Well, Dang it all - I just read that Episode 4 (Sunday) has been pre-empted by a soccer game. Which means that now the episode "cliffhangers" (mild on Saturday, hot on Sunday) will be off. Maybe there will be another soccer pre-emption on future weekend.

Primrose = Aeng-cho.
However "parrot" apparently is a real person (shaman) described in the Joseon Annals - but it was for the prior King Injo (?). Now I'm getting mixed up on what is fictional (detailed translations from the drama) and what is true history (from the Joseon Annals). 😊😊

I no longer find the main couple to be charming - probably because the drama is definitely devolving into the realm of star-crossed lovers therefor it's okay to treat our current friends/loves/partners badly because. . . . destiny or somethin'.
But I've still been interested in knowing how the spells and the curses really work (or fail). Unfortunately, after reading the JTBC website and various internet sites that translated some of the Joseon annals, it looks like the writers are indeed playing us for chumps. Some of it is magic, some of it is destiny and who gives a s**t if any of it makes sense if in the end they end up happy.
Meanwhile, I'm still interested in Kwon Jae Kyung. His story from JTBC site (I think I got the correct pronouns):
"[He's] not interested in love, romance, or marriage at all. There was a woman [he] once loved, and [he] dreamed of getting married for a while. When [he] found out that [his] father had been constantly borrowing money from her, [he] closed [his] heart. [He] didn't want to have the woman [he] loved involved with [his] family again."
This is pure guessing, but from the beginning I felt that KJK had feelings for Na-yeon - he works for her father (who treats him badly); although he never met YS before, he believed that he would be willing to work for less money at City Hall fighting corruption (because NY told him?); and he was very upset that YS might be two-timing Na-yeon. If Mr. Bad Guy Gardner is KJK's father (more wild speculation), then a past connection with Na-yeon would also explain how she knows Mr. Bad Guy.

If MDL would fix the problem with the "Discussion Topic" box, I would post all sorts of stuff from the internet about the story (fictional) of Aeng-cho. I'm thinking that Red Hand was Joseon Hong-jo, but not Aeng-cho. Joseon Jang killed Red Hand - but it's not clear that Red Hand is Aeng-cho.
What if he misunderstood like the FL in "See you again in my 19th life". what if He didn't see the full picture…
It tried 19th Life but dropped by Episode 4 or 5 - didn't like the characters (and, unfortunately, some of my least favorite actors) and the reincarnation theme was the foundation from the 1st episode. The entire story/mystery was based on what happened in the past.
I'm sticking with this one to the end because the primary mystery now is in current times - the family curse, finding the box/spell book, trying out the spells (love those scenes), do they work or not, many of the side characters (ML mom, bosses), Jae Kyung's back-story. I know that some of the answers (destiny) will be based on the past but the current journey has been fun and there is more to the show than whatever happened between Aeng-cho and Joseon Jang.
It took me awhile to figure it out, but Shin-yu is the person who says "By any chance, if I was your mortal enemy in our past lives, what would you think?" (I had to switch to Korean (cc) subs to identify the speaker)
It's not clear who he is talking to and viewer assumes it is Hong-jo, but for crying out loud, if they were truly enemies, the whole story arc/star-crossed lovers (a genre I HATE, but will hold my nose) simply doesn't make sense.
How manhy others are holding off doing their rating for this drama until the end? If all the puzzle pieces fit in the last episode, this will come close to a 9 or 9.5⭐ for me. If not - prepare for the wrath of Kathryn51.

When Kim Kwon shows up on my screen, I always enjoy his portrayal, even if the character is the worst of the worst. Great actor. They've actually shown that he (Hyeon su) appears to care a bit about Na Yeon. They deserve each other.
The chemistry between the leads is so good. If it wasn't I swear I would have dropped this because NY is pissing…
In the end, we will likely discover that many of them were involved in the original Joseon events that led to Aeng-cho's death and the curse and therefor DESTINY is bringing them all together again. Will history repeat itself or will the curse be lifted. Like it or not, that is the over arching story.

Patience is a virtue when watching a 16 episode drama. They've been sprinkling clues throughout the episodes as well as small hints. In the end, the important thing (to a viewer like me) is will it all make sense in the end? Will they show flashbacks to certain conversations that are consistent? Or, will it be a hot mess. So far - I think things are beginning to fall in place.
Absolute pure theory/speculation but after re-watching (a couple of days ago) some old scenes with Jae Kyung and today's episode, I think that Greenway Gardner guy is KJK's father. I already believe the Jae Kyung has a connection to the past and also guess that Shaman Eun Wol referred to him when she said: "He's honest and strong. He's beside you".
I hate the idea - but it's going to be stuck in my head until proven otherwise.

Actually, in the preview, Shaman Eun Wol said there was "one" more person who remembers the past life. I don't believe that Hong-jo has ever had a memory flash or dream of "her" past life. - it's all Shin-yu. Correct? Regardless, I'm convinced the other person is Jae Kyung and I think he is trying to prevent history from repeating itself.
I re-watched some scenes from Episodes 6-7. He was reserved with Jong-ho until Episode 6 when he realized that Shin-yu and Hong-jo had a "relationship" that was more than co-workers. At that point, he became very watchful of Hong Jo and eve friendly (asking her to go to the dog pound that weekend). She was still crushing on him through most of Episode 7.
HE was the one she was thinking of when she said "please, can you come" and the box opened. He's trying to protect her - trying to prevent history (some princess/noble woman/SFL fell in love with Jang???) from repeating itself.
Well, that's my theory and I'm sticking to it at least through Episode 10. 😂😂

A couple of days ago, I posted a 'new discussion topic" under the "Recent Discussions" section, but it doesn't appear in my view of the front page. (It's there if I click on the "be the first to create a discussion" link. I checked other drama pages - on some, the topics appear on the front page and others do not.
I emailed MDL and asked for an explanation but noone has responded.
Just wondering if there is a protocol or "rule" that determines when discussion topics appear and when they do not.
Is there a better way to make an inquiry than email???

I think SML (Jae Kyung) is trying to stop history from repeating itself. But then, I'm a fan of Ha Joon (he is the reason I put this drama on my watchlist long ago), so I'm biased. 😊😊
