a question after episode 52: Who is this Lord Wen Chang again??
This wasn't in the novel. There are certain theories about it floating on the web.
1. Feng Jiu's destined person was probably Dong Hua Di Jun but because he forcibly removed his name, it changed the characters to Wen Chang Di Jun. He is just another name to fill in the empty spot because it is the Rock of Fates (or whatever it is subtitled as) and everyone has a partner.
2. It is actually Dong Hua Di Jun with another name. That's what most people are hoping for. After all, people in this story have taken multiple identities already. Wen Chang is supposed to be in control of the fates of everyone and is supposedly the boss of Si Ming. However, the boss of Si Ming, isn't that DHDJ? That's how the speculation goes.
Guys, is there anyone who've seen BOTH ice fantasy and eternal love? And i don't mean just a few episodes,…
Also, this might be the first time in forever where I didn't feel like the ending was rushed. The director/staff managed to fit all the important elements of the novel nicely into this drama without leaving out much. They even elaborated on the FJ and DHDJ couple! Happy watching!
Guys, is there anyone who've seen BOTH ice fantasy and eternal love? And i don't mean just a few episodes,…
I saw both dramas completely, and I never liked Ice Fantasy TBH. I read the novel for Eternal Love long before it became adapted as a drama, and I have to say, the novel captivated me, and the drama did too because of how similar it was to the novel.
I think you would like Eternal Love, and might ship Feng Jiu and Dong Hua Di Jun couple, as I did. I never thought Yang Mi and Mark Chao fit the main leads, but they did really well despite not fitting my visual expectations.
Even compared with Hua Qian Gu, I would put this drama as the top novel-drama adaptation of RECENT years. Please try it out, it's great! IF YOU ARE IN FOR THE ROMANCE, this is definitely THE drama for you. Really romance-oriented!
This review touched my heart. I also rated 6.5 just for my bias for Wallace :l I really don't think AB should have been the actress for this drama, it didn't even fit the novel description :(
It's nice to hear someone talk about the BTS of a Chinese drama :D
Thanks for bringing notice to WHY PEOPLE DUB & the hard work actors/actresses put into their job during the hot seasons :(
I didn't think they filmed all of this in one season. Looking at the scenery, it looked like it would have taken a whole year to get all the shots they wanted! Thanks for the article, much appreciated :D
Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uqsm8asW-a8
Voices aren't dubbed yet in the trailer! :D
He still has an accent so it's not up to mainland standards yet. You can check out how he's speaking in his recent variety shows. Of course he can easily transition from cantonese to mandarin, because he just needs to alter sounds and tones, but it's a heavy cantonese/tw kind of accent on it, and not many HK/TW actors/actresses get by in mainland dramas without being dubbed in the standard beijing dialect.

subs up to episode 5
Basically, every segment where the Viki team put their sub credit, BoxAsian just replaced the crediting with their name. For episode 5, one of our crediting lines is @ 4:48 but instead it says Subtitle by BoxAsian.
If proof is what it takes to say that Viki subbed this first, and BoxAsian is only taking the subtitles and replacing our credits with theirs, it can easily be done after I publish a couple of lines of text at a specific time for a specific episode and see how it would compare to them. I wish there was a way I can talk to a BoxAsian admin, but I didn't see a way to contact anyone either.
No harm done with your comment, just wanted to clarify the situation as to why that site specifically shouldn't be publicized.

subs up to episode 5
And if you think about it, people who are not properly credited for can actually lose their inspiration to help you subtitle this series.
I, for one, translated all the OSTs and it was edited with another subtitler. I spent hours making sure each line of lyric is translated as accurately as possible while still making sense. However, now these translated lyrics of mine are being uploaded onto another site without permission, and without proper credit.
Sure, you can have another site to watch this, but no need to publicize these links and share them. It is true disrespect to everyone who has worked hard on these episodes, even if it was only being translated to Viki community.
The least that site, BoxAsian, can do is to provide proper credits.
Right now, I'm feeling a lot less motivated to work on subbing for this series, I probably won't be working as hard, and once the Viki volunteer team drops this project, where will you guys find your subtitles?

subs up to episode 5
Those subs are coming straight from Viki, and volunteers worked hard on those subtitles :/ BoxAsian replaced Viki's team credits and put their own name on there which is pretty wrong. Please don't support sites like this. Viki volunteers segment, sub, and check all translations in their own time during their busy week.
It really shows that this drama was shot several years ago, because of the storyline is one often used and shown…
I think in this case, Xin Tong's "mother" is even worse. Maybe it's cause I watched up to episode 11 now but I can't stand her either. She thinks she owes Zhi Zhen a lot, but why can't she think how much Xin Tong's biological parents owe her? >_> I totally agree with your feelings on that mother.
Maybe it's because of the training I had with Chinese dramas, tragic endings don't affect me all that much. Sure it still hurts, and I still get mad, and give a bad rating for its crappy ending (I'll probably change it later after my feelings have settled down), but I just kinda assume every drama will give me a crappy ending now, so no big impact.
Mothers in Chinese dramas are just as evil to give their rich kids what they should need than listen to what they want, and it's also anticipated in each drama. Not only evil mothers, but the lines of fate, gods, and everything that can be predestined and supernatural are expected to ruin the main characters' relationships LOL. My hatred for this kind of thing has dulled over time.
Meanwhile, the other things STILL happen and I'M NEVER PREPARED FOR IT. Every year, I go thinking, everything will be better. More actual kissing, maybe more second leads get the girl (I mean in Diamond Lover, the second lead got the girl, oh yeah! And this was the spoiler) , more stronger female leads. Then I watch a few things (Cinderella and Four Knights... she was so badass, wtf happened - another spoiler) and ugh... female leads do get stupider with each episode, huh. And well, I don't think I'll ever get over SLS. As soon as I see a pretty guy that wasn't featured as the main poster guy, I'm like shit. FeelsBadMan
Not sure how I feel about this ending. At least season 2 has the same actors/actress. But this drama was good, the cliffhanger made me mad. And now I'm off to season 2 LOL!
There are so many concubines and everything, you never know when one of them gets lucky with a baby lol. TO BE FAIR, the grandson is the son of the eldest child that the King had, while Tuoba Di's rank among his children is unknown.
Im on episode 48, and I'm confused on how Li Min De is "disabled"? From what I can see, he is able…
There are several dramas that I've seen where a cut to any muscle can mark you as a disabled person (See Gao Zhan in Female Prime Minister). Basically, if you injured yourself once, it's hard for people to trust you to do things that you used to do.
I was literally spamming this past december challenge with posts of her works!!! As soon as I saw Ariel Lin, I clicked and read.
Funny enough, I fell in love with her in her mainland works (Little Fairy), and didn't watch some of her older Taiwanese dramas. However, definitely love In Time With You! I love Ariel Lin and watched it for her but I also eventually came to love Bolin Chen in that one as well!
TOTALLY AGREE THAT SHE HAS GREAT CHEMISTRY WITH ALL HER MAIN CO-ACTORS. Even now, when I saw her working with Joe Cheng on a real-variety show, I can imagine how good they were in It Started With a Kiss.
Thanks for writing this article and exposing her to MDL community ♥
Don't think I've ever seen her in such a role before.
