I'm here for Seo Ji-hoon and the promise of a witty, sparkling, lovely plot line with his character (Kim Seok Ju) and Mo Tae-Rin. Thus far, the writer/director/actors are bringing it home for these two lovelies.

Crazy, but the last two weeks, I have been watching on my phone while daughter was in hospital (she's okay) so I've FF through the "slow" scenes because I don't have time/energy to invest. But. . . . . . any scene with Seok-ju or Tae-rin is definitely NOT slow or boring.

I'm engaged to the end for both their separate and united story line, but if they didn't exist, I would have dropped long ago.

What @aeducan15 said. Plus the 2nd episode doesn't end until 11:30 pm (Korea time) on a Friday night.

If you want viewers to stay up late, better give them a reason more than soft, slow-pace, beautiful cinematography, and messy story. Messy story will probably clear up by the end, but viewers need a good reason to watch in real time to affect the Nielsen ratings..

I think marketing/PR relied or focused way too much on the two main supposedly "bankable" leads/celebrities and their character "past love" story line. But I don't live in Korea (although I've been to that seafood market!) so it's always difficult for me to understand why one drama vs another gets high or low Nielsen ratings.

What I’ll be looking for in Eps 7/8

High school flashbacks with Tae-rin and Seok-ju. They are supposed to model three different designs for uniforms so I’m counting on at least two more flashback scenes.

Will that scrapbook appear again? Placing it on a shelf in Seok-ju’s means that SJ will probably find it and look through it. What clue/plot twist will it lead to?

Is there a plot point of Seok-ju not having his driver’s license? Thus far, it has meant filler dialogue (with Je-yeon) and intro to Bang Han-na’s new employee. Waste of time unless it leads to something more.

Final words: I'm still convinced that Seok-ju is Sunwoo Hae's half brother (but Could Be Wrong, lol). Plus: Seo Ji-hoon has the dreamiest eyes and softest smile in all of kdramaland. 😍

Thanks for clarification. To be honest, I was watching mainly for SSH, but was worried they would lay a plot twist near the end that the "actress" had been faking amnesia for the past 25 years.

I haven't watched 11/12 yet, but do I understand that she was faking amnesia the entire time? Fooling/lying even to Cheol - a nice detective trying to help her?

You are correct - it is my opinion, lol.

The Nielsen ratings in Korea have Gone Down! The highest rating for the drama was the first weekend so that tells me that viewers were willing to give it a try but they weren't charmed enough to return and devote their Friday nights to it.

I'm watching for Seo Ji Hoon and by extension, the quirky couple Seok-ju and Tae-rin and I'll watch to the very end. 😊

Thanks for response. For me, it didn't matter what would happen to the ML or the FL because I don't like their story/plot. I'm just surprised that it was inserted at the half-way point. I'm here for the adorable Seo Ji Hoon and I now adore the 2nd couple (as does much of the internet). Plus, I have said this many times: I am convinced that Kim Seok-ju is half-brother (not step) to Sunwoo Hae and if I am correct then stem cell solution is possible. 😊

The low ratings in Korea are more likely due to presenting both episodes back-to-back on Friday night. Plus. . .a very boring main couple that takes up at least 50% of the screen time. MDL ratings mean zero (905 MDL users compared to a a million Korean viewers? Pfffftttt.)

Is it normal to have this sort of twist this early in a drama? I don't usually watch "melodramas", so I'm not aware of usual pace. Now, if this was a rom-com, a viewer can predict pretty easily what will happen and when.

It's not a feud. Seok-ju is Tae-rin's first love/crush but she kept it a secret all these years. All of sudden, he's back in her life and she doesn't want to get her hopes up that he might like her.

Here's descriptions from the character posters (found his on Reddit)

Watching the drifting bubbles, Mo Tae Rin smiles with tenderness and excitement as if sending it to the first love known only to herself back then. Kim Seok Joo’s voice once again unsettles Tae Rin, who endured the harsh years of being a child star and has since established herself as an adult actor. Some of Tae Rin’s lines read, “Maybe I couldn’t say what I really wanted because every encounter was so sudden. There were times when your voice was a comfort. I wanted to say thank you. But why do you keep making me mad!”

Kim Seok Joo’s poster shows the changes he experiences after Mo Tae Rin intrudes on his otherwise perfect, flawless life. Through Tae Rin, who becomes stranger the more he knows her, yet impossible to ignore, Seok Joo discovers emotions he never realized he had. One of the lines paired with Seok Joo’s warm smile reads, “The part of myself I once ignored feels okay now, and maybe it’s fine if we never stop being adolescents—as long as we’re in front of each other.”

According to the JTBC website, CEO fell in love with him when she first visited the fishing village and then later returned. "When Pil-du finally confessed [her] love, Chan felt like his world was collapsing. For me, who was waiting for my soon-to-be-born child, it was an inappropriate confession."

I'm convinced that Seok-ju is Sunwoo Chan's biological son. I think she returned to the village to tell him she was pregnant but found out that his wife was about to give birth.

If true, then it's possible that stem cells from a sibling could help cure Amyloidosis. 100% Speculation.

Dad is/was a "poet" and apparently had a variety of flings with various women. Hae's mother was in his life first and it's not clear if he was married to her when Pil-do (CEO) happened to visit the fishing village. Spoiler below.

MDL ratings aren’t really very relevant – it’s the ratings in Korea that matter and unfortunately (for the drama), the Korea Nielsen’s continue to show ratings going down.

I’m watching for the 2nd couple – their dialogue today was On Fire.

I'm pretty sure this is what happened. Chan (and Hae's mother) lived in a fishing village. They might have been married - hard to tell. Pil-do visits, is charmed by him and they have a brief fling. When she returns to the village to tell him she is pregnant [pure speculation on my part], she discovers that his son (Hae) was just born. A few months later, Seok-ju is born and there is no father identified (Seok-ju has mother's last name). I think Seok-ju suspects that he is Chan's son, but Sunwoo Hae does not.

I posted the hints in the "discussion" page because I didn't want to worry about spoilers on the main comment page.

Tae-rin does deep diving - we saw that in Ep 3 or 4.

I just posted some predictions in the Discussion page (and they include spoilers regarding past episodes), but here's a quick summary:

1. Seok-ju and Hae are half-brothers (not step-brothers).
2. Seok-ju is colorblind
3. Tae-rin should stay away from that deep dive tank
4. Seok-ju, the quiet white knight, also came to FL's rescue when her family went bankrupt.
5. The financial debt is due to Sunwoo Hae's medical issues, not the Harry Potter scam.

I'll keep score and admit when and if I'm wrong. 😊😊

Yes - she does not recall anything from the last 25 years (altho teeny, tiny fragments have apparently come bubbling up into her current conscious, altho the viewer doesn't know if these fragments were recent or long ago. )
