My weekend consolation is knowing that on Saturday July 29, my favoritist kdrama actor Yoo In Soo will be back…
Since last OCTOBER (when my baby In Soo was announced as a cast member - and it wasn't clear if he would be a good guy or evil like Gwinam) this has been on my watchlist.
In all, I have come too far. They better bring this one to a close with an effn cherry on top with whip cream…
My weekend consolation is knowing that on Saturday July 29, my favoritist kdrama actor Yoo In Soo will be back on the screen (after only a two month absence) on Uncannyy Counter 2.
Just to throw this out there: I hope that Tk is the one who finds out about JH/SJ and use that to blackmail JH…
JH already told TK that he and SJ pretended to date and were behind the internet notice. Do you think JH would care if people found out SJ is the one he cheated with over a year ago??
On the other hand JANG SE JIN might not be happy about that revelation.
Normally they are more miss than hit, but this time i love how salty the viki timed comments are on eps 34 (just…
When I finally watched Ep. 34 last night, I turned off comments - but wondered what kind of firestorm (including whatever you might post) might appear. 😁😁😁
i feel the most unrealistic part is how the writer is still continuing this shit with these two pathetic clowns…
In another flashback, we learned that Granny Evil forced SJ to dump TK and SJ took the noble idiot route - ridiculing TK so that he would hate her. I'll have to go re-watch that one.
I'm not saying she has a "right" to go after YD - I'm saying I understand WHY she is doing it. SJ had a dream (wealth/status), YD lied and destroyed her wedding and SJ wanted to expose that lie - with the added benefit of destroying YD.
I'm beginning to believe the following:From the start, the writers had a 50 episode drama outlined - they knew…
Hmmmmm, my point was different. I believe a "5-month break" was always planned and it's really not possible to film all of the beach scenes (just 2 weeks ago, I believe) and then completely change the script w/in that time frame. I think knetz were overpromising/speculating/wishful thinking on that one.
So, I can believe that a "break" at the 2/3 mark was planned all along and meanwhile (as they were polishing off the scripts leading up to it) they were following the military mantra: assess, re-group, adapt and execute.
Perhaps the Ep 34 scenes with the two "grandmothers" (which did provide some new/different viewpoints) are part of adapting - in which case, they will make sense later on, especially Bong Nim's negativity. I also believe that the pharmacist, co-worker and Hee were only intended as fillers and never intended long term. The sudden redemption of Hee (needing money for sick son that was never mentioned as ill before? Uh-uh big no) is more filler added into the last 1/3 of the show. She is simply unnecessary at this point (anyone could have taken YD to the hospital). Not sure why she is part of YD's orbit except maybe fall into SJ's schemes. Whatever reason she is still on the show, I don't think it was originally planned.
I don't mind adapting - I do hate re-written history. As I said the other day. . .Hell hath no fury and I will haunt this writer on social media if he (she?) pulls too many whoppers.
Excuse me to spill more salt onto the floor buuuuut honestly, I don't blame YD for leaving as much as I blame…
I'm beginning to believe the following:
From the start, the writers had a 50 episode drama outlined - they knew what the end game would be, they know who is related to whom, they know the back-stories of non-family characters (such as InOk and JH) with the plan to reveal near the end of the drama.
Second, they had detailed episode outlines through Episode 33 - PRECISELY 2/3 of the way through the drama. But they held back on the details for the last 1/3 until they saw how the story was playing out and perhaps what viewers and/.or the ratings were telling them. Sometimes, because of the actor, a character might take a life of it's own and the writers will rewrite/revamp for that dynamic. It doesn't affect the end game, but it might affect the journey.
I was shocked at the last 1/2 of Ep. 34 that NOTHING changed in a year. I had been looking forward to watching how JM/HW's relationship changed during her pregnancy and childbirth. But other than dumping the plot-device "fake dates", nothing changed. Soo Yooung and hubby - no change. except perhaps finally giving up on having a child (I believe she will get pregnant on her own now - they deserve that happy ending). InOk? No regrets, no self-reflection, No change. What happened to the acquisition that JH was working on? Is he still working at Nx or not? The young couple - maybe still dating but still don't know their family relationships? AFTER A YEAR??
The only character that changed is TK - keeping the faith that Yeon Do would keep her promise to him.
And at this point, it doesn't matter what the writers do w/r/t Yeon Do - they may have needed a dramatic way of ending the original story (unwed mom/contract marriage/lies/deceit/etc) but the route they chose ruined Yeon Do's character for me. And the nastiest trick of all - that teaser for Ep. 34 that implied that it was TK greeting her at the hospital.
Various clues, hints, casual comments, etc - they were sprinkled throughout the drama up to this point because they presumably would mean something later on. If they re-write history (for instance, Bong Nim adopted even though Uncle mentioned twice that she inherited her good eyesight from their father) than that's lazy/incompetent writing.
i feel the most unrealistic part is how the writer is still continuing this shit with these two pathetic clowns…
