One of my absolute favorite shows growing up. It will always have a special place in my heart.

I'm currently on episode 26, and I must agree about Liu Ran. I'm new to Song Yi's acting, so I have no comment on that. I think in this case, it has more to do with the writing. The writer refused to give Liu Ran, the character, any development. So as the story progresses, Liu Ran never seem to pick up on the context clues and seem to remain as a lovesick puppy. I find that it's really off putting and clashes with the tone.

* * Side note: I will be starting Shadow Love soon, so I'm excited to see Song Yi portray more interesting characters.

I adore New Life Begins. That drama and this drama share the same writers, so I'm really looking forward to this one. The cast of actors is definitely a big plus. :D So excited!

The greatest sin this show made was to make me fall in love with the characters, then killing them off one by one. If they want to change the world, unfortunately, lives will be lost. I get that! I really do! But... I'm sad...

Finally, a kind of drama that is similar to the ones I grew up with! (I just finished, so I'll just keep the comments brief. Otherwise, I'll go on a whole rant.) It is a serious show with small funny moments, and the more you pay attention, the better the show gets. It is very thematic (especially the characters); it has a lot of foreshadowing, and it delivered on those promises! The amazing acting and cast will really pull you into this immersive world. I highly recommend!

Song Yimeng's father is probably one of my favorite side characters. Despite having a position in the court, have good connections, and is well off... he's so goofy and perpetually confused about the romantic state of his daughters. Such a mood. Lu Xing did a great job at portraying this character!

What an amazing actor. His characters feel so natural and alive on the screen. Cannot wait to see more of his work!

Can't wait to see how well Esther Yu will do in this drama. I'll always root for an actor's growth! Plus, I like this director since she worked on Romance On The Farm. I love that drama. :D

The cast is really funny and charming. Even the bad guys. Also, LYN in that mask and fit is fantastic. Please give me more. This gentleman never stops looking SO GOOD in dark clothing. Li Yi Tong is a fun actress to watch. (Also Riley/Shangguan... Who allowed this man to be so charming? I'm in love.) This show is not perfect by any means, there were some things I wish was better, BUT I still had a damn good time!

I've been wondering... Does Liu Yu Ning seek out roles where there's a lot of male characters who are close like brothers? Like A Journey To Love, Prisoner of Beauty, A Dream Within A Dream, and so on. If that's his thing, then I totally love it. (Even though I know some of them will break my heart.)

Also, this man looks so classy in dark clothing, especially in period time dramas. It never ceases to amaze me how good he looks.

I personally like the slow build up. It seems to give the identity reveals some weight. Currently, we are seeing the two leads understand each other without prejudice. I don't know how the story will go, but I predict that in the later part, their bond will be tested because they're meant to be enemies. In my opinion, a true enemies-to-lovers type of story should progress slowly, giving weight to the meaning of "enemies" and "lovers".

Yes! I 100% agree. I love this show a lot! The mystery is wonderful, the hints the ML gets that will eventually build up to a big reveal. The buildup for the relationship is also steady; the cast is wonderfully bright. I cannot get over how the demonic world is portrayed: it's dark but vibrant, so much different than the more naturally colored human world. There are demons shaped like literal fishes, tiny demons, masked demons that walk awkwardly.. And tilting buildings! I love it! This show is beautifully crafted.

Seeing a knew side of TXW's acting and I'm enjoying it a lot. Also, I'm loving the show itself. The set for the human world and the Demon Underworld is so different, but both are just as beautiful. I just want to drop a quick comment 'cause I'm so excited about this show. Will drop another comment when the series is done. :)

Lately, I've been wanting to watch a C-drama that's mostly optimistic and lighthearted. Does this drama retain that sort of vibe throughout most of the show?

You made it far into the show, so it's clear that you tried. But if it didn't work for you, then it doesn't. Your taste matters. Shows and movies are entertainment. It should be something you should enjoy! There's only so many hours in a day, so I will say to move onto something else. Who knows? Maybe the next one will be your favorite.
