Couple fated

Viki has this series in 8 episodes so there will be spoilers if watching the 18 episode version. The general is honorable. He knew that Shen Qin had been forced and he was willing to take the hit to call things off. There is a flashback and we see the general has a jade pendant of the crown prince. I do not know if they were personally close or if simply mutually respected, but the death of crowned prince has haunted him and he refuses to stop investigating. This is why his father pushed a marriage alliance on him. He wanted his son out of the political machinations of the palace and to keep with national issues through the military and alliance with the prime minister. The louse prince is with the “brother” who irrationally assumed his sister’s death would please him. He thought he was assisting not realizing the extent of Shen Qin’s relationship to the prince. The brother is threatened to be sure nothing happens to his sister or two coffins will be needed.😝 A magistrate has arrived at the general’s door to read a decree. Unfortunately it requires the presence of the couple and he believes Shen Qin has left for good. What actually happened is she was further blackmailed with her sister and to stick around til an heir was produced. She arrives late but timely to receive an honorific title from the emperor. He is reminded of the girl he saved by the same phrasing coming from his new bride. The face does not match the quotes and is puzzling him. He feels the same attraction for Shi Qi as she does for him, but he now finds himself married with no way out. The next day she is signalled by her nemesis to show up at the bidding of the red ties. She sees someone in the pool who has the peach blossom on her shoulder but not the face. She sees her maid dead on the floor and told how she was helped out of a bad situation with brother and maid trying to kill her. She is told she should be thankful.😝 Shi Qi has been surrounded by blood and death since she entered the general’s mansion. The only thing that resonates with her is belief in his character as her savior. That remains unflappable even with all the weird circumstances.The louse prince is trying to win favor by bribing the general. That’s not happening but the treasures are accepted for the border troops. He bumps into Shi Qi with Shen Qin’s face and believes it to be his lover. He now very inappropriately grabs her and is expecting reciprocation to his embrace. Can’t wait to see what Shi Qi does. Episode ends. It is again fast paced covering multiple side stories. These are given with just enough clues to keep them interesting and integrated.

Murder at the governor’s banquet

Yuan Mo is expecting the fireworks to start when A Shu sees her citizen certificate as maid status. She cannot read Yong, so she is overjoyed. His expensive wines are replaced and that moment where he just celebrates their return to his shelves.😂 She goes shopping with Yuchi to celebrate. Yuan Mo knows he needs to find her new accommodations and hitting up his friends. Retainer Wang is trying to whip them into shape and it’s not going well.😂 He is further embarrassed when the east gate crew come by. 😝A Shu was very happy til a local realtor informed her what her real status is. She retaliates by running up charges for poisonous plants and reptiles. Juan Mo is terrified of the baby snake 😂 but tells her in a year she can apply without having to answer any questions about who she is or where reslly from. This appeases her for the time being. Wang takes stock of how things are going and sees how underpaid his staff is. He and Yuan Mo figure out a scheme to get the governor choosing their side for accommodations. What they weren’t prepared for was the amount of work this spoiled client demanded.😂🤣 The one really enjoyable part was watching them give all their ‘extra’ duties to east gate and then take over their offices for the governor job. They finally make progress and the governor throws a banquet where Wang and Yuan Mo are guests. The Mobei delegate presents a soul restoring incense to the governor, and then later goes crazy and comes at him with a sword. It results in the death of the Mobei delegate. A Shu and Yuchi are all ready to make Yuan Mo their test dummy for the combination of incense and dragon grass. They have it all set up when Retainer Wang comes in and drinks the dragon grass water and smells the incense. His eyes turn red and the episode ends…..😬😱🫣

