Stand out performances that leave you wanting more
This was such an incredible performance from LYN. His presence that was once lacking as the ML in TSOPG shines brighter than ever here. You can really feel his chemistry with the FL and the plot helped to showcase both their darker and comedic sides. Watching the leads go from enemis to lovers because they were like minded kindered spirits willhave yoi binging the first 15 episodes.
I sort of wish the side plots and chatacter were a bit more fleshed out. If I had one major gripe it would be the final battle. Ep 35 and 36 felt flat to me, the leads werent as actively present and it felt like they werent the ones driving the plot forward. Thought I did find such satisfying poetic justice for the female villain. I was waiting for a final show of how far the couple had come, the trust they’d built and a culmination to ending the hate between the clans. But it all felt rushed and rough.
Still a beautiful drama, good plot and almost perfect chemistry!

Beautiful Leading Actors but Wasted Potential
Because the initial trailer and teaser was so different and creative, I had such high hopes.Unfortunately, although seeing the leads together onscreen motivated me enough to finish the drama, almost everything else fell flat. The show didn’t give the two main characters enough depth and personality for you to care about them.
The character that stands out the most was Wan Peng, his trauma really tugs at your heartstrings and his sly act kept the show interesting and propelled the plot.

Laid the ground work only to let you down
First let me say that I think if this this show had maybe another 10 episodes it wouldve been one of my favorite dramas. The leads were gorgeous, the cinematography was stunning, the overalk mystery/intrigue surrounding what happened in the past was laid out so well… but the ending was so unsatisfying.
The two leads eventually getting together was minimal. After many amazing action scenes with the FL, she wasnt even that big of a part of the final fight, nor did that fight FEEL intense. It felt subpar from the other battles shown in the show.
The resolution of what happened in the past was a really good story, but because it was only shown through flashbacks with no scenes showing the intense struggle of the leads to accept the injustices that happened, it felt emotionally disconnected.
Still a good watch, and all the cast did an amazing job, but I wish the plot had been better condensed in the 40 episodes.

Romantic & Aesthetic but ML lacks depth
I’m sad cause I really wanted to like this. I’m a big of the writer’s previous projects and I loved the casting for main and second couple. But what kept me from loving this show was how little the show let us get to know the ML. The FL dealing with trauma she experienced and breaking societal norms about family ties was beautifully well written. She seemed docile and gentle during a majority of the show but really showed her back bone during scenes that mattered. Highlighting that she was not going be your typical “victim”
However because this was a romance, I found it off putting that we knew next to nothing about the ML. What was his family situation like that made him seem so distant and cold? what was his dynamics with his parents and his sister before and after they went to college? what about the FL healed him enough for him to wait all thos years and become so dedicated to her? what was the internal dialogue of his feeling towards her?
We never really see what type of person the ML is besides being a lover and protector of the FL. Because of that the sweet scenes seemed bland and the heavier scenes left you wanting more of what the ML was thinking.
Still worth the watch if you have the time for 32 episodes but definately a bit dissapointing.
