The same thing happened to me. I usually love janice wu too. Made it to ep 3 before I shelved it. Came to check out the verdict now that its done. Am surprised by how much people liked it. The timeline shifts werent working for me. Took all the fun out of it. It felt like here was no suspense. Would have been easier to get into if it was told in a more linear fashion.

Agreed. Side couples and love sick second leads are usually the main culprit.

Tbh I was wondering why they were so long and frequent myself. I skipped half an episode of them. Didnt seem necessary for any of the plot in the present.

I think its the cutest thing ever that they described nian nian to a T when they teased him for loving that little white kitten.

Lately the forced love triangle plots have been getting on my nerves. But this brand of it is just...ugh. Feels like the chinese writers ran out of sensible reasons to send the ml into the arms of another woman.

He just thinks its his sister. Was a plot device to create drama and make them have to break up. Im pretty sure that he dumps the best friend when he finds out the truth. They make up. The end.

Yep its just the two of you.lol I think people are loving it cuz it reminds them of love 020. And the girl from ashes of love is the fl. So fans of both are loving it.

So.. I've been excited to watch this. It looked great. But since its still not subbed yet i checked out a bunch of clips.

I then found out that it contains the same bs dramatic plot device that ruined your highness the class monitor. Exactly the same actually. Which is kinda sick and sad. But making the ml think his girl is actually his sister then dumping her for her best friend is just..way too melodramatic, and gross. Its unrealistic that these guys never bother to get a dna test too. So ya, I dropped and kicked this one to the curb. Ugh...Smh. Seemed like it had potential. Ml is really cute too. Oh well.

Could some subbers please have mercy on us? Pretty please?? I just found this drama this month. And so far its been a pretty good one. The main leads do great work together.

Its actually really common for the leads not to get together until the last minute. Hotaru no hikari was similar in several aspects. Messy girl gets close to male boss/friend by being roomates. He even helps her succeed with her crush. Ya, it would have been nice for them to have more romantic scenes together. But that would have made her a bit too "rad" while she was dating all those guys and he had a serious gf. Besides, they were really great as just friends. Made their love have a more intimate foundation than she had with anyone else. But I agree that the pregnancy lie was unnecessary. Had a good eye roll over that.
Said oh well to myself, since the show probably could have ended right there if he had actually managed to confess.

One last thing. The step mom had no right to look down on the fl for being a poor dancer. That woman was a homewrecker that the ml graciously forgave.

I understand. But I can guess who the ml is in most dramas in the first five minutes. Its usually the first guy they introduce to the audience. If the ml or fl is already dating someone at the beginning they will probably break up. If they focus in other other party after break up they will end up back together at the end. If not, its most likely to be the one that helps them out after the heartbreak.

I cant recall ever being this irritated with a female leads actions and choices after things got complicated. Not only does she leave a sick little girl hanging to go "run some errands". But she then ends up hiding something from the ml that got him shot. Even then she doesn't spill..she doubles down on her lies. And her family all support her and tell her it was the right choice. My head wanted to spin when even granny got in on it.

Besides that, its been a pretty good drama. I wouldn't get this irritated if I wasn't enjoying it I suppose. But honestly, her and her people just became way over the top towards the end. I felt bad for the ml.

Its a reverse harem lakorn. Was predictable yes. But the whole thing was about her getting closer to her male bff when she would get into trouble or have her heart broken. That was their courtship. The guys were just there to make him jelly.lol

Cant think of another drama where the leading lady is woman with a kid trying to defend herself from a murderous husband.
Leading man was pretty awesome too. Not mean or wishy washy like you see time and time again. He was great at projecting love and adoration from his eyes too. Ill admit to fast forwarding a bit thru the action scenes and the sub plots. But the main couples story is worth watching unfold.

Big spoiler alert! I peeked ahead at some of the unsubbed episodes.
And it looks like they used one of the cliches I hate the most for the second lead in drama/lakorn land. I feel completely deflated about this show now...

I dont want to ruin it for anyone else tho. So Ill just leave you to find out on your own. I don't even know if I want to finish it now.lol booo

Looks like they are finally finishing it up now. I ended up having to hunt down ep 17 too. Seems to be a skipped episode on most sites. Found that one on wins pedia. So if people dont wanna go on Facebook. Am pretty sure they will be one of the first to repost the subbed version.

In thailand they consider you a mans "wife" when you sleep with him. The term girlfriend applies to a woman you're dating but not slept with yet. If you watch more lakorns you will notice them always yammerin on about "legal" wife status. Think this harkens back to the olden days when women had to deal with their husband bringing other women into the home and telling the "primary" wife to just deal with it.

Did anyone else notice the fl's pic is smaller than both the aunt and step moms? Seems like she's more of a support character in the first half of the lakorn from everyones comments. Or mostly separated from the ml at least.
Maybe its better that way. My heart would feel uncomfortable watching them bonding much before he "deals with" the sister.