Everybody is enjoying New Year’s eve celebrations. All the staff at Perfect Voice is after QQC to give a treat for the new year so he surprises them with the song Bones to Sand where he sings and narrates. It is an enjoyable performance. SSM gets a surprise from her friends as she is taken to their new studio location. Dawn to Dusk studios is taking shape and they have an impromptu rehearsal to test everything. She finds out that she has been tagged by QQC and is worried by the rumors. She also learns his WeChat name is Mo QingCheng. When she wakes him and finds him adorable. 🥰The first awkward call of what to talk about😂 She is so nervous and he just wants to hear her talk. They exchange recipes again as this seems their comfort zone for now. Both studios are teasing them because they already know love is in the air. He tagged her because he likes her voice as much as she likes his. She just doesn’t believe him yet. They are already doing the glued to phone for any messages thing new couples do. 😂🥰 She sings for him and covers her by saying she lost a bet. His studio is merciless teasing him.😂🤣 They are just too cute and their friends want popcorn to watch. 😂 she hurries to their store for cousin who is supposed to be going on a blind date. He is really going to play video game. 😂 The new girl is on phone with her friend about the new voice tagged by her idol. SSM does not know how to respond since she is that voice.

Friendships tested

That greedy girl from celestial palace😝 She got hold of the mirror, but I am still surprised Sima Jiao was unaware of things til his physical return. He must be weaker than he is letting on. It was funny that the fish they dined on was Shi’s special soul fish😂 That seemed to be the first thing he actually was concerned about.😝 It’s certainly not the deaths he causes or the people he feeds on. The next generation following the same cultivation plan.😝 I am glad Ruling was used to hide the real spy. Once she left Tingyan there as bait, I have no use for her. She made it very clear where her loyalties were. All she had to do was have a conversation with either of her “friends” to see if any other option for barrier. She is as bad as Shi because lives don’t matter to her outside of her cause. She is not even caring for the people she leads with this thinking. I feel little for her tears after deserting her friends. I really don’t care what happens to her. She is another distasteful aside I have to watch sucking up to Shi. That girl deserved her cultivation trashed. She deserved more. Her mother wanted to lead the 8 sects more than her daughter. And she is another ruthless leader sending her daughter to do her killing in an out of the way location. Instead of locking her up and dealing with her brainwashing evil cultivating methods, she figured let it pass if only underlings killed. This bunch just needs to go. I am tired of all of them Tingyan and snake mourn their friend, but it is the person they thought she was, not the person she really is. She uses her cause as an excuse to betray. She could have stood by both. She just made no effort whatsoever to find another way because she is so convinced she is right. So her friends are sacrificed. She deserves it. This arc needs to be ended. I am tired of it. The main couple are sweet and adorable, but they no longer balance the evil side for me. I want them both out of here. Their love is growing, but their few minutes of loveliness gets trashed for me with the evil machinations from everywhere else.

Alliances tested

Nianju is used by Ruling and Shi to find Sima Jiao. Nianju is so innocent and trusting. Ruling knows this but has no conversations with him. He would forthrightly tell her the truth of things and has 500 years of experience to share, but she only sees death of Sima Jiao as her option. She has a just cause, but has taken gossip for truth rather than seeing what truth is. Her mother told her what she thought she knew as truth in her confined setting. Ruling has had much opportunity to seek further and deeply but has not used her leadership position to school herself. I am disappointed in the lack of growth of this character. She sings one song with Shi and it is discordant. I am already tired of these two scheming when it is only for the good of the power hungry blood eaters. I will be glad when this arc is done.😝 Tingyan and Sima Jiao are a very cute couple. She is starting to understand the soul region, but she is unaware how tied they really are. Once Shi learns this, it will be the end of them both. I am just hoping he is crushed along with them.The main couple is very cute and sweet, but the schemers in this world are disgusting and tiresome. Ruling is just another in the heap of them. Poor snake thinks she saved him, she brought the pain. She is worse than her sister because little sis is far more straightforward about who she is and what she wants. Ruling comes under the guise of friendship and then uses dagger (in Nianju’s case literally). It probably won’t be too long for literal dagger for her other friend, Tingyan. When Shi tests her with Tingyan, what then? Sima Jiao is waiting for his fire to grow. It ends with our couple fishing….I will be sad if Nianju goes back to Ruling.

