Relationships

This episode shows the chasm Man sees between her and Kai Xi’s social status. She was made acutely aware of this at the exclusive clothing store that would not give her access to the store until their private viewing was over. When her friend invited her up so casually that struck a chord. Man is both jealous of and relieved she does not have the married life of her friend. I wish Kai Xi would have approached QingCheng differently. Fake friendship wasn’t necessary. She could have been up front about her husband instead of assuming she was a younger gold digger that didn’t care about pursuing married men. Kai Xi’s husband is a POS who gives valentine gifts to multiples. I don’t think he would be of real interest to the dancer if she knew. I liked how Man cornered the couple therapy’s exploiting fears of housewives by offering ways to ‘change’ at very high prices for their products and services promising 100% success when truly meaning we will make you pay til success is reached no matter how long that may take. While promising refunds, they made sure to press another service with hope of success rather than refunding for failed venture. 🙄 Kai Xi did have a candid conversation once Man was booted from the room and it was sad that she hid all this from everyone. She is ashamed and feels truly alone. Zhou MuSun has started chatting with Man who is enjoying pushing his buttons. She has better understanding of the theme her diva actress wants and why there is an audience. While writing a script she sees the cheater and the dancer coming to meet him. This is after hearing about the special breakfast Kai Xi had prepared for him. He is such a loser.😝😡

Best friends

This episode did an excellent job showing the complexities of best friend relationships. Man has always believed that her best friend did not think she measured up to introduce her to eligible men and Kai Xi had completely different motives for not. QingCheng has become her competition with her husband, so she was trying to appeal to her ego with flattery and introduce her to a different red flag to steer her away from hubby. What originally came across as a slighting of best friend was actually using that relationship as steady undercurrent to get through difficult situations. You have to admire Man’s ‘research’ and brazenness including herself at the dinner. This was the point where Kai Xi should have explained why she was playing matchmaker. As close as these two actually are, they really struggle with direct communication. 😝 But what does come across, even if after the fact, is how enduring their friendship really is.

Shades of gray

This drama is unique in that none of the leads are really the team we expected when drama started. They are all mutually weak links for their cause for very different reasons. So far we have a bunch of victims and a lot of morally bankrupt people in positions that should be protecting them rather than exploiting them. We have one good guy in the detective, who will hopefully stay that way in spite of his wife’s infidelity. She is most likely pregnant with the only other good guy , the reporter, who was trying to expose connect app and died for his efforts. The detectives are a juxtaposition of good and evil as we see how creepy and amoral his partner is behind the scene. It is especially sinister that he gets by with antagonizing the first victim while she’s sitting beside her lawyer. These three gals are exceptionally smart but all seem to struggle with common sense things. You can’t have a person housebound and have water and condiments in the fridge so they are forced to leave just to get a meal, or badger a witness with numerous texts to be sure she’s endangered. The one who relies on mother’s money and then trusts the wrong law partner. Now it’s IT guy. Is this really better? And the one who slept with her ex, removed evidence and lost evidence. Each episode flips your bias and perspective with highly tense situations meshing reality with public perception. It does an excellent job of frustrating you with the plight of the victims and the assistance or lack thereof from lawyers and justice system. You keep getting drawn into their web as the gray characters swirl around deciding the degree they can help or hurt.

Ending and beginning

I really enjoyed this drama. I thought the acting from entire cast and pacing quite good. They wrapped up everything nicely and gave everybody happy endings. I was not offended by how they ended the drama. It definitely changed the perspective of what occurred, but I liked how they were reintroduced and the implied happy ending as they exited. I would both recommend and rewatch this. Kudos to the cast for such well done characters and the production team for pacing things well. It was a fun and thoughtful story.

Wanted Gil Dong

Second son thinks he can set up Prince and HongSi stopped him. Unfortunately left chancellor got ahold of a wanted poster and is letting the king go wild with judgment. Second son is going to pay penance by claiming he’s GilDong but his plan is thwarted again by a plethora of Gil Dongs canvassing the village. Left chancellor runs into the real Gil-dong and his crimes are posted everywhere. The king is the only one that hasn’t seen or recognized them yet. Finally the Im we all love to hate is again arrested. Hopefully second son will leave it that way this time. HongSi runs into another Gil Dong that happens to be the Prince. He has rescued Jang and the necessary incense materials to stabilize king. The king is outside with a squadron of guards all ready to kill them. He doesn’t know or care who’s locked up in the shed, he just counts them guilty. This is the saddest I’ve felt about a couple’s lengthy kiss. ❤️😭 This episode was exciting and things are coming to a head with the lead players positioned against each other. I don’t wanna wait a week to find out what happens.😝😭

