While this tactic of turning the teams into head to head competitors was interesting, especially since they had to re use the exact same ingredients used as team effort, the entire idea of a local chef status raised to celebrity chef was removed except for one battle. All the rest white on white.

While this is still interesting to watch, their all or nothing task removed the entire premise of the show — head to head cook offs between black spoons and white spoons. No matter which side won, the other side was pretty much annihilated.😝 Now it is just a regular cooking contest between colleagues when the point originally was to have less known local chefs compete with well known established celebrity chefs. This is the very description of the show.. There are two black spoons amongst the sea of white spoons but now it’s team tasks and alliances instead of direct one to one challenges. They have completely undermined the show’s premise and I am very disappointed.

The princess was being forced to marry a ruler in Wu who was elderly and debauched. Our trio escaped the guards and made plans to find Lan and rescue the princess. They escape with the princess assisted by an old woman. Turns out the old woman is Lan. She figured out the sister of princess poisoned her with miasma ice and framed Lan. While Lan was being beaten, the Kun blade slipped off and was kicked into the pond. A guard spared her to give birth and she was sent to a penal colony. When she came back, she chanced to see the sister and the young princess. She knows the princess was killed and her child stolen. The prince was most likely conveniently poisoned as well. Bi Zhi has the twin blades now and it remains to be seen what will happen with Lan, Lu Feng and the princess/daughter. It was an interesting spin to tie everybody together. BeiLu was funny scaring the guards off with his consumption story.😂🤣 Lan doesn’t have much time left so I am glad she is getting to share her story with those most needing to hear it.

The market lord is not happy to learn BeiLu is just a “normal” person. She is bribed with cosmetics and I think she has a soft spot for BiXhi. The card game was hilarious😂🤣 So many face tapes and she agrees to give new location but it is rather vague. Lu Feng has remembered his time with Lan and seems to have made a true transformation. He wants to see Lan one last time and because she has the Ken blade and history won’t be changed Lu Feng is allowed to go along. The kitchen scene has Lan rescuing the chefs because the triple was left without ice and spoiled. I The princess has a guest and they are drinking tea. Funny how the guest said she would drink the soup and enjoy even poisoned. The princess who is with child ended up dying because of licorice and fishe combo. The guest had her drink more tea right after the soup so I think she had her eyes in the prince and decided to get princess and heir out of the way. She ci venientky has Lan framed for the crime. Lan is also with child and she is beaten to death. BiZhi finds the other blade to be in the pond. I am hoping they can somehow rescue Lan and/or the child and Lu Feng have a family in his time. Waiting to see if that will be allowed.

BiZhi learned the ripple effect of his actions. The market Lord also belongs to Time Administration and offered him the task of redeeming himself by collecting ZiYi’s collection through time to repair the rifts. She is reminded this is not typical protocol but she makes it happen. BiZhi and BeiLu return to past and he learns the jade was stolen and gets the chance to speak to and bury the one he sent to get evidence. She sees BeiLu and is content because she believed thy succeeded. BeiLu sees ZiYi and sees how they look identical. In the present, he finds his origami dog and now knows BiZhi rescued him from the car crash. BeiLu’s vet clinic scene seemed like a dream sequence with his mentor having a meal and encouraging him. BeiLu got encouragement to be his own man and direct his own path without worrying what others thought or expected. Whether this actually happened or a snack coma dream BeiLu was having, I’m not sure. I still have no clue who Mr Dong is or why he has access to Yashe and BiZhi’s home. Is he a time monitor or something? BiZhi doesn’t comment on why he’s there when BeiLu specifically asked. BeiLu’s friends have found a new place to crash and BiZhi sees how is life is changing in this era. BeiLu wants to help him complete his task to retrieve ZiYi’s treasures and then asks BiZhi to stay in this time. These two misfits have found each other, whether by chance or design, and have created a family. There is hope for both of them to become more than they expected of themselves.

BeiLu spent time with his family. He thought he had rescued his parents but they had called an ambulance to have him get treated. While they were still in parking lot the call for accident arrived. BeiLu is devestated and begs BiZhi to help him change the outcome. BiZhi takes him to the forbidden room and tells his backstory with ZiYi. He knew that BeiLu would not be convinced otherwise so he shared his experiences at trying to cheat fate to save his best friend. No matter how often he tried, or changed peripheral occurrences, ZiYi always ended up dead. The only thing that really changed was how many others died along with him. BiZhi was still hellbent on saving him and found himself at the time rift market. Here episode ends. This episode was successful at making you feel their anguish in fighting a hopeless cause. They both want to know why people that could do so much good for the world were cut down in their prime with such a weak legacy left. The cast and production team made the varying circumstances come to life. It was well done .😭