Traveling incognito

Sima Jiao and Tingyan take the identities of Mu twins to give him healing and investigating time. Neither particularly like going back to school but Tingyan appreciates the lessons more. Their teacher is the ‘Doogie Howzer” of first level spell teaching. 😂 When she struggled with lesson, Sima Jiao taught her to shift spell to her element strengths. She is far more successful and uses it to discourage a classmate’s overtures. Ruling is teaming up with Shi even knowing what he’s done. It never crosses her mind to team up with Tingyan and form a plan not requiring killing. She thinks she is protecting her friend and using Nianju. She is finding that part harder with attractive man telling her how beautiful her eyes are😂 Tingyan is invited to an outing with classmates, and since good food is promised, decides to go. She is tested by the handsy colleague’s cousin, but she agrees to everything said and finds no offense at being low man on totem pole or lacking a partner to cultivate with. She listens to their gossip and hears how Shi has altered the truth and disseminated false information. She was happily eating earlier but now sad she can’t conjure up Sima Jiao’s presence at will. After thinking this he shows up and episode ends. While he was gone, Sima Jiao planted a fire flower in the Shi pool to stir things up. He has hypnotized a guard to tell him when it starts growing. Things are going to get interesting.

Obstacles removed

The emperor divides the generals in three different cities and He Yan gets put in Rundu. This is the city that has no action but ready to provide support to either city under attack. He Yan is restless and unhappy. Yan needs assistance and she arrives as quickly as possible. Unfortunately he is killed even as his wife is giving birth. Chu is realizing he lost a friendship that mattered to him. He Yan levels him when she returns, blaming him for the division of power that has resulted in weakening the efforts in both cities. She takes his wine bottle and tells him he doesn’t merit it. That he needs to be sober and feel the loss of the men that died because of his advice to the emperor. That Yan’s daughter will never see him because of his actions. The daughter is named Muxia. Yan had names picked for both genders before heading out. I like to think the butterfly that visits is daddy looking over his little girl. Xiao Jue is losing ground but will never give up. He has become a tireless fighting machine and continues to inspire his troops to move forward. When we see him he is surrounded by pikes and the Wutuo General is getting ready to finish him off. His avenging angel sends two arrows that knock the general back. I love the sword switch as they finish him off together. When they look at each other….it’s like long time no see .. now let’s go kick their ass. I have to chuckle as they scream victory surrounded by burning buildings. They return home and report to the emperor. They are told rewards will greet them when they get home. They give him a polite thank you and have no other words for him. Secretariat Chu has been dismissed due to his poor advice and banished to border lands. When they get to He Yan’s house they enjoy a more intimate hug. Feinu again shows up to interrupt and tell them there is an edict. They arrive to hear their list of rewards and given permission to marry. A very pleased official leaves after sharing the news. One month later our generals get married. They look stunning in their red robes subdued with black. She shines like the sun with her bright gold headdress. He is kinder than Cheng and her saddle is on the ground to step over😂 The ceremony is perfect and they are surrounded by all their friends and family. When the Cheng’s go to find them, our generals have disappeared and not to be found. They are horseback in an isolated spot to view the moon with no distraction but each other. They speculate about their future and enjoy the beauty and silence together. It is a good ending for them. May they be blessed with many years of moon viewing and children to share their happiness. Uncle Feinu will always be available to babysit.😂