Fallout and flipped objective

Kim Mi Suk was left to bear the brunt of the blame for bank fund collapse. She represented all the everyday workers that suffered because of the greed and corruption of those in charge of the nation’s money. Ms Hong got to see directly the fallout from her report preventing them assistance. She stopped their slush fund from growing but she now sees why Yehppie was pissed off at her. Circumstances change and she’s staying at work. It was satisfying to watch her take down that mid-management jerk while appalling he is going to be the new face of the bank’s progress. She finally gets her hands on the ledger only to find they won’t do anything about it because of the country’s financial turmoil. Her ex has his choice of investing partner taking over the bank’s debt, but it is still unclear what side of the legal line he is on with these choices. Mi Suk knew Ms Hong from her accounting days and her ex tried to mitigate her circumstances by only having her fired. Little by little we are getting her backstory. Queen B recieved a surprising opportunity from Ms Hong. Will they now become partners in crime? Interesting twists and turns this episode. The players are lining up for the big showdown.

What were they thinking?

The month contract was right on cue to set up their co existence. The boiler scenario was a way to move things along but why didn’t she just visit her best friend who works at same place and knows her situation? This dragging around with wet hair was just odd. She does not seem surprised her ex works there so was this a means she used to re establish contact? His man bonding with neighbor to try to get free boiler fix seemed an expedient move, but his butting into her text to property owner did not. He’s leaving in a month and he shouldn’t have interfered to complicate things with lies. He did the right thing earning the money to fix it since his ‘tool’ buddy finished breaking things.😝 He just now gets to see how his actions at interview affected her and she has to acknowledge that money was needed to fix the house. He is acting petty about his room but the camera is a poignant moment as he is still trying to sort out why his brother left him. She is distressed because this is the time big sis always stepped in to fix things. This is her first rainy day they are not celebrating together and she has joined gloomy roomie in thinking it sucks to be cold and wet. Their drinking together resulted in unexpected sleeping arrangements and they are both stunned to find themselves in same bed. TBH I have no idea what I just watched. It is a complete mess compared to the first two episodes. There was no rush for relationships needed. I wish they would have given more baby care acclimation time for them than whatever this was.

New opportunities

Taiga gets his first try at catering and it went very well. I liked how he tried out his recipes and tested them at various times to see quality change waiting for clients to eat. He took his job very seriously and saw to every detail. The odd circumstance was tossing in his old girlfriend. Here he should have mentioned to his current girlfriend just to avoid any misunderstandings. Rin is finishing up her project for graduation and her Gingrich animation was noted by an elderly woman. Her point of view does come across with the translated menus she created and her blending of cultures. She should have asked Taiga directly how he felt instead of going to senior. It wasn’t that he gave her bad advice, but how could he know Taiga’s opinion when they are not friends and his crush is visible to everyone but her. Rin seems very busy as she goes through her school projects. But she doesn’t have any particular focus because she is going from point to point completing as required rather than having a specific view where her efforts embellish her main focus. I want her to succeed but her efforts seem rather lackluster. She is floating along comparing herself to classmates rather than really determining what she wants. She goes to celebrate with Taiga and finds him talking to his ex when the episode ends. It is interesting how Taiga’s friend tries to cheer up Rin’s senior. He has become a ‘brother’ to her gambling boyfriend. She really needs to move on but she doesn’t see any better options so she puts up with him.I am sad for her because she is so capable with this huge exception.

Financial chaos

This episode was packed with a lot going on. Ms Hong cleverly figured out who Yehppie is but by the end of the episode completely alienated him from wanting to work with her. Queen B was all set to tattle on Hong and then found out she took a hit for her brother. That was a strong conscience battle for her. Too many people know who Hong really is and everything is coming to a head. There is a financial crisis for all of Korea and because of Ms Hong’s tampering with their cooked books, their bank did not qualify for assistance. What is more interesting is Shin knew he had taken her file instead of the one prepared by the bank. Who did Shin meet with the second time when he wanted out and gone from the bank? Mi Suk was so happy selling the New Korea fund to people and now she is the most hated person in her branch. The chairman has lost it because his slush fund won’t be further funded and Ms Hong finds out her dad contributed to the new Korea fund and only received 20% of his investment when he sold it back the next day. Because Hong had Al cover for her, Shin thinks she was working jointly with Bang and had no problem using her file. Bang has washed his hands of it all where Hong is concerned. We find out why he got in this mess 9 years ago and he finds out why she did what she did. What was unexpected is that they are now on each side rather than working together. He sees her as trashing the livelihoods of the employees at the bank and she sees it as justice and vengeance for her mentor.