Thanks to a cancellation XiGuang and friends can get company party set up earlier. While Ru is carrying boxes she has a collision with a guest. He was a royal jerk. This is first meeting of the step daughter. She is not as mean as Rong, but she is a whiny self absorbed brat. She has a very different version of the encounter than what actually occurred. She is trying to pin a lot of negativity on XiGuang that never happened. Her mom, the fake prayer😝, she is at least shrewder that talking bad about the ‘real’ daughter is not in her best interest. So if not pleasant, fake daughter will be quiet. I am curious about Mr. Business card that knew exactly what had happened and kept quiet until after the fact. I am glad that XiGuang didn’t get his name, but later wished Lin knew who he was and was forewarned. This does not feel like an only encounter. I enjoyed the bargain from calligraphers…..after all the writing no forced dancing.😂🤣 None of the planning trio received any of the prizes. While they were lamenting their participation gifts, Lin offers them a ride home. Jie quickly arranges for XiGuang to ride back by herself. They end up at a night market and while eating she is encouraged to tell him why she is bummed out. After relaying her doubts about cam footage, Lin tells her she handled it well and that is why everything turned out ok. The bank employees are making their plans for new year. Xu’s little brother has intervened to get them all at the slopes the same time XiGuang and cousin are there. My consolation with this is the gal colleague changes her plans and talks the group into joining him. I hope she makes progress with Xu because she seems the best option to have him be a real person and not an ass while out with others. He seems to be more comfortable with her because she is a colleague. It was fun listening to Xu and Lin chat about skiing and snowboarding. The more they chat, the more she finds him impressive in every regard.🥰I am glad he’s going to be with his mom for the holiday, but I am a bit sad he is not having an opportunity to ski with XiGuan over New Year. The scene shifts to Gma’s house and the son is out with the Qing’s and annoying his parents. XiGuang tries to pacify them with food and encouraging the gossip session. 🤣 He dad finally shows and he is asking about her job. He makes it clear he wants her in upper management and wants her to find a husband. As if HE would be a good source of advice.😝🙄 He learns she is spending time with her mom over New Year holiday and I really hope he doesn’t bring his mini harem with him.😝From what I see of him, they all deserve each other. I would really like her mom to find an older version of Lin . Keep the parents cause they are sweethearts, but get the son out of the picture entirely. I gotta admit I was grinning at how distasteful his parents found him. I can’t be sad for XiGuang because her life will be so much better without him. What I do wonder is if his lack of payment is because he’s showing his dislike of Lin? Or is his gf’s family getting him into bad and sneaky investments and losing his money?

I liked that XiGuang headed to his table for breakfast without feeling awkward. Lin made alternate plans since he found out about her fear of flying. Their phone cover purchases.🤣😂 She went back to the visited worksite to take notes on their greenhouse construction details. She wants to look more learned with the home construction team. It was cute how he shared how to geek up before meeting to look smart.😂🤣 no surprise she took the foodie option. The grins from their servers over the phone case choices😂🥰 I think this is the first time XiGuang wished for more turbulence on the flight. She only got to sample one mystery box. She wants to get braver about traveling and he was so thoughtful in having a fun calming distraction. 🥰 He had already planned for her to get the snacks and share as gifts with her friends. Her visit to Ping’an temple to change her wish😂🤣Him noting her guilty look while she demands complete privacy.😂🤣He fishes to find out if he was part of her wishlist. If he only knew.😂🤣The scene switches to the bank where the worst case scenarios occurred with the company Xu’s colleague wanted them to invest in. Fortunately they missed the investment loss because the supervisor took Xu’s advice of approaching the investment cautiously so no funds were lost. She is both very embarrassed about her referral and relieved that Xu’s counter decision helped her save face. Here was a pleasant surprise. Xu wasn’t an arrogant ass. They actually had a conversation where he treated her like a respected colleague. They have a celebratory dinner that they missed a big loss and his lippy friend embarrasses himself. Xu is actually personable and pleasant. His brother is visiting and finds an old photo. Xu came home very drunk and comments on the picture. He wonders if XiGuang would have shown same concern his brother did for his welfare had they come to Shanghai together. His brother is finally realizing Yong isn’t who his brother was interested in. XiGuang has done all her homework and presents two options for garden construction. Lin’s snacks broke the ice and their was lively discussion amongst the home teams for ideas. Her Lin is showing her potential as a future leader in the company. I really like that Lin guides her but encourages her to come up with her own plans and confidently present her ideas to management. She is maturing into the best version of herself because he is such a positive gentle influence for her. He is building up her confidence and taking care with her since he is aware how toxic her college friends are. She is encouraged to go the BIPV route so that it can become demo site of newer technology for the factory. She is invited to a meeting to be included in financial planning developments. Here she learns her father is not meeting his company financial promises and is not happy. She has a chat with her cousin about why she changed skiing plans and he speculates about her interest in Lin. She asks him about her father;s lack of payment with expansion plans and he assures her it can be handled without effecting wages so not to worry about it. The cousin passes in the location changes to his friends that includes Xu’s brother. Xu’s little brother figures out that XiGuang will probably be along on the trip. 😝 while I actually like him…we don’t need Xu there.

