Anyway, I decided to start “My Lovely Liar” & “Live Your Own Life” to keep myself occupied with dramas…
Warning: You might get SLS with "My Lovely Liar". i began to watch because of Seo Ji Hoon (2ML) and eventually threw in the towel. His acting was so far above the ML that it was painful to watch.
But if you like cute couples and mystery/thriller combination, you will probably enjoy it.
From the very beginning (episodes 1 and 2) of this drama these are facts that all viewers know (and we will see if the writer changes the facts or stands true):
1. Jang Mu jin killed the owner of Red Hand and we have known for a couple of weeks that this is Aeng-cho.
2. She wrote the book of spells at the end of her life. She knew she was dying or would soon die (maybe poisoned, maybe a curse?).
3. "All the pain and curses will end [because] finally the owner of the wooden box showed up." and "What took you so long to come."
It was part of a plan - it just took three centuries to finally happen. And a whole lot of dead Jang males.
Still unknown: how (and why) the Jang family was cursed.
PS: Remember the red berries that Joseon HJ was trying to pick? They look an awful like the berries of the Sacred Bamboo shrub. They are poisonous. And Creepy Gardener gave HJ "free" Sacred Bamboo shrubs for the garden. Coincidence? Maybe. 🤣
Just started episode 1 and I’m already in love with Ha Joon’s character. And has anyone talked about his English…
Welcome EK 😄😄I'm here for one reason and one reason only (and as if you couldn't guess, it's the same reason I am paying 25% attention to that other messy drama which will remain nameless).
Ha Joon in "Crazy Love" - he broke my heart in that one but in this drama, he's here to slay all before him.
If you haven't watched, there's a bts or interview out there where Uee says something like "Ha Joon is nothing like his character in real life. he always smiling (or cheerful?) but the moment the cameras roll, he transforms instantly" - or something like that, haha.
PS; Did you get any sleep last night (your time - it's almost bedtime here).
She said she wanted to give him a goodbye gift. Personally, I understand she going to take revenge in some way.
I've always had a different take on Father Jang. He truly cares about his son and fears the curse.
His construction company won the contract fairly (according to Jae Kyung - which are about the only scenes I'm watching so it was a quick view today😊😊). That is, he didn't win the contract because his son was dating the mayor's daughter. But, as we see, he had good reason to not offend the mayor - once the engagement was announced, his sons became a pawn.
But then, I'm fed up with SY for many reasons but add this to the list: He knew TWO months ago that she was cheating but by continuing to go along with NY's request, he only delayed the inevitable punishment against his father. I will forgive the character (lol, the "writer") only if SY has spent those two months developing a solid plan to protect his dad, the company and all of its employees.
How did the police release gardener guy? Did SFL give him an alibi or something?I wanted SFL's Schadenfreude to…
Father Jang heads up a construction company - a competitor of Haum construction. He won the bid for the something-something project. But now SFL wants to destroy the Jang family so she's asked her father, the mayor, to cancel the contract with the Jang family construction company and choose Haum. And if he does that, Haum will give ₩30 billion as a bribe to the mayor who is promising to give a cut of that to Jae-kyung.
So are we able to create a discussion that can be visible on this page yet??Because I need to share these with…
Rushed through most of it, but just a reminder (from Episode 2) for everyone: Aeng-cho wrote the books of spells "toward the end of [her] life." She knew she was going to die.
I just finished episode 11 and what can I say!!!It’s FRUSTRATING!It’s frustrating that I love this drama even…
Haha, reading your comments - as a newcomer (you) to this drama - and a fellow fan of "Crazy Love" - I'm glad you are enjoying this. Wish I could share your joy.
I put it on "hold" today. Will FF future episodes but probably won't return to re-watch every scene. I knew it would eventually bring the "past lives" into the mix, but they waited too long for me - which means last episodes will be heavy on reincarnation/star-crossed lovers (which I really, really hate) and not enough on the current era. They are continuing to withhold important information regarding CURRENT events/actions (for instance - what the hell happened to SY when Creepy Gardner showed up at the end of Ep. 8 - we are now almost at Ep. twelve for gosh sakes), so . . . . the intrigue is gone for me.
I am beginning to realize why so many kdrama fans wait until a drama is complete so they can watch all at once w/no 6-day break. The momentum, tension, intrigue - nothing can compare when one can watch at one own's speed as schedule permits.
EK - I really enjoy your comments , together with other fellow kdrama travelers who appreciate story more than swoon-worthy faces, so will continue to visit MDL.
should rather say, "HJ's crazy co-workers imitate a tortured cat during karaoke with Rowoon saving everyone from…
Re: FNOS - No, I never watched the last two episodes. Read the recaps and knew that watching it wouldn't be enjoyable.
Just finished skimming through Episode 11 and I still don't feel anything for the main couple. Plus, too many non-linear scenes. A few episodes ago, Shin-yu was with Creepy Gardener, later was found in a parking lot somewhere by Na-Yeon and he doesn't remember how he got there. But today, he meets with him as if nothing happened previously??
I would continue to be interested if this was a well-written mystery, but it looks like many of the puzzle pieces (including some of the things that Shaman Eun Wol has said) are going to be left scattered on the table in the end. I'll keep skimming to the end to find out if KJK is a force for good or evil but the past lives is a drag.
The production team said, "In episodes 11 and 12 this week, the sweet transformation of Lee Hong-jo and Jang Shin-yu, who have entered into a two-way romance, brings excitement," adding, "As their feelings for each other deepen, Lee Hong-jo also begins to recall memories of their past lives. The sad secrets of his past life will also be interestingly portrayed."
