This drama is a masterpiece. Definitely goes in my top 10. It has a high rewatch value. I love how the character Jia Lan/Lan Xiang was written. Most drama goes for the great love and knight in shining armour. But Jia Lan died in episode 1 together with her hopes and dreams. As she lives as Lan Xiang, she lives holding on to her birth mother's wish for her, her promise to her birth mother to live. Not live for revenge, not live to get back her old life. Just live well. This character was well written, she's educated, smart, calculated, and kind. She never needed rescuing, never cowered. She knew what brought her peace and held on to it.
After ending a drama, I usually rewatch episode 1. It hurts so much to watch episode 1 this time around.
This is my 2026 drama of the year. ❤️

I hope the cast got a huge payday from this because they were totally scammed.

everybody is just hanging out outside the Xie family living room waiting for their time to pop in.

then at a family funeral with no body, suddenly there's a 'who done it' mystery. before the clues to that escape room got solved, another door opens and there's a promotion and multiple executions.

1 minute you're having a family fight in your living room then suddenly a commander waltz in a start calling the shots, before you can even blink in disbelief, a county princess come in to add fuel to fire. you're all there, looking at each other wondering how these people got through the front gates and why there wasn't any announcement.

It's stressful being a Xie family member

Ummm.... did they dig out this script from the 2010 vault or something? what in the makjang universe is this drama?

I stopped watching at ep. 18 to get satisfaction of binging. this is torture....

I bet he held his breath thinking Commander Yuan was going to ask for Lan Xiang's hand. He only breathed when conversation hinted towards his sister.

I'm so mad I started watching this yesterday. now I'm all caught up!!! 😭😭😭 I need to file a formal complaint. no way each episode is 45 minutes! it literally flew by.....

Nah, moved on to watching the other neighbour. Something about Royal Betrothal 😉

Just finished. What I can say about this drama is that, it's like watching your neighbour fight on the front lawn. But you don't know the full story coz 60% of it happened in the house.

Bu Shu Yao.... 😍😍😍😍 This is now the standard of female crossdress as a male....

What a frustrating drama....

Would have preferred her to be in 1st class and him in economy instead.

😭 the lighting of this drama sucks.... in some scenes, the FL look like she only has half her face done up with makeup. The dubbing/audio also is very distracting.

Forgot what this drama was about. Re watched it. Then proceeded to re-traumatise myself with the ending.

Perfect ending at episode 40. 41 was unnecessary......

Am at ep 3 and I have to say. I find this very funny at this stage. The weird sound effects that don't match the scene in hilarious. Like door creaking and gears turning in the morgue. 🤔

The almond eyes and those juicy lips... 😶‍🌫️