BeiLu is doing his best to find a place in his price range and striking out because pets not included. BiZhi decides to help him out and he gets a 5 bedroom apt so he has a place to stay. BeiLu has friends over to visit and BiZhi excuses himself to have a night of wine wallowing. I am wondering if the anniversary of ZiYi’s death? While he is out cold sleeping it off, BeiLu grabs the time bracelet and tries to rescue them from car accident. He was almost successful in diverting them but when that failed, he opted to cause a fender bender right when episode ends. BiZhi discovered BeiLu isn’t there and bracelet gone so he’s trying to find BeiLu.

XiGuang and co-worker are with the test group determining which caterer will get the cafeteria contract. While she is in line, Lin shows up for lunch. They have a fun negotiation over food vote😂🤣 she bestows him the power of the pen to cast the vote she wants with his signature.😂🤣 she is very disappointed her choice did not win but everybody else sees the food as a serious upgrade and the long lines prove it. Jie is so on to her and Lin becoming a couple. XiGuang is finally admitting he’s pursuing her. She is finally getting out from under the shadow of her toxic college bully squad and growing as a confident young woman. She is taking on more work and ends up being the employee covering the notes for a business trip. She never told Lin she’s terrified of flying. She shows her naïveté talking to contractors but is a boss with booking rooms and getting amenity coupons. Lin suspected Mo of underhanded business practices, but was surprised at the lengths he went to to undercut a good in country contractor for foreign imports. Lin is given the opportunity to fix the slight and renew business together. He knows the gals will stay in the spa if he doesn’t intervene, so he strongly encourages his roommate to use the spa coupon.😂 He and XiGuang go phone shopping and he becomes her first friend on WeChat.🥰 She has a candid conversation with her roommate about office gossip and personal relationships. I am sure in future XiGuang will help with office protocol to improve safety for female workers on this front. She is getting good insight as a future head of company on how to negotiate with business partners and how to improve work conditions for laborers. She is showing real progress and being more assured of herself. I am enjoying the story and the pacing. Cast and production team are giving us a broader view of main characters and we are finally getting to see the interactions and story progression we have been wanting to see.

I really did give Xu too much credit. He is truly an arrogant prat.😝🙄 Using wine as an excuse to verify numbers? She told him off nicely and said what needed to be said. His parting shot about the length she kept promises did strike a chord. She saw herself saying she would wait, not realizing at the time he wouldn’t be worth it. She let him know finally that he wasn’t. I was annoyed at first that Lin was taking so long to show up. But he of course is the hero bringing back an even nicer change of clothes for her. They only stay long enough for her to say a quick goodbye to her ‘friends’ and say a fond farewell to the bride and groom. This friend cares about her. He was drinking he’s not driving you home. 😁 Lin assured her he wouldn’t be driving. For the first time ever, when passing Xu on the way out, she turns towards Lin and makes it clear she is no longer interested. Lin confesses to her🥰 He is so sweet and she is stunned. She did not see it coming. He even comments how his confession has stunned her to silence.😂 I like how she is straight up with him about her feelings. And here she is feeling the pressure she gave to Xu. His comment about a weight lifted off his shoulders. Xu had listened to his friend too much. He didn’t consider that XiGuang really liked him. He thought she was looking for the better match. He made the same mistake with Rong. She is a meanspirited little shit when she feels threatened, but she truly liked him. She was not like her friend settling. She thought she found her match. He finally spoke his mind to her. He thought her goal was to one up XiGuang, not just be his gf. Here is where they flashback to her testing of Xu with the rich girl instead of coming forward to both of them and admit she liked him. He is bitter because he believed all she said about XiGuang because they were such good friends. Rong maligned XiGuang at every opportunity and never confessed to him when she was wrong. He paid XiGuang back so quickly because everybody speculated how they would be a couple after she helped him. He had reason for a conflict of emotions but he never bothered to have a face to face with either girl to hammer out the details and get to the truth. Now that he is aware of how he was duped, he told Rong he had paid for trusting her. He really is a miserable guy and both girls would do well to stay far away from him. Maybe his competition at work might be better and bring out his ‘human’ side. 😝Rong and Xu leave a bitter taste. They each sabotaged themselves and then mourn that there were consequences. I feel no sympathy for either of them. What is very cute is how optimistic Lin is🥰 He lets XiGuang know he isn’t giving up and he cornered her directly to refuse him if he had no chance. Her sincerity at not having the same feelings and not wanting to hurt him, just makes him like her more.🥰😁 Unlike Xu, he assured her she should not feel pressure or weighed down by his feelings. Here is a real man in love and nothing like the arrogant ass that shifted all blame to her at every opportunity. I like that he respects her need for space. He isn’t pushy but lets her know he will show his interest until she clearly states he has no hope. Otherwise, he reminds her how capable she considered him and that he should be just as capable of convincing her as he is with everything else. Hopefully no more tumor metaphors. 😝😂 When she goes home she finds Lin invading her dreams and Her mom and friend trying to match make and give dating rules. She happily goes to see grandparents to escape. I am still not sure if they are heading to Switzerland or staying in country for skiing. But her Gma is like a breath of fresh air for her as they head to vegetable garden.

