I sense something between Jang Ho and Bong Nim in the future after Jang Hoβs divorce with that witch.
That's been my thought as well.
Side note: First time I saw Kim Hye Ok was WWWSK (Secretary Kim). She was lovely as the chaebol mother - loving, kind, soft-spoken.
What a change to playing Bong Nim! Totally different character, but even so when she was doing exercises in the school yard, she was moving gracefully.
I started to watch this drama last summer because of the rave reviews, but couldn't get all the way through the 2nd episode. I knew it wasn't exactly like Louisa May Alcott's book, but I thought the characters would have SOME redeeming character.
Returned this weekend because I discovered that Kang Hoon was in the cast. This time around, I didn't hit the FF button until. . . about Episode 5 or 6. And then it seemed to go off the rails. The body count began to multiply. In-joo's singular focus on money was one-dimensional. The teens didn't keep me interested. So, I FF through quite a bit with a focus on In-kyung (middle sister) and Kang Hoon character because they were trying to solve a mystery or multiple mysteries. And Do-il because there were many layers to him - but we really didn't much below the top 2.
Top notch production (Studio Dragon, after all) and good acting. But the story tried to weave together many separate narratives and it simply wasn't cohesive or even believable in the end.
For me, worth the watch for Kang Hoon, Nam Ji Hyun and Wi Ha Joon and therefor not a total waste of my time. 5β.
This was published two days ago in advance of today's episode (Ep. 13).
"The production team said that #KangHoon and #ChoHyeJoo are amazing actors who have already transformed into characters when they arrived on the set. The set has been enriched thanks to the two's intense chemistry "
Truth.
Meanwhile, today I FF through all of the scenes with just Dan-oh and Kang San. I estimate it was at least 25% of the show and all "filler" (that is, didn't move the story forward or reveal anything new).
for those who are on Team Shi-yeol/HongJoo, here is a small gift - still cuts from episode 13. "siyeol [sic] and hongjoo spotted at their first date without hongjoo wears a man's hanbok"
"the production team said that #KangHoon and #ChoHyeJoo are amazing actors who have already transformed into characters when they arrived on the set. the set has been enriched thanks to the two's intense chemistry "
Same ! They always do this in dramas, as long as the main couple get their happy ending, no one else matters,…
Haha, I know that I, for one, posted that this drama would get a 1β from me if Shi Yeol dies. And if he lives but doesn't get a happy ending with Hong Ju, I won't be able to muster anything more than a 2β.
Nevertheless, I'm convinced Shi Yeol IS the Watchman that killed Hong Ju's fiance and I'm also convinced he doesn't realize it yet. In fact, Kang San is the only one (I believe) who has all of the information except he hasn't connected the dots yet.
On other sites (Reddit/Dramabeans) and even here on MDL, the "main" couple just isn't cutting it for many viewers and Team Shi Yeol is very, very large. I think they will get happy ending, but it will be rushed and forced to the side in order to promote the boring, immature main couple.
Ok, I feel like I'm still in the Matrix for real. Now, was that never Kyojin the whole time but Pyo. Did he really…
I put this show on hold long ago (Ep 3?), tried to follow along via the internet (big fail, hard to find recaps on the internet). At the time I said I won't watch if anything happens to Do Jin. I also predicted long ago that many of the memories - or even real time experiences - would be due to brain chips/brain patches/whatever.
So, glad to know Do Jin is still alive. Looks like I was right at least some of the brain chip/patch stuff. If this comes to Hulu in the US, I'll binge watch it.
Just one question - when you said "chairman", who do you mean? I thought he (Jang Geun Mo) was dead - killed by Jae Hyun. But perhaps there is another chariman that has since appeared?? The only reason I ask is that the Geun Mo actor is one of my favorites.
I don't mind spoilers - in fact, I prefer to watch these sorts of thrillers w/plenty of spoilers but this is a show that appears to have few fans on the internet that want to discuss it.