Promises made ….. decrees rejected

I love that Xiao Jue pleaded for her to have an option. I am happy that she firmly asked for decree to be revoked. That she made it plain with no opening for negotiation. She marries who she loves or she doesn’t marry period. The writers did not do well with this. It is not the obstacles to them getting married as the personality deviations to make it happen. The emperor seemed almost a father figure in how he candidly spoke with Xiao Jue. And now he not only forbid them to wed, he painted Xiao Jue in a corner and then smirked to have him personally read the marriage decree to his beloved? This is completely out of character. And then for him to ask did I err? To make a hard decision against someone he respected happens, but to add to the pain and then find it funny to do? This doesn’t sit well. I love that He Yan put her lover’s words together and figured it out. That she ‘politely’ told the emperor what he could do with his decree, and that she put Chu in his place and tossed his tassel back at him. The cruel smile on his face afterwards plotting is not how he has been. He wanted to right the wrongs of the poor. That he would chain a woman to him after all his mother went through, is a stretch. That he would find a way to make them stay single would be a Chu move. But to immediately seize opportunity without softening the blow and biding his time makes no sense. This creative whim would have been better invested with military matters rather than politician obsession dementia. All the characters were marginalized with this angst offshoot and it was an unnecessary distraction to what could have been a phenomenal ending. The chancellor’s spoiled daughter takes things into her own hands and tries to stab Chu in his opportunistic heart, but the guard that truly loves him took that blow for him. He doesn’t understand why she did that for him because he has no clue what real love is. Things lighten up with the docs getting married. This made up for the recipe proposal. She’s looking at that horse like how am I gonna do that in a dress? and he picks her up and tosses her like a bouquet right on over.😂 There is a crowd of women all ready to catch her. She recovers from this to walk through the parade of fans.😂 Cheng gets points for creativity here.😂🥰 How our generals hold hands in public and promise to grow old together.🥰❤️ These two are unstoppable no matter what. The big bro talking sense into the dependable brother. This family is kinda awesome. They will more than make up for the family He Yan never really had, tho her mother tried at the end. Their tea time is cut short because the pissed off Wutuo decide to attack two cities at same time and it’s time for boots on the ground to take care of it.

Shattered dreams

Xiao Jue walks through He Yan’s past with her so that she can experience it with someone and not alone. Cheng and Song get engaged. For as funny as they are, the proposal between them is like reading a medicine recipe. 😂 it is sweet and appropriate for them, but not particularly swoon worthy or romantic in the traditional sense. Feinu has spent the day and evening creating the perfect atmosphere for the generals. He really deserves a commendation for his efforts.😂 Xiao Jue has a way with words and feelings that is just puddle worthy. The generals pledge engagement under the plum tree and inspire young couples to make that their confession location. One in comments described Chu as the morally opportunistic one rather than gray. I had to look that up but is true as to what he is. He knows that a monopoly of military in one combined family could be dangerous for ruler. He makes a good point but is heartless in putting his hat in the ring as an option. I am glad he got punched and glad he was smart enough to not press charges. Fire and ice are far less conducive for pairing but his response…so what. Xiao Jue won’t tell her. They have been measuring for bridal clothes and he hasn’t the heart to bring her disappointment. He talks as a general so they can discuss Wutuo offense and defense rather than the sacrifice he plans to make for them both. He should have told her so she wouldn’t be blindsided by Chu’s audacity. Neither can or will give up their position but the emperor again doles out punishment for the noble and reward for the opportunistic.Chu’s guard tried to gently point out that their pairing would shatter like the candy, but he willfully chooses to blind himself. It doesn’t register that both our generals might prefer to be forever single . I have no clue why he thinks a woman so adept with weapons, that has no love for him, and who he skillfully cheated of a happy marriage by bending the ears of the emperor thinks she will acquiesce and say yes. She has already told him point blank to his face what she thought of his plan of clearing the way for her. He is such a good politician and such a selfish prat about the woman he admires. I am waiting for next episode to see what the other general has to say about things. I hope she punches Chu too.🤬🙄 Here I am annoyed with the writer that right at the end they have to push this. And since they did, they should have paired Feinu and Chu’s guard together. They would have made a cute pair. But it is also true that sometimes the warrior has to decide between family and command. Chu successfully brought that to a head for his advantage. This isn’t something he learned from his mentor. I think this is an innate part of Chu as a result of his early life experiences. He determined to climb no matter the cost. But this personal ambition of his with He Yan….will be the wall of defeat he can’t get over or break through.

