I know I shouldn't be saying this but I want Yeondo not to have the kid somehow because if she does, Junha will…
One of the morals of this drama is that all babies are a potential blessing - regardless of their biological parents (which isn't necessarily a widely held belief in much of Korean culture/society).
Bing told me something different regarding a required DNA test and in the AI overlord i trust, (since goggle is…
Most of your sources involve matters of custody and responsibility. Could you provide the link that covers "challenging legal paternity". I would like to have it in my resource list.
I think your comments confirm my basic point - JH can wreak havoc by claiming paternity and demanding a DNA test - but that is only available AFTER Real is born. However, if they are married, it won't make any difference - the courts aren't going to give JH custody or even require visitation - they look out for the best interests of the child. Unless there is an issue of abuse (which might be a problem if putative ("presumed") father discovers he is not the bio dad), the courts aren't going to interfere, especially for a man who wanted her to have an abortion.
But I really, really don't want to watch some long drawn-out court battle. I don't think that's where the writers are headed.
I started the first episode. It's an ok watch but honestly why does the ML seem incompetent? The only thing he's…
Perhaps the "incompetence" is fake. He only returned to Korea so that he could find out information about his mother - and he also wants to convince his older sister that he has no intention of competing with her for the King family "kingdom". He understands that his sister is trying to undermine him and he goes along with it - for now.
He got his MBA from an apparently very elite English university; he won't let the hotel employees suffer abuse; I think he will get through that interview (with the new questions) with flying colors.
After doing a deep dive on the topic a couple of days ago, I’ve put together a very top-level summary of parental rights/obligations in Korea.
In Korea, a child born to a married woman can only be registered as her husband’s child, even if the husband is not the biological father. No other name can be designated as the father. 🚨🚨🚨 TK and YD better get their marriage registered STAT!
For a birth out of wedlock, the law dictates that “The report. . .shall be filed by the mother.” Fathers cannot register their children. Before 2015, the law dictated that only a mother had the right to do so. After 2015, the law lays out exceptions of when the father is eligible to register but it is a very difficult process. In case of unmarried couples, the birth father has no parental rights and obligations until his paternity (DNA) is established.
My Comment: The above helps explain to us non-Koreans what Yeon Do may have been thinking when she said “Real” has no father, [he] only has a mother. If she and TK are not married, she cannot identify him as the father – that would be considered fraud. I think most Korean viewers understand that the two of them have created a big mess for themselves/the baby and they are screaming at the screen – get down to the registration office right now!
If I find the time, I’ll put a more substantive summary together for the discussion topic forum with links to articles and other sources.
"Yoo In Soo will be joining the cast as new character Na Jeok Bong, a harmless and naive country boy. Jeok Bong lives a simple and peaceful life as a farmer, where he wears a cheerful smile even while breaking a sweat shoveling cow dung.. . . . .
Yoo In Soo humbly confessed to feeling nervous about whether his acting might drag down the drama, remarking, “As a viewer who really enjoyed watching Season 1, I worried a lot when I heard that I’d be part of ‘The Uncanny Counter 2.'”
However, he went on to express confidence in his character, teasing, “Although Na Jeok Bong might be unsophisticated, please look forward to seeing him as a new superhero who knows how to fight back.”
His character is different from the webtoon - not sure how much, but I read somewhere that he doesn't play the guitar and he is "country boy". Side note: Yoo In Soo has been juggling several different dramas since August 2022: The Good Bad Mom (late August 2022); returned to AOS for final filming in September; Daily Dose of Sunshine (I think he is guest role as patient?); UC2 and movie You Did Great during winter and early 2023. This year (2023) is HIS year.
He is adorable in whatever role he plays. How am I going to wait for July 29??
Any updates or corrections would be appreciated. 1. Question: Who KNOWS (suspicion doesn't count) that bio dad…
I've been reading up on pregnancy/parental rights in Korea. We are talking about a pregnant woman - a rather sophisticated or at least "well-bred" woman - 35 years ago. Having a baby out of wedlock and keeping it was unheard of back then and I'm not sure how realistic that would be to today's Korean viewer.
If CM is TK's bio father, it means he cheated on his first wife. Possible but. . . . I don't see it. The most likely scenario to me right now is that she was married to TK's father and he died so she had to raise him alone. But, that could all change in a nano-second with a never-before-seen, but poorly-hidden document that someone finds at some critical point. 🤣🤣🤣

Thank you for your answers. W/r/t No. 5 - JH bought an engagement ring for SJ and intended to propose to her before YD came to the hotel room.
SJ was not YD 2.0. According to the KBS web site :
"For him [JH}, who also thought that marriage was a kind of investment, Yondu is a stable investment. However, he changes his mind when he meets a woman who wants to gamble."
I don't understand the concept of the word "gamble" but it is the opposite of "stable".
the most trouble part is that the kids are that of jerk. they didn't comprehend the consequences of that they…
I did a deep dive yesterday on Korean law regarding birth registration, paternity rights, etc. and was preparing a post before I got distracted. I'll try to post something later.
But a significant factor is that biological fathers have almost ZERO rights in Korea. Joon Ha can wreak havoc if he learns the truth, but he won't be able to get custody or even visitation rights.
During an earlier conversation with bloomingtide, I found out that I have missed some key details, so confirmation…
Any updates or corrections would be appreciated. 1. Question: Who KNOWS (suspicion doesn't count) that bio dad is JH? My Answer: TK and YD only [correct? incorrect?]
2. Question: Who KNOWS that TK is not the bio dad? My Answer: TK/YD (of course) plus Uncle DS?
3. Question: Who knows that TK and YD did not register their marriage My Answer: Only TK and YD
4. Question: Who knows that Hyun Woo and Ji Myeong signed a “co-parenting” agreement allowing separate private lives? My Answer: The pharmacist lady and Ji Myeong’ co-worker(?).
5. Question: who knows that SJ is the woman that JH wanted to marry? Or, that he cheated with? This is one of THE biggest secrets of all – destined to be revealed at THE perfect moment My Answer: Noone(?).
6. Question: who knows that older brother (Chun Myung) and wife (Soo Yeong) are contemplating sperm donor? My answer: Yeon Doo and cleaning lady/uncle’s former girlfriend (but she doesn't know identity of couple (?))
7. Question: Was In Ok a “single” mother or an “unwed” mother. There is a big difference in Korean culture/society. My Answer: I don’t know the answer!?? I was under the impression that she was an unwed (never married) mother, but upon re-watching a couple of episodes, she simply mentions raising TK “alone”.
During an earlier conversation with bloomingtide, I found out that I have missed some key details, so confirmation and/or update on certain "secrets" would be appreciated.
Like any good soap opera, plot and narrative depend on "secrets", specifically the FEAR of a secret becoming known and imploding at any moment (episode cliffhangers!). Some are revealed slowly over time and others wait and percolate until THE perfect moment for reveal. Other "secrets" may simply be big gaping unknowns at this point - the identity of TK's bio father; Joon Ha's family history (totally unknown,. And some secrets may remain secrets to the very end.
Since they involve spoilers from earlier episodes, my questions are below.
JH hates TK because he "lost two women" to him.
SJ hates YD because she stopped her dream wedding.
But today???? SJ is jealous of YD.
Real is a girl because if he was a boy that would be trite "chaebol boy heir"
Olive is a boy because Ji myung deserves to have the "heir".
IMHO.