Justice circumvented

It is hard to know who is crazier between Im’s first son and the King. Both actors pull off absolute crazy well. The left minister has no depth he won’t sink to. He murdered his son while offering hope. I cannot figure out the second son’s reasoning siding with his father. In his quest to get rid of the competition this was his solution? He is the actual brains of the family, why doesn’t he use them? Enmity with the Prince for a treasonous father and brother is his best course so his sufferings not in vain?😝 Hong’s shields have now become crossed blades with a crazed king tossed in for ambiance. Neither of them should have been surprised that she gave herself up to stop second son’s plot for Prince. At first I was hoping second son could be spared from the ambition and treason of his father and brother. He has now shown his determination to join them and finish the work they started. I find his actions worse because he recognizes their acts as vile and he won’t leave the course. I was hoping he was deceiving his father to plot with the prince but his actions definitely say otherwise. He deserves whatever fate comes his way, but unfortunately these blades will make Ms Hong deal with fate first.

Finally getting to the actual case

This episode is finally filling in some info about the actual case. Al is investigating because he is sad his uncle was not even recognized as a person to be mourned by his family or the company. That has led him to the body shop where he almost joined the slush fund girl. He recognizes that his safety is now in question and he teams with Ms Hong to get to the truth. Shin knows what’s up and confirms it with Hong’s boss. It is still unclear what his actual role is but he knows about Hong and why. He has learned what happened to her and he’s surprised and annoyed she has stuck to her principles and lost face with her colleagues as a result. I am glad he decked that asshat brother and has him sent back to jail. Queen B does not deserve to deal with him in spite of her scheming ways. Nora knew the best way to handle playground bullies - have the latest greatest toy. This has rescued their little roommate, but they did not realize how that made her mom feel as a result. She dealt with her daughter sneaking out and Ms Hong did a good thing helping make a doll house for the paper dolls. I really like her character addition to the story. She will probably have investments down pat by the end of the drama.😂 She is studying the terms on her own while the grownups ignore her. The remnants of slush fund are now in Ms Hong’s account and Queen B is aware. Her chance at all of it was snatched by gangster guy so now to see how she proceeds. I wonder what Hong was thinking when she saw his ring on the top of the desk? She missed a meeting with Yheppie and is cornering her leader in risk and development to draw him out since she now knows the file originated from the 7th floor. Shin has inserted his own plan for dealing with the bank and doesn’t want interference from Hong. It remains to be seen if they are working for the same side.

Her shields form an alliance to protect her and the people want Gil Dong to lead revolt

It was not a wayward arrow that killed her father, but he was not made prey as first led to believe. The emperor saw what he wanted to see in a drug induced hallucination. He was horrified by what he did.The arrow that should have pierced the Prince’s heart was stopped by his life pendant. His kindness to his little bro and the returned kindness saved his life. The Prince and second son save her by cooperating to plant an arrow where Ms Hong said she tossed it. Both were brave and faced death for what they did. The Prince gives words about his health so the second son can relay it verbatim to her. They relay back and forth how to handle things so she won’t kill herself or act rashly. The Prince uses strong trees and humor to make her not dwell on who got her arrow. He wants her to want to live and not harbor guilt for him. The people are mourning the death of the last honorable magistrate from the court. She spoke so plainly how his own family could not cry out at the injustice of his death or let their mourning be heard lest his majesty be disturbed by it. Her agony and the sympathy of both her shields is palpable this episode. They determine to keep her safe from the powers that be and are united in their noble cause. The emperor has been out for days because of the drug and is becoming a living corpse as the secretary wants. Originally I pitied the emperor being surrounded by such vipers, but after his treatment of the magistrate’s son and his own brother, he deserves them. It is obvious that weak whiny boy couldn’t shoot an arrow across the courtyard much less the distance HongSi did. The men cannot fathom a woman having that much skill. The people are asking for Gil Dong to lead a revolt and are asking her directly to lead the charge. The prince confronts his brother and boldly states the one endangering him is his majesty. The blade is drawn and for the third time the Prince is asked to repeat what he said. The second son witnesses the soul swap and Ms Hong again finds herself with a blade at her throat but this time as the prince. She has quickly figured out the situation but I am curious what she is going to say to the emperor next episode.