Everybody wants Tingyan dead

Tingyan arrives to the party wearing the token Sima Jiao gave her. This gives her the knowledge and power to counter all attacks against her. She returns upset that they wanted to kill her. She is left on the floating pavilion she had admired by herself. At first she is a bit stressed, but she accepts as she recognizes her 5 star accommodations and begins enjoying the amenities greatly and relaxes to sleep. How her enjoyment is described as torture by Sima Jiao to the elders is quite funny.😂🤣 Sima Jiao fakes her death and with a form changing pill Tingyan turns into the shape she wants most. It turns out to be an otter because she thought they were adorable and wanted to pet one. He feels the same since he takes every opportunity to cuddle her.😁 when his spy and a contingency of Shi’s men sneak into his home, they find her dress and a pile of ash. This confirms to them with the flame also out that she is truly dead. For whatever reason, he does not include snake in the loop and leaves him to be jealous of otter rather than saying who otter is. When he returned to snake form I was expecting him to be able to communicate with her, but apparently , Sima Jiao is not allowing it. Whether it’s for their mutual protection or his amusement remains to be seen. Black snake has been accepted as a disciple by Ruling. She has planted a bug on him because she wants proof Tingyan is alive. She names him Hei Nian Ju for the day he became human and for what he actually is. He is pleased with his name and is happy to tell Sima Jiao all about it. The sister of Ruling is a wildcard. She is trying to look out for her people, but she is also willing to do it by any means necessary and alone. Since she believes Tingyan is gone she is more inclined to watch and wait. Ruling shows Hei Nian Ju the remnants of her people, enslaved and dying with no help. She tells him how she was raised there. He promises to help her so she agrees to let him be her disciple and plans to use him as a spy. The puppets are also camera for Shi. They are all plotting en mass waiting for opportunity. The son may be more inclined to assist later since his girl was killed by his father. Shi is a firm believer in dead me. Tell no tales treatment. There is someone they are looking for with a flame emblem on their back. Sims Jiao and Hei Nian Ju are also looking while letting Tingyan enjoy the food and fun. Sima Jiao feels a presence trying to reach out to him and wants to know who/what it is and the episode ends…😝 I am enjoying that Tingyan has become his woobie😍 he protects her and feels free to rest with her, something he has never been inclined to do for 500 years. I don’t think even he knows why. He just senses that in spite of what her outer form is, it does not match the innocence of the spirit inside. He has no intention of letting her off til he figures her out. I do hope he loops in black snake so he won’t try to hurt her, but he is also a sweet blabbermouth and maybe Jiao wants to keep this secret from all of them. Hiding her in plain sight with no Tingyan spirit aura attached is kinda genius.

Foundation stage cultivation

The Yan clan is desperate for a cure. The daughter has a very rare heavenly spirit root that will allow her to cultivate to nascent level. She is the hope of the clan. The demon bargaining for marriage has the rare dark root. That would make two cultivators of nascent level. Who know what abilities offspring could produce? The elder that brought him to clan sees the dark arts practiced and wants out. He sets himself up for his thousand gem retirement plan and is struck down before he can warn other sects. The moon shadow sect has made no inquiries into the disappearance of their messenger or the condition of their new recruit. This is supposed to be the smartest group😝 They are distracted with grandmaster’s weakened state but after she did all that for the herb, why was she not interested in the outcome? It should have been a top priority but she has Han Li and her ego on the brain.😝 She doesn’t give him credit to not want this known as much as her. He has cultivated his garden herbs and everything is ready to make foundation pills. He is happy with the purity and continues making them. He starts off with two. Compared to the quality the other’s have, his pills are probably at least 30% better or more. He is definitely getting the bang for his buck with aged herbs. He continues taking them two at a time. The last two….he needs them to break him through. They seem to be working but he has to distract to keep from overloading. He gets to level 4 in new sword technique. He is successful in gaining foundation stage. So is sr he rescued. There is gentle hazing by most of his seniors. The last is more intense. They discover he has reached level 4 sword technique and has default shield. Han Li is annoyed when he learns there is an energy penalty for the defense. He tells master Mo and Wu goodbye and packs his things to head for new master. The garden now grows nothing for his further cultivation. He looks around appreciative of the serenity and beauty this garden provided him. His new master tells him he needs to find his own place to live and refers him to location to get a spirit beast. He finds an adorable level w treasure mouse, pays the man a sack of gems and is on his way.

