Can anyone explain to me the back-story of the 2nd couple - WHY does she like him; WHY does he like her? What happened between them as children (or teens) that brought them together?
I even re-watched their scene as teens (w/the umbrella). Is that the extent of their 'history"?
I like the two actors and I enjoy their scenes together (I'm a sucker for unrequited love), but at this point, they don't have a story of their own - they are simply appendages to the main leads.
well, you have explained well all the reasons I just can't stomach the FL character. I watch her scenes for a few moments and then feel the need to turn away from watching a car wreck.
I've been watching for the 2nd couple because many webtoon fans said they found their story/romance to be even more compelling. And although I enjoy the actors and their scenes, 5 minutes for the 2nd couple against 45 minutes of the Main Couple isn't enough. This drama will be getting very low marks from me.
Except w/r/t to Joon Ha, I don't think SJ has shown any violence towards anyone?? I've been thinking (guessing)…
"Is this your own speculation? Do you have any spoilers? ☺️"
No spoilers, pure speculation - based upon looking at the promotional videos w/ the four main leads, the posters, the PR releases, character descriptions, etc. I maybe 100% wrong and if so, I will admit it. My batting average is about 80% but I sure missed the final resolution in a couple of k-dramas so I don't claim omnipotence.
Re: SJ? I agree - it all depends upon the writer. I tend to believe her "redemption" (if at all) will be thru Kim Joon Ha - other than her father, he is the only one who cares about her, (ignore the current "I hate you" scenes - totally meaningless when there are 18 episodes to unfold).
Re: chemistry between YD and TK? I find it difficult to analyze or understand, but it is definitely not the standard k-drama/weekend drama. Their hugs are sweet but perfunctory. They say the words - 6 feet apart. Maybe the director is trying to stretch out the anticipation. I've watched promotional videos of the 4 main leads and Cha Joo Young/Jung Eui Jae are far more comfortable with each other than the main couple, but perhaps it is because Ahn Jae Hyun came into the production at the last moment.
The happy ending for TK and YD is fore-ordained so I don't care too much about their narrative. A family drama with many characters and 50+ episodes is NOT going to be viewed identical by all viewers. 😊😊😊
Looked like fun until I saw the ML - I have never enjoyed watching him and I'm stuck on "Because this is My First Life" (which I started due to JSM) because of him.
SJ is showing signs of insanity - I’ve a bad feeling that SJ might attempt to hurt or even kill YD. But JH will…
Except w/r/t to Joon Ha, I don't think SJ has shown any violence towards anyone?? I've been thinking (guessing) SJ might attempt suicide once everyone turns against her and she fails in her attempts to destroy Yeon Do's reputation.
From the early public relations for the show: "Will Cupid be able to sort out this tangled mess of romance?"
This is a family show and none of the 4 main leads are going to die or go to prison. JH and SJ will end up together.
i'm also enjoying the gradual evolution of the other Gong family couples.
So, there was a bit of foreshadowing in Episode 27, but I still thought (hoped?) it was related to Lee In Ok/TK.
Grandmother says re: Kim Joon Ha: " I don't like that bastard. . . . He doesn't have the face for good fortune. . .You still can't change the face reading."
So it is due to the actor you like him? Because JH has not shown a singular good trait thus far (cheating, belittling,…
As I've mentioned to you in the past, I watched but didn't pay alot of attention to TRHC in the early episodes. However, because I had seen Ahn Jae Hyun and Jung Eui Jae in other dramas, I paid some attention to them and the characters they were playing. We know TK's history - we still don't know Joon Ha's back-story but we will find out by the end of the drama.
As for the actor, I liked him in "Goddess of Revenge" but even tho he played a "nice" guy in "Kill Heel", that drama was so dreadful that I dropped it.
Yeondoo and Taekyung would be step cousins not siblings. They don't share the same (adoptive) father after all.…
I've been re-watching early episodes, trying to locate the scene where the Kang/Oh family talks about uncle losing money. Haven't found it yet, but in a couple of scenes, Kang Bong Nim is talking to her brother Kang Dae Sang about "their father".
If Bong Nim has "Gong" blood, then where does that leave Oh Dong Wook and Gong Yoo Myeong's romance???? They would be 1st cousins!
(just saw this on a re-watch) Episode 1, Mark 50: Granny to in Ok: "Was your ex-husband a playboy by chance?"🤣🤣🤣
In the same episode - at the tea room - the mother of TK's former girlfriend said that in Ok had TK "out of wedlock" although now that I think about it, perhaps "divorced" and "out of wedlock" mean the same thing or are translated the same?
For several weeks, I believed 100% they were fraternal twins but the 1/2 brother scenario is probably the end game.
Ok, so Joon Ha could be Tae Kyung's half brother if they share the same father.... a jerk who got women pregnant…
Their birthdates are less than 30 days apart - that's a big "coincidence" that the writers are playing with. And at this point, I think they have been playing with us with the identical cars, clothes - now even hair style.
I know most folks hate the character of Kim Joon Ha but he’s been my favorite (or, perhaps the most interesting) from the beginning (probably because I liked the actor Jung Eui Jae in a different drama). I’ve been researching for several weeks and just posted a “discussion” topic above that documents everything I’ve been able to find out about the character. There’s not much available because his “family history” is one of the major “secrets” of this drama. Most of the info comes from interviews with the actor Jung Eui Jae.
Grandmother is 80 years old. Papa Gong/Chan Sik is 64 years old.
That means Grandmother was 16 years old when Papa was born. Strawberry was a toddler (or "infant")when taken away. ("Toddler" is word in the subs)
If Chan sick was ill as a young child and they were poor, family would do anything to protect the male son. Although it's possible that Grandmother had a baby girl when she was 13/14, it's more likely she was born after Chan Sik.
Agree. At this point, I can't even feel sorry for such stupid idiots - but then I tell myself that their failure to register the marriage is worth at least 3 - perhaps 4 cliffhanger episodes.

Maybe a crazy, fantasy rom-com will be the cure.

🤣🤣🤣
At some point, I fully expect an identical embroidered handkerchief to appear and, as mentioned before, Episode 40 is a likely candidate.
As for the actor, I liked him in "Goddess of Revenge" but even tho he played a "nice" guy in "Kill Heel", that drama was so dreadful that I dropped it.