Greatest happiness and deepest sorrow

Ngl I enjoyed her making the first son crazy with her arrows. He deserved so much more. The Prince did his best to try to teach him the difference between men and beasts but it fell on deaf ears. The second son did an evil thing, but no one died and he repented on his own when he saw what almost happened. The first son went because he was terrified of Dil Gong. They have a night of making wishes and lighting lanterns.🥰 The Prince has destroyed all his evidence and leaving Joseon to keep the father’s wish. He is heartbroken but accepts it. His mother realizes the Prince truly loves her but also knows she isn’t a match her son can have. She is doing her part to keep HingSi’s name silenced and not heard by his majesty. The father did a good thing taking his son away with him. But it turned into tragedy when the emperor’s stray arrow killed his dad. That boy is kinda a useless noisemaker, but he carried his father home and grew up some. He is out of his mind and not accepting the death. Second son was there to catch Ms Hong as she collapsed. He and Prince are both finding their better selves because of her. She cannot let her father’s death go, nor should she. But the prince intercepted the arrow to save her. His smile said that’s my girl even as his life was endangered. This sad twist of fate has both freed and imprisoned Ms Hong again. She is not bound by her father’s wishes anymore but her vengeance has brought serious consequences to her and the remainder of her family. I find myself shedding tears for all of them.😭

Cherished moments and evil intentions

This covered so much. Her father returned and marriage proposal from Prince. The father is giving her the same fate tho in a kinder gentler way. I want better for her destiny. The second son is considering her now more openly. I don’t think he would have fired that fire arrow had he known she was made the target. When the prince saved her….it was perfection. ❤️The doawager is expecting a marriage with Prince and the one with broken engagement. She has had the most encounters with them swapped and not swapped. I would like her to have a good fate too, but not with the second son. The leper colony has now brought Gil Dong back to life and the monks want to use that image. All those actions from the emperor seems to be while he was under the drug’s influence. He did not look like a rational person when he did all those evil things. I despise the first son more than the second. He made the situation a just cause to send troops to slaughter those at leper colony and he is supposed to know medicine. 😝 I have no use for his character 😡he is worse than his father and I did not think that possible. I was relieved the magistrate wasn’t in this episode. His pretense of friendship while he returns evil for kindness gets on my last nerve. I would like to see a way for the prince and HongSi, but her own father is literally putting his life on the line to prevent it from happening. I do not think the prince knows that the land he gave them was given to Im family to release HongSi. I am happy she is out from under them, but her brother is an ass and her father forbids her life in the palace so I hope he is this adamant in refusing any proposal from second son should he make a move. This would return her to hostage status with them and her father sees the palace as a death sentence for her. I want her to have a third option. The prince is cherishing every moment with her because he sees it as his last day to be with her openly without disobeying her father’s wishes.

Roomie solidarity

Nora’s mom is truly a force to be reckoned with. She is currently pushing Nora into a relationship with Mr Shin. Ms Hong’s dept continues to be rather lackluster in developing anything not initiated by her. She wants the outstanding woman award from the bank and sees that candidates get slush fund deposits to their account. Queen B notices and plans to steal it when she sees one candidate died. She actually tried to warn Ms Hong to not take any money falling from the sky. She gets letters from her brother and panics. She sets a date for end of November to clear out before her brother is released from prison. Unfortunately big bro is released from prison early. Queen B’s bro is exactly like YiBo from twelve letters. 😡 iykyk🤬The girls rally around Queen B and promise to help shield her. What is very funny is Mr Shin getting their attacks directed at him. If he knew that coat got him in trouble, he’d never wear it again.😂🤣 Nora went out with him and still pepper sprayed him. Now Nora and mom thinks he likes her. This caused a very fun interaction in his office.🤣😂Shin wants to get Ms Hong out of the bank, but whether it’s for her safety or for him to cover his doings remains to be seen. Her date with Albert was delayed but they actually had it. When she cancels the movie date he is supposed to be at a family gathering. However Mr Shin shows up there and Albert shows up to the location Ms Hong is investigating. He is also quite chummy with gangster guy who transported the girl that ended up dead. They have hidden her murder by having it treated as a suicide. So who is Albert really? How much is he like gpa? Tbh this twist was unexpected. He seemed too lazy to be a bad guy. And there is the mysterious caller trying to rat out Ms Hong. Loving the rapport the roommates are developing but there is also a stronger undercurrent of bad things coming.