Poison effects and escaping trial grounds

While harvesting from the water drake, they unleash a lust poison. Things get interesting for them. 😂When they wake they find themselves in a compromising position. She underestimates him wanting to push the matter aside as much as she does. She even considers killing him. What the end up doing is she gets the blood spirit flower for Yan clan and the gold chest and he gets to harvest as he chooses from the rest of the herbs. He funds his final herb for foundation pill and is happily harvesting other rare herbs when the sounding of last call to portal is hear. It is not shown how they escape the cave but everybody alive does make it out. Han Li gives a few of his precious herbs to the clan and it happens to be just enough for his leader to win the bet.😂 He makes up a story about how he got them and pretended to be a scavenger more than a forager. This humble response moves him to the head of the class to become leader’s disciple. He is given a new sword training technique as a welcome to his new status. The goal is to get to level 13 ASAP. Grandmaster returns to moon shadow clan and her leader is unhappy with her condition. The blood spirit flower has been sent by messenger to the Yan clan and she is told to cultivate and get her level back ASAP. I smirk as she keeps hearing Han Li try to introduce himself to her. I think she is changing her mind to never meet again.😂 The demon invaders have the flower for the Yan clan but also more in store. They greet the messenger arriving with flower by killing her. The Yan liaisons sent to greet messenger are forced to invite demonic group instead. This has been highly criticized by comments and I can’t disagree. This was completely preventable had the moon shadow group sent guards with her and treated as a higher priority with attacks possible en route. This is where the leadership of the seven sects failed because they did not share intel of sleeper invaders to avoid appearing weak. Each wanted to handle it privately when discovered. The aunt and nephew have a confrontation where she mocks him for trying to marry into the Yan clan. He is not dissuaded in his plan but is annoyed she is aware of it before it has been put into action. The drama is making the demon sect more humerous than expected.

Here comes the cavalry

This Li is everything that is wrong with cowardly leadership. He hopes to eliminate two stones at once…the violated women and the Wutuo. Men would be accepted and honored and women a scourge and embarrassment.😝🤬 Chu actually tried to stand up for them. He has more spine than Li. There is a lot wrong with him, but he despises betrayers of the weak and colluding with Wutuo. In this, in spite of his grey character, he is a true patriot. When He Yan’s arrow hits the gate I cheered for her. She stepped in and forced them to do better and come up with a real plan. While she is in the middle of her sword speech and which direction it should be pointing Xiao Jue shows up to back her. The flashback to classroom and his ‘you’ve never changed’ confirmed everything. They are united in sword and spirit to win this. The battle is well done. You are riveted in your seat rooting for them to win. Her anguished cries when she thought Xiao Jue had fallen were so real. His swooping in to finish off the general and saying he can’t die because she still lives.🥰❤️and when their comrade ‘the punisher’ comes in with reinforcements. It brought their class full circle in victory. I will always believe that Li was the worst of the eight, (which is probably why he was the one spared by He RuFei😝) but I did respect his comment on how he said He Yan reminded him of how his general used to be. Maybe he will end up becoming a better man. Chu came through with provisions. He and Xiao Jue inadvertently worked together early to have reinforcements and provisions ready as early as possible even tho late for the battle. When Xiao Jue and Chu both grab He Yan’s arm to not be poached by new commander.😂Both let each other know that while in agreement that the choice is completely General Wu an’s, they will be watching her closely and personally.😂Xiao Jue’s hesitation at her door and her walking out to him. The meeting under the tree to discuss the meaning of message and pouch. He Yan being served by her men.🥰😂 The way they sit as both a couple and generals discussing their next plans. She wants her loving brother to know she is alive and she wants to head to the capitol to find evidence against him and magistrate Xu. She’s had enough of their crap and ready to take them down, no matter what and Xiao Jue will be at her side and covering her back while she does it. I love these two❤️ There has been a lot of justified (and not) criticism of this drama, but for me, I really appreciate and enjoy the efforts put into it. I am looking forward to how they bring down these traitorous asses, and expect to enjoy every minute of it.

