How much points must I deduct for HIY fan girl inflation to get the real rating for this show?
it's not only HIY, the other dude also has lots of fan girls so the fan girl inflation is doubled lol

Imo the problem is with the writing in general. There are so many plot holes, weird cuts and characters that aren't…
Agree. Kdrama is declining fast. Even good productions have problems with story building.
I think kdrama fans are used to it to be honest...they seem to like any drama with a pretty face on it.

This show has a problem with its female characters.I can't count how many times we've seen the male characters…
Imo the problem is with the writing in general. There are so many plot holes, weird cuts and characters that aren't developed properly.
For example HaeJun has spent the lasts 14 episodes being angry and resentful his mother left him and after the explanation he cries 10 seconds and the next thing they are eating happily. Okay... emotional whiplash there...
Another one is JuWon being resentful her brothers abandoned her (supposedly a big part of the show since is foreshadowed in the synopsis) but she was mad for a day or so and then got over it quickly, there was nothing that catalyzes her feelings.
For me it also doesn't make sense that Sanha is so normal, collected despite being abused by his mother for years. His trauma doesn't seem to affect his social life at all. And they made him love her in this version. O_O

Wth is this drama trying to convey? All children should love their parents regardless if they are abused.

Perhaps because I watched the og and keep comparing but the writing here is all over the place, cliche and lacking.

The writing is mediocre at best, specially compared to the original.
I think most drama viewers watch dramas without knowing who the writer is, so it doesn't matter if it's a rookie or not. In the end it's the final product that speaks, it's either good or it's bad.

I know you like this drama and can't bear to watch it being criticized but you can't expect everybody else to do the same.

In the original C Drama Go Ahead, their is a love triangle between the ML and SML for the FL, even though it’s…
Look man, if you want to take into consideration only that 8min clip. Sure. You just disregard everything that happens next. In that regard Ziqiu molested JianJian, Ziqiu's dad "pushed" Jian Jian, and Jian Jian "pushed" Little Orange.

I think is you the one that haven't seen Go ahead. After that he talked with JianJIan and told her his reason is because the doesn't trust any other man with her. Then they have a good talk and can't fathom the idea of having sex with her. He sees her as a kid still. He just wanted to become legitimate (be int he same household register)

Ziqiu never fell in love with JianJian. Don't mislead in the comments.

I really struggle with his character. I like him but I also feel like his growth was stunted. He’s nearly 30…
I don't know if you've watched Go Ahead but he is my favorite character in the show. Imo the character of Hae Jun isn't developed as deep as the original.
Ziqiu struggles with his mom's parting but is more on the inside. I feel like Hae Jun is more resentful and angry she never came back which in turn makes it so anticlimactic that his anger and resentment goes away from one scene to the next.
Ziqiu on the other hand, felt he was abandoned because he was a burden, he remembers all the fond memories of his mother and tries to find a meaning to her leaving. Also in the drama, he is shown as a mature and wise character, perhaps because of his life experience he is very empathetic.
Don't know if you are interested but you can find out a bit more of his mindset regarding his mother in ep34 timestamp 4:00 til 9:00 : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3fkKlhVWTBI&list=PLiL-CuIBxVwMz9Zk9tUc2Q_lFUL_nBS8y&index=34&ab_channel=HuaceCrotonTVEnglish

Where´s the love triangle? The guy was clearly mislead by his friend. And when he thought about the idea of doing it with her he was disgusted. He just wanted to legally become family with them.

love the drama but is it just me or some scenes are just the writer's laziness

If you had to choose between this Korean version vs the original Chinese version, choose the Chinese version.…
Go ahead is a slice of life drama, FBC is a romantic comedy in a way it feels like FBC is the kid's adapted version of Go ahead. The characters are more one dimensional and simple. The antagonists are more "villain like" and less grey. Just take a look at Haejun's bio dad...he is like the live action version of a cartoon character villain.
The protagonists as well are simpler and show less growth.

The dialogue is well..."cliche-y" compared to the OG. Less natural.

But I guess some people like more unrealistic, simpler stories.

Title Family by Choice Spoiler
I haven't watched Go Ahead yet, so I still have no idea about San-ha's mom or if there will be any changes with…
Sanha's mom in the cdrama version is better. I mean, still unhinged but this version's mom just straight hates her son. The cdrama one barely touches the subject of the sister's death (only once as kids and never again) and when she returns she feels sorry for abandoning his son. After her accident she goes back to her selfish ways and wallows in self-pity becoming sometimes cruel to her son because feels insecure and jealous that her son loves the neighbors more than her. But in the end she still loves her son and redeems herself.

The original drama Go Ahead has a love triangle but this korean version i guess they are trying not to go that…
He just wanted to be part of the family, that why he asked FL to marry. Tell me in what part did he show romantic interest towards the FL??
When the FL said something about "doing it" he was clearly disgusted.

I haven't watched this yet since I want to wait for all episodes to be out. I have watched the cdrama ver a lot…
As someone who watched go ahead I also don't know.

Imo this drama gives more idol drama than Reply drama vibes.
But I've seen a lot of people like it so you don't have to take my opinion so seriously.

I wonder if you watch Go Ahead what'd you think of LingXiao since their relationship dynamics are so different…
Agree. Honestly I hate all the changes they've done to story. Imo they butchered it.
Seems they've turned this into a brainless romance teen drama.

In this version Sanha is way too well adjusted/normal considering his mother is even worse than LingXiao's mom.
In Go ahead LingXiao is a mess he has serious mental problems. He is detached to everyone aside from his family and even his relationship with JianJian is a bit unhealthy imo because I feel he has too much emotional dependence on her.

Here they kinda made Sanha a regular guy with regular relationships, he even communicates well with his dad. The only clue he is somewhat "troubled" is given to us by those flashbacks he has that take him to a "dark place" otherwise he is a regular dude. They also made him a bit of an alpha male, the one that always have to save the day.. I guess to set him apart from the second lead? Idk. But this in turn made HaeJun such a useless character. The guy can't even defend his sister in a school fight.

I've seen people say they like Sanha/Haejun's brotherhood better because they talk and interact more but imo LingXiao/Ziqiu even though they weren't the type to talk much to each other, they showed their love and support in different more subtle ways like with reassurance glances or putting food in each other's plate.

So in conclusion, they are ruining the characters lol

I completely agree. I wish they changed it from the original one because in the cdrama, it was also 10 years.…
In the original they video called and messaged each other, at the beginning with more frequency and then less with time. They never lost contact. It's just the conversations became mundane and repetitive. Also they were supposed to return after finishing uni but they kept postponing their return and JianJian stopped waiting for them. She held a grudge because of it and stopped sharing her life with them in their conversations.

Agree. The original charm is gone.

SanHa's mom is just as unbearable in this version as the chinese ver. I'm on ep5 and truly hope they don't try…
She is worse here imo. In original version she never brought up (blamed) the sister's death after that one time he was a kid. Here it seems she has to bring it up everytime she sees him.

Title Go Ahead
this one is remade in korea but I still think that this original version is much better. script, acting, casts…
Script is waaaaay better. Sorry but the Korean dialogue is just pure cliche lines.
