Wow, I thought I was keeping track of drama even if I didn’t watch immediately upon release (late at night on Viki) but then I checked the dates and I was heavily invested in Secret Romantic Guesthouse and Bora! Deborah in April and May. I definitely missed whatever speculation/theorizing took place here on MDL re: JH, but good to know I got the “adoption” angle correct.
During my deep dive yesterday, I thought I had read every article and watched every video but definitely did not see JEJ’s interview regarding his character and “secret”. Will have to do more searching. This actually makes me happy because it means the character isn’t a mere plot device – and we will eventually learn his back-story and that will explain some of his motivation.
I started to re-watch earlier episodes over the weekend (apparently the hot kiss in Ep. 1 Korean preview was a big deal!) and also noticed the matching suits/cars, etc. TK was an absolute prick to JH in the elevator before he even knew his connection to Yeon Doo (although he put it together soon thereafter). But if it means anything, I don’t see half brothers (same father, different moms). I see twins. They are the same age, after all. (You may recall, I’m a mother of boy/girl twins). Heh, I wonder if we are going to get a same birth date episode. TK surrounded by family, JH alone. Time will tell.
Another hint: JH was a featured speaker at the unwed mother show, talking about how to be financially independent – a reflection on what happened with his mother? Since apparently there IS a mystery to be revealed regarding JH (thank you for that info!!), I might start a discussion topic on him so I can collect info all in one place and keep it off the main board.
Another (and my last) trigger warning: I’ve been shipping JH and SJ from the very first episode, but stayed quiet because I’m not up for a war on the forum. They will be together, they will be redeemed, and chances are good they will have a baby. I like all four couples (five if younger sister/brother are included) and believe all will get a happy ending, but JH/SJ’s journey is the one with the most twists and turns and therefor the most interesting (to me).

However, you are kinda sort going down a path similar to me. Trigger warning: I am a big fan of Jung Eui Jae and his portrayal of JH. Of the entire cast, JH is the only one with NO family, NO history, NO backstory other than became a star investor and then internet influencer.

Is the character (one of only four main characters) merely a plot device with no story or information that tells the viewer why he is so cold and calculating?? Maybe. What a waste of story/character if true since the writers have done a pretty decent job of explaining everyone else's family history and motivations.

I did a deep dive on the internet today - only a handful of cryptic hints re: JH character. I'm thinking maybe orphanage/foster homes/no love as a child.

Which is why I'm curious how you came up with the half bro of TK.

When I get a few minutes later today, I'll look it up again. The drama "Love in Contract" involved issue of "registered" marriages, legal divorce, and "weddings" w/out registration.

I've noticed that both YD and Ji Myeong have occasionally worn much "looser" clothes around their belly area so perhaps they are gradually making the transition. Even so, if the official synopsis (KBS TV) is accurate, the show will eventually show childbirth so they need to get moving w/the timeline!

It's a plot device for bringing TK and YD closer. Plot devices don't need to make sense.

If they are redeemed, they don't get punished. Unless they commit serious crimes (embezzlement, securities fraud, etc) I predict there will be a path to redemption.

The writers have a purpose for keeping them from registering. Perhaps it is to give SJ/JH a potential weapon??Or perhaps writers are holding back so that when they make the decision to register it is because they finally commit to each other. Frankly, I'm bored by YD's treatment of TK - it's too much like American soap operas where characters do, say and think ridiculous things simply because the writers have to stretch out the inevitable. I'm going to be disappointed if they don't register until YD is in the delivery room!

A different way of looking at it: are marriage registrations public? Answer: yes. So, if their names don't show up, they aren't registered.

Ever since I read (back in October 2022) that In-soo would be joining the cast, this has been on my watchlist. In the poster above, he is the counter making the big leap in the center. 😄

Agree. For example, Viewer doesn’t know who the little girl is (during piano scenes) but reading the MDL synopsis, I guess she was little sister of 18th life FL. The show isn’t as fun as I expected, but it’s watchable☺️

First we lost power while I was watching early this am then when power returned — no cable, internet or Wi-Fi. Finally gave up and watched on my itty-bitty phone. Fun episode but will need to re-watch to enjoy some of the location shoots.

Definitely my type of rom-com and I hope the requisite kdrama “toilet” scene is now over and done😄

Can you identify the university and/or the degree he received? It is clear from the robe design and cap style that it was much higher than simply undergraduate.

King the Land begins tomorrow. Available ~ 7:30 am PDT. Pretty certain it will be newest kdrama crush,m lol.

Sometime this fall (maybe October? November?).

I finished (took about a week) and usually if I finish and enjoyued the ride, I give a drama at least 8⭐, but am really struggling with how to rate this one.

Pros:
* Twists and turns and really, really good "cliffhangers". I'm glad I could watch when I had the time rather than waiting a week.
* The character of Cha Min Joon as portrayed by Yoon Hyun Min (He is the reason I started - and stayed. MY favorite type of ML - self-made, smart as a whip, devious and cunning, etc. etc.)
* Corporate power struggles (another favorite genre)

Cons:
Many plot holes and unexplained events.
The FL was a risk taker - but a stupid risk taker.

My major complaint - the romantic feelings were clearly there for the two main leads - but ZERO physical touch.

So, 7⭐. Enjoyable if this is your type of genre but no reason to re-watch.