Bloody trials days 2-5

I was surprised that this one from moon shadow sect was pure apex predator. She was out to kill immediately without hunting for herbs at all. Han Li saves his fellow disciple but it was quite a battle. I am liking his spider web weapon. It’s a very cool means of literally tying up enemy. She has hauled out a pearl and ready to finish him off when the lunatic cloud walker shows up to finish her off instead. The battle has now upped its level because he is far faster and more experienced. His lament when Han Li uses the pearl on him followed up by the thunder and lightning blast artifact. Nothing is left of the lunatic but his boots. The beast kingdom merchant is also there looking for solar flower for her brother. Han Li sees his little sister in her and helps her look for it. The beast kingdom is infiltrated by demon sect warriors. I am inclined to think the leader is well aware of what’s happening and allowing it. He acts cagey as well as loyal. The recruits are dropping like flies and only yellow leaf leader seems concerned with it. The beast leader counters that fighting will indeed be more fierce because 6o year wait til next harvest. Han Li and merchant girl come across a cagey beast guy in a cave offering maps. He trades with them but then sets them up to be killed. This plot with the two brainiacs that lost their rare mushroom to Han Li.😂 Beast girl has invisible cloak and needed herb so she is left to hide til last day and make him flatbreads. 😄 He continues to look for the last ingredient for foundation pill. He discovers that the cave is a dead end and as he makes his way to exit he sees a group of moon shadow disciples with the grandmaster as leader. He feels it is prudent to hide. There is a water beast that starts attacking when grandmaster tried opening the gold chest. The devious trader from last cave sealed them in and they now know it’s a kill or be killed scenario with water beast. Han Li continues to hide and observe the battle. The women learned it is a different beast than thought and this one can shed skin and evolve to level two. The battle s here really look like a living video game. It was quite well done. When the grandmaster is last ine left she chides Han Li to show himself and help or die. When he protests that she might kill him she reminds him he would die either way. He has one last trick up his sleeve, the golden brick talisman. They learn it is painfully slow to set up. When grandmaster almost gives up on it, it activates and kills off the monster. They have survived the battle by the skin of their teeth and the episode ends. These battles are quite exciting and well choreographed, whether between characters or characters and beasts. Production did a decent job with this. The actors depict the scene quite well and the fantastical comes off pretty real looking. These trials are exciting to watch and entertaining.

They have not revealed their agenda yet, but they are as vile as the others that openly wanted him dead. Tingyan sees the living puppets as automatons that feel real. I think her viewing them as NPC’s in a game eliminates the horror of mind and soul being removed from a human. She has become a fairytale princess and is enjoying the wardrobe and jewelry upgrade. She really doesn’t want to go to the next round of duals, but is ‘gently’ persuaded by Jiao that it is in her best interest to go. They both are surprised when she asks to change clothes and she starts taking off her robe in front of him.😂 The second round is getting ready to begin. The others note the guardian’s lack of outrage at the deaths of the disciples. They have not quite put it together that he is as greedy as they are. He is just more prepared to play the long game. In this respect, so is Jiao. It will be very interesting to watch these two go head to head in strategizing.