Lin and XiGuang are adorable in the arcade.🥰🤣 Lin scores points with the girl in movie line but loses points with the guy for breaking the bro code.😂🤣This couple is also a cute aside as they watch Lin and XiGuang. She falls asleep because it’s been a very long day. He is filling her in on the points of the movie when the gal from other couple compliments him on his multitasking skills.😂 XiGuang is determined to get that scenic view so Lin takes her to a quiet top tier place with a gorgeous view of the city. I love his banter with her about getting to boss her around while on her payroll. They have another “plot twist” when he has to go with her to police station to get a temp ID card. His concern that she stays safe and well in her room so his reputation stays intact.🤣😝 Xu and friend are drinking at a local bar. Rong’s friend has finally agreed to accept his gf’s confession and they are officially a pair. What is disheartening about the conversation is he asks Xu if true love is left for the handsome guys like him, He is rather ambivalent about his relationship and implies she is the one due to lack of better option. He feels she is doing the same.😝I’m hoping these two wait a long time before getting married. Xu is drinking a lot regularly. He is quiet but unhappy. This is becoming a negative habit for him when not working. He is rather sullen and killing time til he can go back to work. Lin is all rise and shine for breakfast. He greets her sweetly and then teases her all through breakfast. His comment is he could only be more handsome by upgrading car.😂🤣 They make it in and both present gifts to her friend. This is one of the few friends I liked for her. At the table Rong makes an appearance and starts in on how inferior XiGuang’s and Lin’s positions must be in the company. Lin grins when XiGuang sets her straight using family ties to make point of where her strengths are. I like when Lin tells her she nudged back with enough force to put Rong in place but stopped there. It is nice to see XiGuang standing up for herself. Her friend that is settling for best option then makes a catty remark about staying overnight in Shanghai. Lin puts that down and makes it clear everything was done with propriety. Then XiGuang’s low EQ friend wants to know why a doctor isn’t practicing medicine. Lin gave her permission explain but she tries to justify it as multiple interests. The wedding couple comes over to toast and wine is spilled on XiGuang. I am grieved that XiGuang still shows interest in Xu, but have to grin that Lin retaliates with the big piece of fat because she was so focused he just grabbed whatever bite for her.🤣😂 she serves him soup and low EQ friend amuses Lin by getting served too.🤣😂 The wedding couple come over for a toast and Xu spills wine on XiGuang. I am waiting to see how it is handled because of course this is where episode ends.😝

She accepts the invitation to go to the wedding but had to decline helping her friend prep for her wedding because the same day. A cold snap hits and the outfit she planned to wear isn’t suited so Lin takes her shopping. She is spoiled and he gets a discount. When they arrive she learns that the bride wasn’t the inviter. It is covered quickly and she is still processing she is really his plus one. Ok, that he knew to the second when he saw her was a new extreme of love at first sight. I like that her safety charm is in his car. 🥰There is a poignant moment when he greets his mentor. XiGuang is considered his gf and he tells his mentor he is still pursuing her.🥰 Her college friends bump into her while Lin is getting the car. It seems Rong made everybody believe she was studying abroad and not on a study trip with her cousin. It is debatable whether this was an accident or on purpose. Rong has a lot to say about XiGuang finding her own happiness when Mr tall dark and awesomely handsome comes up the stairs for her. He knows she is upset but not sure why. He is introduced to the group and he makes a point to greet Xu.😂😝When her friends try to team up on her for missing the prep day, he comes to her rescue and takes the blame for her absence. He also wants to take her out so she is back to being happy after being upset by her “friends”. They come across as pretty toxic as they didn’t ask why she was there but started ganging up with accusations. Seems they haven’t changed much. 😝The episode ends with them heading to the bank for more cash. He wants to know how much she plans on spending and she just grins. 😁 Compared to her work colleagues, it is pretty clear how shabbily she is treated by the friends from home. Guess Rong helped her out since Xu was unaware XiGuang was local.

