Xu Xiang sends son to get Chu Lan when they discover the puppet brother and he is killed by his Qi getting taken. They are going to try to protect him from Sinister Pleasure. Chu Lan is told that BaoBao has clear Qi and is different from other outsiders because of it. A would be assassin disguises himself as Chu Lan and causes grave injury to Xu Xiang before they get back. The assassin is found but there is not much time left for their father. He tells them the story of when he first met Feng BaoBao.

This is first time Chu Lan has made me do more than roll my eyes. His battle and assessment this episode is first real growth I’ve noticed in his character. His invite from the elders has a dark hint to it with the young man truth tester surprised at the results. Chu Lan gets to see a memory which makes him doubt BaoBao. SinisterPleasure is casting a variety of webs to create spots of chaos. The martial arts contest is now working down to top 16. Zhuge Qing and Wang Ye have an insightful encounter in competition arena when saving a contestant from 4 crazies puppet.

BaoBao and Wang Ye still my favorites. They have least amount of dialogue yet most impactful in their scenes.😂 Zhuge Qing is an interesting character. He can predict attacks and redirect them. Chu Lan makes it through his round but definitely by lack of good sportsmanship. He is now on the outs with everybody and should be.😝 BaoBao has a plan to assist his next battle. This episode lets us see outsider powers and/or get a bit of their history. Still working on getting from 128 contestants to 32.

All the outsiders are traveling to Longhu Mountain for the martial arts contest. BaoBao at airport🤣 she is still my favorite with Wang Ye a close second. He helps Chu Lan get a visit with the Grandmaster to learn more about his grandfather, but he won’t reveal anything to Chu Lan unless he wins. He runs into Zhuge Qing and isn’t impressed because he is an idol. Getting to the entrance was a bit more of a challenge for Chu Lan🤣 BaoBao is already promised a battle because she defeated a brother of one of the participants. Feng Qing Tong likes to gossip more than Chu Lan. The fighters are now collected together and the competition is getting ready to begin.

Chu lan was justified in his anger with Bao Bao. She was out of line and misunderstood him. She returns to NDT headquarters at a complete loss as to how to get him to come back. While they are separated, the Feng family move in to try to get him to sign with the all-encompassing guild. You have to feel for Feng Sha Yan. She is such a capable daughter and the dad only sees her as a pawn. In spite of his great gift he is a big waste of space to me. She really needs to get away from him but is most likely a filial daughter and will do whatever he says. Chu Lan shows some wisdom in condemning her father’s actions and as he is trying to escape, he finds Bao Bao has come to rescue him. Wang Ying Lu does a very funny job pretending to not be able to walk in heels. Bao Bao gives him power over her actions and his decree to stand while he deliberates what to do gets her killed. For this, I am as disgusted with him as I am with Feng Zheng Hao. They both leave a bad taste after this episode.😝

Chu Lan received his invite to the open martial arts contest in Longhu mountain. He has begun training with BaoBao. It started off ok but she threw a bunch of women at him and Chu Lan has finally matured enough to tell her he would rather die than lose his honor. He is fed up with all of them now and has left. Wang Ye has requested to join the competition but is told that the Gale Gate would be stolen by others if he tried to use it. He finds Master Hong and learns from Great Ape how to work the spell. Because he isn’t greedy or seeking anything specific from it, he is given the power to master it. He can freely leave his own phantasmagoria. He is unique and most capable.

Chu Lan’s grandfather goes to update his ID and tells his grandson he will be home in three days. He does get home but was in a battle of some kind and dies there. He is later blamed for the deaths of ten outsiders. Chu Lan is working in NDT and doesn’t want any trouble. He finds himself being tested because everybody thinks he has the Qi Apotheosis passed down from grandfather. The all-encompassing guild kidnap him but they are interrupted by another group. Taoists test him and aren’t convinced until he shows them gold brilliance spell. This definitely ticks off Zhang Ling Yu and he knocks him into a cliff….Chu Lan emerges ticked off himself.

Wang ye is my second favorite character. I like his I don’t give a crap attitude. 😂 He has cornered his grandfather with a question about whether or not he (grandfather) was on a train in the year Jiashen. We learn more about Chu Lan’s history. He was raised by his grandfather, but we are not told where or what happened to his parents. It is shown that Chu Lan had special abilities that his grandfather suppressed, to keep him both hidden and out of trouble. The thrall fight is a bit silly til BaoBao shows up. She puts a whole new level to whack a mole. With her intervention Chu Lan is seeing the inside of NDT rather than Sinister Pleasure. Their mission is to maintain balance while the other side is there are no rules.

The background of the story is about 8 super powers that the outsiders want. There is a guy digging up graves when he is scared off by zombies/thralls. Zhang Chu Lan is introduced and he is the fumbling college student that doesn’t want to make waves or really stand out. He is called home when his grandfather’s body is literally removed from his grave. The villagers want to know what he wants done about it. He meets Feng Bao Bao who has excellent combat skills and is freakishly scary in all the good ways. I can already tell she is gonna be my favorite character. The body was taken to Sinister Pleasure where a ghost whisperer is taking energy from it to see if he can gain the superpower the grandpa had. Feng Bao Bao tells Zhang Chu Lan that he is her slave. Their relationship is going to be interesting. One other character makes an appearance,. Wang Ye sees a massacre on a train and trying to figure out how this is possible. The fight scenes are well done. Even when outrageously silly I am thoroughly entertained.