Is Jae Kyung a force for "good" or "evil". Ha Joon is my favorite actor in this drama and he is good, VERY good at playing revolving door charming good guy/cold obsessed guy. I really don't connect with the main couple. Good actors, pretty faces, lots of slow motion. . . . .slow. . . . motion. . . with OST in the background. The comedy has disappeared, the thriller has arrived, End Game is pre-determined and at this point, I'm watching to find out - is Kwon Jae Kyung a force for good or evil?
1. My speculation: Na-yeon and KJK once dated. She was the girlfriend that he broke off with because his father (so far unseen) was borrowing money from her. They broke up 2 years ago - around the time that, coincidentally, (i) Shaman Eun Wol went into the nursing home and (ii) Na-yeon began to date Shin-yu. It may explain why KJK is jealous of SY and knows certain non-public info (e.g. NY is SY girlfriend) (OTOH, it could explain why he dislikes SY which makes zero sense that he brought him to City Hall, but whatever - writers are never logical).
And who really found Shin-yu in a parking lot? Na-yeon? Pfffttt.
2. The box opened when HJ was thinking of Jae Kyung and she said: "Please, can you come". Why in the world would the person chosen to receive the box - in order to lift the curse - be thinking of a BAD person when it opened? If KJK is truly evil, this will be the worst plot twist ever. Whatever - within a few days, he came (probably the guy in the black hoodie) and moved into her building. [Speculation}: KJK is there to protect Hong Jo. Stopping a repeat of history? Or, helping lift the curse?
3. Shaman Eun Wol implied that there is "another" person that remembers their past life. It it's a 3rd person (and not herself), then good probability that it's KJK. Watching Kwon Jae Kyung - standing alone - during the fireworks scene the viewer doesn't know what he saw or witnessed. Was it simply their hug on the bridge - or a peek into the past.
Hope we get some answers in the next couple of days.
God… the slight shift in the genre/moods, all these theories filling the space in my head… they remind me…
Hello EK - because of Ha Joon in "Crazy Love", I put this (and "Live Your Own Life") on my watchlist. He was really good at playing a revolving Mr. Nice Guy/Mr. Bad Guy and the VIEWER knew that he wasn't a sweet guy, but the characters in the drama did not. And I think, unfortunately (because I really was hoping Jae Kyung would turn out to be a force for good), he was chosen for this role again because that talent.
Back then, we could post our theories in the discussion topic section and bounce ideas around. But for some reason (which MDL refuses to even respond), the topic forum for this drama is "invisible".
Insoo isn't official (yet??) but if he is one of the 12 (13?), lives I will watch that particular episode!
Yes, I saw the mention on twitter, but unlike much of the cast, insoo has not been officially identified. However, insoo recently posted on his IG that he had recently wrapped filming something w/photo of flowers - but nothing more to indicate which drama. So, sounds like they are trying to keep it as a surprise. Someone goofed w/the ig post.
According to synopsis, the lead character (actor Seo In Guk) must "experience death over and over again through 13 other lives. But if he can find a way to survive the imminent death coming for these lives, he gets to live out their lifetime. " The cast members for 8 or 9 of those lives have been confirmed - so there are a few still unknowns/surprises for the viewer. The drama on its own doesn't interest me, but I'll watch whatever episode Insoo appears in.
The SML acting cutely at random times is so funny. It maybe unpopular opinion, but am sure a guy can still charm…
Many of us (viewers) believe that Kwon Jae Kyung is meant to be more than simply Second Male Lead who Doesn't Get The Girl. Too many hints - but most inconclusive and ambiguous - that he has a greater role to play into how the curse is eventually lifted.
Has he been stalking Hong Jo (black hoodie character)? insisting on setting up CCTV on his own? those stairs from his apartment - are they truly blocked off or. . . ? Standing mysteriously off to the side and alone at the fireworks scene? How did he know that she was in charge of the shrine demolition? And why is he so interested in "plants?" Innocent or guilty?
He is clearly protective of Hong-jo - and has been from the very first episodes. He clearly cares about her - innocently or obsessively?
I've no doubt they are building up the tension to imply that he is the one they should be afraid of. I'm hoping the answer is - but this would require a remarkable twist on behalf of the writers - that he's trying to protect Hong-jo from repeating her past history with the Jang ancestor. But that would require outside-the-box thinking instead of good v evil simplicity. Not holding my breath.
Ha Joon is a favorite as well - glad he's the good guy in "Live Your Own Life".
I wonder if they'll play the amnesia card for the Grandmother after being hit by the brothers car and she'll stay…
I hope so. I am hoping there is lots of mixing relationships between the two families throughout the drama. A bigt weakness of TRHC is that there were two main families - and they rarely intermingled because ethere was only one relationship (the main couple) that connected the two families from time-to-time.
Yes, but Hyo Shim isn't allowed to be in a relationship with any client of the gym. This will be fun. Also, just…
Maybe it's a coincidence, but the letters ("T" and "S") might hint at a possible connection to Tae Sun. I'm here primarily because of Ha Joon, but I have a feeling I'm going to enjoy the 2nd couple (Taemin and scheming broadcast lady) just as much.
A few weeks ago, this was recommended strongly by several people over on Dramabeans so I gave it a shot. There were a lot of fun moments and the overarching story about small town politics, big city/political party corruption kept me interested. The romance? Not so much because the two leads kept hurting each other and gallons of tears shed (which is not romantic in my book).
Would love to see a remake but limited to 14-16 episodes. With the same fun antics but a lot less crying. Giving it 8⭐because for its era, it was a great drama.

Also, just why is Tae-ho a VIP? I'm thinking that TaeSan Group owns TS Fitness.
Great actress.
