what are your doubts? I think it has everything for success....
I was drawn to kdramas because of the romantic comedy genre, tropes and all. Definitely not a fan of historical melodramas or supernatural genres. So, we'll see if Alchemy has a genre mix that suits my tastes. I'm a fan of Jung So Min - that's what drew my attention in the first place.
I realize that most viewers are heavily invested in the romance and chemistry of the Main Couple, but I have zero doubts that they will be a strong and resilient couple with a happy ending. I’m more interested in understanding the potential connection between their respective “powers”.
I have not read the webtoon, so perhaps I am wrong in this, but I believe the opening title sequence and YS’ dream (Ep. 1, scene 1) strongly indicate that YS and CM knew each other as children and shared at least one traumatic event I was going to post my thoughts on this but it’s full of spoilers so, instead, I have created a “discussion” on this topic and if anyone is interested in contributing any clues or speculation, please join in. I am posting this before watching Ep. 7 so tomorrow it may be completely negated/null-and-void.🤣🤣🤣
I hope this works. 5 minute preview [Eng Sub] of characters in Alchemy of Souls. I've had doubts about this show, but I'm definitely going to be there for the first few episodes.
For personal reasons (my daughter, recuperating from major surgery, plans to watch final shows with me), I have not completed FNOS but will do so at the right time. Meanwhile, what are viewers watching/planning to watch to fill the void. I'm looking at Alchemy of Souls, especially since it is on Netflix, but. . . . .the plot looks -C-R-A-Z-Y and totally illogical. I do need logic, even if based on consistent ghostie/magician logic. Any other recommendations?
I just watched the teaser. I think things are going to go awry in terms of her images and whether they are really…
Here's a translation (not official) for Ep. 8 preview:
pilyo: the thing you told cha minhu and not me, why you did that? jiyoung: i heard you have very special ability, he is seeing you because it is so amazing minhu: what about the video? yesul: how about you, mr. cha? yesul: how far did you tell oh jiyoung about me? pilyo(?): don't you ever doubt me once in the future you saw? yesul: i don't think it will works between you and me, that's why let's end it her
I remember commenting last week that although YS told MH about HER special power, he had not told her (1) that he had special powers//sensitivity and (2) SHE was the cure for them. So, she will begin to have doubts about why MH wants to date her. She's going to wonder if all those "happy" kisses were simply because he was using her.
Sooner or later (I'm guessing Ep 9/10) they will need to remember their childhood memories (shared/connected trauma? ??- I think so) and understand why they have a special connection.
Ok, so FL's cousin isn't dying. Right? Then what was all that about?
Once she becomes a doctor "trainee" (that was the subbed word) she will not have any personal time to herself. She kept saying "I don't have much time left" as she was trying to complete a bucket list. Not sure what "trainee" means in Korea, but in the US, based upon her long white coat, she would be starting clinic rotation in hospitals.
The burglar is important...so is the picture frame
Picture frame W/photo shows up in the title sequence and Ep. 1. But I never noticed that camera focused on an empty frame - unless it's the one on the floor in Ep. 6??? which was background to the ongoing scene. Was there a close-in shot at some point?
The pre-release for Ep. 16. I tried to find something that didn't require VPN. And I could only access through S. Korea server (not my usual Hong Kong). And it's not subbed. However, even tho I haven't watched Ep. 15 yet (just can't do it until I can watch ep. 16 at the same time), this warmed my heart.
I think her "life" is over because she is a doctor "trainee". In the US, med students get their long white coats when they enter clinical rotation - part of med school and before residency. Or, in this show, it may be equivalent to a "resident" since it appears they are assigned to one hospital. Either way - your "life" outside the hospital is close to zero in these years.
I am more pissed about their last minute break up should it happen due to Chawoong's noble idiocy tbh. Even if…
I've decided I'm not going to watch Ep. 15 until I can watch 15/16 back-to-back - early tomorrow (Sunday) morning for me. Just can't watch the ghosts leaving without knowing that w/in less than an hour I will be able to watch much happier scenes.
Why does the aegyo portrayed in this, make me feel really, really uncomfortable (especially from Ho Young, but…
LOL, but I had to look up the definition of "aegyo" finally since your post referred to both this show and KSS. I stopped watching SS after Ep. 13 - I'll watch the last 3 episodes all at once - eventually. Meanwhile, I'm re-watching KSS episodes - so much to "unwrap" in terms of ambiguous scenes and dialogue.
The good thing is that she told the male lead about her powers, unless some other shows that drag it to last 3-4…
Yes, but he still hasn't told her about HIS special power. I did see a still cut with her wearing his headphones, so perhaps that scene is coming and it should be fun. Plus, WHY are kisses with her a cure for his illness??. I imagine it dates back to whatever childhood trauma they experienced together.
Once again poor translation from Google Translate (and with some translation from Twitter)The description on ep…
I don't know Korean, but as I watched the preview, I tried to guess what they were saying and many of them (especially PilYo and OhJiYoung) were close to what you translated.
Just completed. I am giving this series my lowest rating ever (6⭐). The first 1/3 was interesting and intriguing with plenty of endearing moments between the two leads. The middle episodes were full of crying. And crying. And crying. At this point, I wondered - why was this described as cute and fluffy. The final 1/3 we are back to cute and sweet - as in saccharine sweet overload. I FF through most of it because most of it was so repetitive. My favorite couple was Hwang Yoo Chul and Ye Ri El - but we would get one 30 second scene with them and then. . . .back to 10 minutes of Main Couple.