This episode gave us Geu-ru’s history and the loving couple that both found him and kept him as theirs. It was very touching how they found out about his autism and how he inspired them with his interesting point of view. At first, I thought Jeong-u was careless and hadn’t prepared for his son when he died unexpectedly. But this episode proved he looked out for every detail and the only thing that delayed it for so long was Geu-ru’s reluctance to let go. Sang-gu’s determination to do what was best for his nephew even pretending to be glad his trial period guardianship was over was touching tho misguided. The tears in his eyes when his nephew specifically requested him to remain told him and the lawyer that it was a good match in spite of how it came about. I am really glad they did not use manager as a possible hook for season 2. With her ear out the window at the detective I was waiting for her to still have his paperwork. I am not sure if this ending indicated a part 2, but this girl seems as interesting as Geu-ru. This was an excellent drama. I enjoyed the story and the acting. I was not really even aware of the music much in this drama compared to others, but the classical choices were soothing when I did hear it. The production staff did a wonderful job of making this come to life. It will have you weeping often, but it will leave your heart full with good feelings.

This episode tells the tragic story of a baby put up for adoption. Everything was set until the couple learned that the baby had a congenital heart condition. This resulted in the poor child being handed about from family to family but never finding a true home. A picture amongst his keepsakes made him seek out the woman in Korea he believed to be his mother. He made several attempts to find her but she would not give her name or contact information; even after the desolate young man died in Korea. Geu-ru once again manages to literally piece things together and track down the newscaster in the photograph. Here he and Sang-Gu learn she was not the mom but familiar with his case because he stayed with her family til transit to US. She had always figured he lived a good life once adopted there, but learned that was not the case. She even learned that she had met him at a book signing, but he did not reveal his identity to her. He respected that she did not want to meet him but he still wanted to meet her. Sang-gu’s understanding of this was very special. We are now given insight why he refused to see his brother when in prison. It made both young men’s stories tragic because life would have been different had that one conversation taken place for both of them. They would both have received the loving family they were looking for. The one thing she could do was broadcast his case over the air in a newscast saying more needed to be done to help these children not claimed by any country. And the softness seen in Sang-Gu as he made breakfast for Geu-ru and Na-Mu; that was so long to happen but once it did, he has truly found his place in his family. He was surprised that Geu-ru knew he was adopted and realized he was lucky that his father loved him very much or his story would have been the same as Matthew’s. That was a poignant moment between him and Sang-Gu because Sang-Gu didn’t give his nephew enough credit in some respects and he underestimated his brother as well being truthful to his adopted son. But the lesson of love has finally sunk in if he can get past this last battle to get the deed and his contract back. Here again is where I completely loathe the lady manager. She is truly a piece of work in all the bad ways. This proves how well the cast acts since I am so invested in liking or despising them. I find these scenarios very believable and thought provoking. It makes us recognize the beauty and awfulness of death and how that impacts us in unexpected ways. That the final items in those heart boxes tell us their stories from beyond the grave and that it is worth our time to pay attention as noting a life well lived or cautionary tale of what to avoid. Either way it gives us the potential to be better people.

First, I absolutely detest that woman manager🤬 She said she did not ‘want’ to hurt a child, but never said she would not. I really want to see the strings cut with this woman and hope this fight truly ends it. But she is so evilly opportunistic that I am not sure how it can be done as long as she exists on the planet. This is juxtaposed with the beautifully done tributes from his older brother. The irony of thinking he is protecting Geu-ru to finding it as a memorial to his ten year old self making birthday wishes. After all these years to find out that he was not deserted and that his brother had never stopped looking for him to explain things. It is sad they did not get that healing conversation but is consoling that Geu-ru once again gets to the heart of the matter with his photographic memory of facts and his unrelenting determination to carry out this ritual he and his dad had observed every year for his uncle. As Sang-Gu processes the gifts and true reason Jeong-u never showed, he learns Geu-ru was adopted. This episode moves one beyond tears it is so impactful. The cast and production gave us perfect understanding of Jeong-u’s love for his family.

We finally get some insight about Sang-gu’s past and why he is so angry with his brother. The blossoming friendship with Kim Su Cheol and the tragedy of losing him. That manager is beyond evil in how she orchestrates things and I am very annoyed she has deed. I am surprised this episode did not make me cry. I was too angry at smug manager. I agree with the sis that Su Cheol waited for Sang-Gu to get out of prison to have a chance to say goodbye and then let his spirit go free,

This was a powerful episode. We see the quiet life of an elderly couple who love each other deeply, the social worker and young girl who kept an eye on them, and the callousness of the workplace where seniors are not respected or remembered. It is such an amalgam of bitter and sweet that rounds up the course of living a good life but with no family to carry on legacy. I like that the social worker opens Sang gu’s eyes to their predicament. He needed an education in understanding. I am glad that the plants’ meanings showed love and devotion. That to the end he took care of her and left on his own terms.

So many tears watching this. In spite of his efforts not only did big sis be the hero for school bus, she also left message for HX not to try again. This was done very well and her love for her brother and determination to protect those children was just so powerful. They did a good job with crash effects and the children singing in background made it more poignant. They run through a mini recap of their missions and finally have LY with white hair. I am hoping the end request results in a season 2 because this was very well done and deserves another season.