XiGuang noticed that his left hand couldn’t keep up while trying her game. She wants to know why his friend keeps talking about surgeries with Lin when he can’t be a doctor. She thinks it’s mean. He explains it is exposure therapy to help him heal from his sudden change of work status. She watches him attentively with patients and former colleagues and sees how capable he is. She even comments that he is incredible because he is equally good with the business. The teasing at lunch about the horror movie😂🤣 she finds an easier game for him to work his hand and successfully win. 🥰They are funny when comparing salaries. 😂🤣 After discharge she finally tells her mom she was injured but she changes how she was injured and the degree of injury. He yells at her to quit worrying the people who care about her. I don’t think she realized he included himself in that group. He drives her home and she sees his eyesight was also impaired but I think she really liked how he looked in glasses.😍Everybody greets her when she returns to work and Lin plans a dinner to improve their Feng shui 😂🤣He says that he and XiGuang will pay since they started the rumors of bad luck. She and her friend are speculating if she will really have to pay. When they get to the place it is very top tier and all the most expensive dishes are ordered. He calls her down to the register and claims to have forgotten his wallet.🤣😝 She counters that this will make them even for hospital bill.😂She wants to know if they are ok now and asks why he disliked her so much initially. He commented that she was carefree and forgetful. She equated that with being called a ditz but has no clue what he is talking about. She just knows he’s sincere in his opinion and he sees that she is not recalling but neither understand why the other doesn’t get it. She cannot believe how audacious he in in accepting all credit for the meal she paid for.😂🤣She wonders if they are friends now. Xu goes head to head with a colleague about doing business with an overseas client. He advises more caution than she does. His supervisor asked his opinion and Xu outlined all his concerns. It is noted by his colleague that disagrees. He gets a call from his friend informing him to come to his wedding on the 2nd. XiGuang asks Lin why she is always the one staying late. He reminds her how much her family makes and that he felt guilty taking advantage of the working class😂🤣 They make new rules for a budding friendship as to how to address each other. The exchange of gifts.🥰 He is thinking very late for the safety charm and she is touched at the thoughtful gift of ointment to lessen scarring. The colleague that shrieked and caused her fall felt guilty and invited XiGuang to her wedding. They discuss the wedding invite and then it segues into if the reward high enough would I jump off the balcony😂🤣she gets a call from a classmate wanting help with her wedding. She doesn’t want to go when all of them gathering as that would most likely include Rong and Xu.

XiGuang is rushed to the hospital and fortunately isn’t too badly injured. She wakes up to find Lin in her room. They have a conversation where he is still trying to get her to remember his first accident. They both are hurt at what they see as meanness and lack of courtesy in treatment. He has promised to stop with his bias while she is still trying to figure out why he has it. There was a flashback to Lin in hospital and his friend giving him lame excuses about why the girl didn’t show up with him. This still weighs heavily on him even after all this time. It is shown his vision and hand is impaired to the point that being a surgeon is no longer possible. The severity of his changed condition makes him very hurt that the girl he was going to see never made any effort at all to check up on him…not even through his friend. That isn’t matching in his head with the girl he is with so he’s very conflicted and angry when his efforts to jar her memory fall flat. When her friends come to visit they have a thermos container with some tasty healthy food made by his domestic helper. Her friends let her know she threw up on him and that he had taken care of hospital arrangements to include a private room. She is both embarrassed and overwhelmed at the events. They are busy clarifying that the gal with him was only a colleague. They are dying to be matchmakers with her and the boss. 😂 she gives him a very short thank you text which he responds to hoping she will say more. Things are so awkward when he visits but they are cute🥰His buddy is holding a meeting in her room to get his prior cases noted by her. This is a huge Nono on so many levels but it is letting her see him as a doctor rather than her boss. After getting all her meals with him or from him since in hospital her friend suggests that he likes her. She can’t fathom that.😂Her friend trying to see her cry😂🤣 There is a poignant moment when he’s trying to help her progress in the game and his hand can’t keep up.😭 and episode ends with her noticing.