Now do Shi Yeol's parentage! I have a theory - a crazy one, but need to re-watch a few scenes.
I just now posted my latest thoughts regarding the specific individual in the Discussion Topics. But, I gave up the idea about him being Shi Yeol's father. π
Now do Shi Yeol's parentage! I have a theory - a crazy one, but need to re-watch a few scenes.
I abandoned my crazy theory about Shi Yeol's father - who I believed to be the Chief of the Royal Guard Kim Hwan. But I do believe Kim Hwan Guards is protecting the Watchman/WatchMEN. I just now posted a new Discussion Topic with my thoughts.
Now do Shi Yeol's parentage! I have a theory - a crazy one, but need to re-watch a few scenes.
After re-watching all 12 episodes, I changed my mind about Shi Yeol's parentage. But, I did create a new Discussion Topic regarding the individual in question.
I'm having a hard time getting into this one... FL comes off as sanctimonious and hard to like. Tired of the over-done…
This was on my watchlist because of two actors from Alchemy of Souls (Park So Jin andJoo Sang Wook). Not a fan of Yoo In Ah, but I took a chance and after the 4th episode, this is on my "watch-as-soon-as-aired/released" list.
If you need something different - there are probably 20 other k-dramas airing right now. So many options, so little time. πππ
I previously speculated that Kang Ho left Mi Joo, but it's also possible that Mi Joo felt guilty or had to break…
If you truly want some insight (if not complete answers) watch this teaser/trailer which shows many scenes that apparently occur between highschool and the present time.
KH wanting to get adopted by the person that killed his dad and becoming the son in law of the person that got…
Based on teasers/trailers, he didn't end relationship with MJ after her accident. They were involved at some point - JTBC uses the term "lovers", but I've learned over time that can mean different things. I hope the twins are not his as well - just too Cinderella Fantasy type outcome for me.
Petition to turn lines like this from this drama into merch
I thought that line was so memorable that it will surely reappear later in the drama. Maybe they will merch it in the drama when those words are in her new book and they do publicity interviews. A way to earn more $$$
I' watched yesterday because of Yoo In soo, but this morning when faced with the option of watching BoRa! or this…
Actually, BoRa! isn't much of comedy (although the romance will eventually come about). I hesitated because I'm not a fan of In-na (I never finished Touch Your Heart), but I'm enjoying her character in this drama.
Now do Shi Yeol's parentage! I have a theory - a crazy one, but need to re-watch a few scenes.
I re-watched several episodes last night - more to plow through later. I didn't get the clues/confirmation I was looking for. However, I do think there is one person that knows who Lee Seol is and knows who the Watchman is - and he is protecting both of their identities. I'm going to try to type it out and will probably post it in the "Discussion Forum".
However, vniverse, would love to hear your theory on Shi Yeol's father if you have one.
lee pyeong is the former crown prince who was deposed, also father of lee seol and lee gyeom. lee chang (the mad…
Thank you - I did some mega re-watching last night and you are correct. I don't think it's spoiler though, so I'm not tagging my reply. in the very first episode, the Minister Shin Won Ho said" 3 months ago, a young man visited the grave of the deposed Crown Prince, Lee Pyeong, on the anniversary of his death.
But I guess the next time the name (Lee Pyeong) registered in my mind was in Ep. 11. Almost 100% of the references to him are the "deposed Crown Prince".
I'm still unsure who the Grand Prince was. Dowager Queen says she lost two sons. The Grand Prince and his entire family were also slaughtered during the rebellion. So, was the Grand Prince a THIRD son?? I have a feeling that some of this is easy to understand in the novel, but there are gaps in script for the drama.
Side note: First time I saw Kim Hye Ok was WWWSK (Secretary Kim). She was lovely as the chaebol mother - loving, kind, soft-spoken.

I have no idea on the kids and the idea that they are his is just too fairytailish/syrupy sweet for my liking.