Re: Father Jang and Father Gong According to tvN character description, Father Jang was once “the only son of a private school tycoon, but he has no interest in making money.” At one point, he apparently loaned money to Father Gong (?) and it saved the company. Eventually, Father Jang lost his money at which point Granny Evil (I will always hate her) tossed the Jang family away like trash.
I disagree that mistreating anyone – even the obnoxious Mother Jang – makes Granny “smart”.
Granny has been a nasty, bitter bitch who has terrorized her family for the last 60+ years and there is no redemption arc for her, even if she has a soft spot for Yeon Do.
I don’t recall anything indicating that Se Jin wanted revenge against the Gong family for how she was mistreated. It wasn’t just money – she had the opportunity to hook up with Joon Ha who is probably richer than the Gong family. But he doesn’t have any high society family “blood” [yet!] and the status that comes with it. She wanted the money (security) and the status.
SJ wanted revenge against Yeon Do because YD lied and deceived everyone, destroyed her wedding and humiliated her in front of society. I cheered YD at that point, but it had consequences and I don’t blame SJ for wanting to expose the lies and deceit. What – she’s just supposed to shrug her shoulders and forgive YD??? F**k no – otherwise, we wouldn’t have a 50 episode family drama.
For fans of Alchemy of Souls, here's a link to still cuts and brief article of the first scene in UC2 between Na Jeok Bong (Park Dang Gu) and Go Mo Tak (Uncle Park Jin), Apparently Mo Tak is excited because NJB is sprouting the trademark curly hair. Can't wait to see these actors reunite.
When SJ's father meets with him. Since he is the only one who can link the two. And if YD recovered some neurons,…
I didn't mean to question what you said about Father Jang and realized I had a typo which I have now corrected. Yes, Father Jang can identify JH as "ex-boyfriend" of SJ.
JM/HW were not at the dinner.
However, in one brief scene, Joon Ha and Se Jin were walking through the lobby of Nx and they introduced themselves to JM. Afterwards, she said "I've seen him somewhere" (or something similar). That's what I meant by a contrived "set-up". That scene was brief and meaningless in the overall story arc at the time and therefor will mean something in the future. JMHO
What would be their marital status now? Legally separated?
The marriage registration must be signed/sealed by both parties, although I believe that only one party needs to submit the form - I don't believe Korea requires a trip to the registration office. A birth registration can only be filed by the mother and doesn't require another signature/seal. Since she is using her surname (Oh) for the baby, she must have left the father's name blank.
When SJ's father meets with him. Since he is the only one who can link the two. And if YD recovered some neurons,…
"SJ" is also the initials of TK's former celebrity girlfriend.
Father Jang knows that JH is an "ex-boyfriend", but doesn't know his name.
ji Myeong saw JH in the lobby of NX and knew he was looking for Se Jin, but iirc, didn't hear his name. However, she remembered him in one obviously set-up scene, , so it's going to come up again.
The comic explains it better, although Cho-won it really was just love at first sight. Do-yun doesn't start really…
Thanks for the explanation. When the drama began, someone on Dramabeans said 2 Couple was their favorite from the webtoon and they feared that the drama would focus too much on the main couple and diminish the 2nd couple. I guess that's what happened. 😢
Many think Strawberry could be BN or JH's mother.I sincerely hope it's neither one nor the other. If Strawberry…
Regarding the drunken/.mistaken night, I would feel cheated by the writers simply because the entire premise of the show is that a single woman became pregnant, her boyfriend cheated on her and didn't want her to keep the baby and that propels all of the story/family dynamics forward. [the other catalyst, of course, is the forced marriage]. It would be far more meaningful if the end story is that families can be many things and "blood" doesn't need to be the #1 element. In fact, if this is the end result, then automatic 1 Star rating.
Of course, perhaps she banged BOTH men w/in a 24 hour period and that's why she had twins originally. I would still hate that story because i prefer a story where family is based on love, not blood.
Were there two comments about YD's father/BN's husband? This is from my notes (Ep 8,M ark 15)BN to her brother:…
In one of the promo videos, the four main cast members were asked a variety of questions regarding the characters they play - one of the questions was about the character's family. AJH was really funny as he began to reel of various sisters, in-laws, grandmother, etc, etc. etc. Anyway, when asked, Jung Eui Jae said: "It's not known yet. I mean, it's a secret. If you watch to the end, you will know." At this point, this is the only reason I will continue to watch because Joon-ha is my favorite character (primarily because, unlike other characters, we don't know his back-story or what motivates him).

Yes, I thought there was a 2nd comment along those lines but I haven't located it yet and don't have time to rewatch every minute. Thanks for confirmation.

I thought he was age 9 or 10, but in Episoide 10, InOk says that TK was in the 11th grade when they married.

While suffering from broken foot bone, I've been spending too much time on the computer, but a couple of weeks ago, I did a deep dive on the Joon-ha character and posted this in the discussion section. It provides a bit more info on the character, but really - there isn't much available: https://kisskh.at/discussions/the-real-thing-appears/109129-who-is-kim-joon-ha-the-only-main-character-unrelated-to-the-3-major-families
