It is true. Chinese Paladin isn't Chinese Paladin without Hu Ge for me. 仙剑没有胡歌就不是仙剑了。I felt like I was watching just another wuxia drama with supernatural things. I was also looking forward to see how Joe Cheng and Xiao Cai Qi would act out their roles, the ending was kind of weird. After all, in real life, Joe Cheng is twice Xiao Cai Qi's age... But I shipped them more than I shipped the other girl with Long You. Joe Cheng's looks plus Xiao Cai Qi's adorableness really got to me :3 Especially since in the drama, Joe Cheng was kind of mischievous and Xiao Man was too! I spent about 4 hours just speeding through the whole drama... There was happiness and there was sadness, but I felt like the overall plot was a bit lackluster.
The first episode was kind of random. Horrible dubbing, female actress kind of annoying and not like the novel.…
I watched him in The Blind Detective (盲侠金鱼飞天猪) first. Loved him ever since! He was funny in Longmen Express! Dreams Link (又见一帘幽梦) was something I watched after The Blind Detective and it was awesome too!
Ugh, knowing Tong Hua, I know this is going to make me into an emotional wreck. At first I followed it up for Lu Yi, but now I'm turning to Du Chun's scenes in the drama. Looking at what was given from the trailer, Du Chun will be the death of me :(
Can't help but hope for a happy ending even though I already know this a tragedy.
Actually, the book epilogue was a happy ending! Maybe you were talking about the additional chapters, but those are just side stories (番外篇) to the novel, and not part of the ending itself.
Finally done watching the drama. It was not what I expected it to be but it was worth watching. But I couldn't…
Judging from the novel, there are so many ways to interpret why she wanted Bai Zi Hua to kill her. He wanted him to publicly admit loving her but he's too prideful/stubborn so he had no "right" to die with her. He didn't believe her, didn't want to publicly admit his love, what right does he have to die with her? It's her cruel revenge that really makes Bai Zi Hua realize that there is no real distinctive right and wrong. Anyways, I saw it in a different light. In the end, she couldn't just watch him die after doing so much to save him. She gathered all the magical instruments and then had power that she didn't want. Her friends and close ones died because of her, etc. All of this was because she loved him and saved him. If he did die in the end, what would be the point of everyone else dying then? The novel was more descriptive but that's my interpretation.
Not what I expected, too many scenes cut off from the novel so the drama ending seems rushed. Then of course, like Fresh 果果 says, it's a drama adaptation and there are limits to how many things from the novel can be incorporated. Honestly though, I wouldn't mind watching like 100 episodes just to see the whole novel play out. At least they got the important parts and quotes put into the drama.
Happy I didn't give up. Fell in love with the supporting cast and just ignored the main leads (Kevin Cheng and Lin Yuan). Recommend the story with 莺歌 and 大王容垣!
