*plants herself in this comment section* aaaah wonderful, here is to another 6 months of family drama. Welcome…
A few weeks ago, I swore I would never watch another family drama but. . . .a few days ago, someone pointed out (on a different forum) that Ha Joon was not just one of the Male Leads but the Romance male lead.
So, I watched the trailers and the 1st script reading and I'm in. Unlike TRHC, I think I will like the OTP.
And a very long list of characters/support roles (wikipedia) so hopefully more than one main story that does nothing more than a carousel going round and round.
I put this one on hold several weeks ago and I will do a 2X speed watch at some point, but I have a question.…
So, it's possible that she committed suicide but someone (likely suspect would be Mom in this instance) tried to hide the body so that the suicide would not be blamed on DoHa.
Honestly, I felt this would somehow be the end game because of the bloody shoes left on the beach. What murderer would do that? But as I said - I've skimmed the comments and read recaps so I probably missed something.
Ratings had a big drop yesterday (Saturday). They actually went up last weekend (2nd highest for both Saturday and Sunday) but my guess is viewers (Korea) simply grew tired of the Baby Battle (14 episodes and counting from Ep. 34)
They should have resolved the Baby Battle a couple of weeks earlier and put more effort into resolving all the other loose ends. I still don't know if my one-time favorite couple (Ji Myeong and Hyun Woo) found their way to a loving relationship or are still stuck in a loveless. sterile marriage of convenience.
Used a heavy finger on the FF button today but stopped to briefly watch the photo scene at the wedding - and What The F**k is with that god-awful Fish Kiss. I know all the filming was rushed within the last few days but it was like a "we don't even give a s**t anymore" to the viewers.
I wrote here something similar as a reason why it went off the cliff down into a flaming pile of trash almost…
I didn't see this when you originally posted. but you continue to blame the writer. I think the writers/producer/director had a clear plan for a 50 episode family drama with plenty of twists and turns and a couple of makjang moments at the end.
But for some reason, the execs demanded a wholesale redirection end game and once you have completed 50% of filming and 2/3 of the scripts, that became an impossible task to keep the same momentum and charm.
I avoid reincarnation/same soul dramas and i have a hunch that once the past history story of this drama becomes front and center, I'll put it on hold and never return.
So, a question. when the viewer (and/or a character) sees golden streakss or rain drops or whatever, is it meant to represent something specific? or is it simply kdrama code for "past life flashback" or "window on history"? Sands of time and/or time travel?
The same CGI was used in "19th Life" (something I dropped very early).
When Shin-yu's hands were sifting through the sand on the beach, it reminded me of the golden streaks. That's also the location where he decoded the Shaman's prophecy. I guess that beach means something from the past as well.
I will go to my grave knowing they changed writers at Ep 30-33 ish. Too many fingerprints on the evidence, it…
Haha, I will go to my grave knowing they changed TK and Joon-ha's fraternal twin story. TK and JH were the ONLY two characters where their birthdates were obviously and clearly shown - and less than 30 days apart. There was nothing in those two scenes that "required" a birthdate to be shown. And they were the ONLY two - we don't know the birthdates of any other character.
I read somewhere that 50% of the scripts were finished before they began filming. I'm not sure that the suits are happy with the ratings - during the big press conference, they were promoting that THIS drama was going to help return family dramas back to the glory days of 30% viewership. "Three Bold Siblings" almost made it - TRHC didn't come close.
I am starting to think that maybe the one who killed the ex-gf is the president of the entertainment company.…
I put this one on hold several weeks ago and I will do a 2X speed watch at some point, but I have a question. Is it definite that the ex-gf was murdered?
A commenter on a different forum - who has been watching weekender dramas for 10+ years - is convinced that the KBS executive suite interfered at a certain point to produce the alternate universe/time warp change at episodes 32/33. (or whenever). Prior to that, although we had one Main Couple, there were a variety of other couples and families that intermixed at various times in various episodes - different events, different accidental meet-ups - the hallmark of a true family drama.
All of that mixing-up was eliminated (like I said - an alternate universe) . I believe the writer had a plan from start to finish because it was so apparent and obvious up until that 2/3 (66%) mark when everything was essentially placed on-hold for another 8-10 episodes while they frantically re-wrote the last 10 episodes.
Who ever gave the order should be fired - the ratings have stayed the same lackluster stage as before, whereas even the unremarkable "Three Bold Siblings" significantly improved over the final 1/3 of the episodes. TRHC may have a large netizen following but internet forums mean nothing to the average Korean that sits down with family to watch their weekend dramas. This may have been the final blow in the disappearing weekender genre - the other broadcasters have moved to reality shows and 12-16 episode dramas.
I also regret that the red hand and the other hand and the disease regarding his blood vessels have completely…
What is the "other hand"??
Shin-yu talked about "Red Hand". Shaman Eun Wol referred to the "owner of the bloody hand". Sometimes the hand is shiny red/bloody. Other times it is greyish red (not bloody) and seems to be icy cold. Each time the "icy" hand appears, the shiny/bloody one shows up right after so implication is that it is the same supernatural entity.
It may be that the disease (vascular disease) is cured but that doesn't mean that the "genetic mutation" is fixed - it may continue? Pretty sure it's' not the end of the curse. Thankfully - there are more spells in the book. Anyway, that's what I am hoping for - more spells, hopefully with some comedy mixed in.

Shin-yu killed Bloody Hand Lady - who was she? Why did he kill her?
if you like KH, then you are here for heart break.
I have been told that perhaps it is not total heartbreak for the Kang Hoon character, but rest assured - I will probably only watch a handful of his "highschool" scenes and perhaps the last few minutes of the last episode.
As I said - definitely not my genre and I am definitely not the type of viewer who enjoys "crying buckets of tears". I acknowledge that many kdrama viewers enjoy crying "buckets of tears", but I'm not one of them. Thankfully I know how to manage my limited kdrama viewing time. Perhaps I will wait until release and look at comments before taking the leap.
It was Shin yu's "imagination" - wondering if that is what happened the prior night (it was incorrect)But it was…
Yes, reality (she was ready) was momentous to the overall story arc. But this is kdrama world - and if "past is prologue" (Shakespear) the first "real" kiss happens at the end of Episode 8. πππ
When Netflix drops all at once, what "time" is the release???
Midnight KST? Uh no - it would have already dropped. Midnight USA time (whichever time zone)
Noon KST?
I admit, this definitely not my genre, but I really like Kang Hoon, so I will be selective and use FF button. Just wondering when it might be available.
Jung Eui Jae (the actor) is doing great in his first main role - I'm glad the writer/director finally gave him…
Bloomingtide, I said ZERO about the character, so I'm not sure why you felt it necessary to make the distinction.
Yes, yesI know you hate the writers. I'm not happy with how they handled Joon-ha's story because I'm convinced (as are others who are long-term fans of family dramas) that Joon-ha's end story was revised from original plan (for whatever reasons) as were other story arcs during that awful, dreadful Episode 31/32 time warp..
Nevertheless, this was a break-through role for Jung Eui Jae, very different from his past roles, he is new to acting (<5 years) and I look forward to his next projects. "New" actors cannot pick and choose easily and in kdrama land, this role will not hurt him. He had the opportunity to show a different "face/personality" and that is a good thing.
From what I understand, two things are happening to Shin Yul:(1) the family illness/curse; and(2) the red hand.I…
He might be the reincarnation of the man who killed Lady Bloody Hand (that's what Shaman Eun Wol said) , but she is definitely not the person that "chose" Hong-jo to inherit the box/book of spells and reverse the curse. Lady Bloody Hand wants to stop destiny.
What's the creepy red hand! I am almost not gonna watch the drama bcuz of that! Somebody tell me what is that…
300+ years ago, one of ML's ancestors killed the owner of the bloody hand. Apparently (?), the owner cursed the Jang family to "struggle with horrible pain".
So, I watched the trailers and the 1st script reading and I'm in. Unlike TRHC, I think I will like the OTP.

As for the writer(s) - F**k 'em.
But it was a great kiss, even if not real. π€£π€£
