I think so too - plus he knew that every time they went through a tribulation, she would lose her primordial spirit, so the tribulations would kill her anyway, so it was a win win for him. Poor FL for some reason - has a lot of anti fans, so people are completely slating it. Also lots of the novel readers were sorely disappointed at the adaptation (I initially was one of those, but I persevered and I find the drama it’s own thing, and now loving it), but lots of people dropped it. It was overhyped, and expectations following Fairy and Devil, were too high. The initial episodes (2nd tribulation) were slow to get started and editing weird. If it didn’t have this baggage, I think it would have been a sleeper hit. It’s very rewatchable too, because apart from 2nd arc, it’s very speedy and each episode has a lot to unpack. I hope you continue to enjoy! ☺️

That was so touching - despite having him beat him up for providing raunchy novels to XY 😝, he was kind to him and didn’t take the opportunity to torture him during his tribulation.

Sad because this drama is really good. I have not watched as much cdramas as you guys but this is one of my favorites…
That is my hope too. That once the dust settles and if it continues to go in a positive direction ie happy ending and everything resolved - then I hope people looking for a quick snack will enjoy it too. There is so much to unpack in the recent episodes, I have rewatched 2/3 times!

Being too popular esp in China, appears to be a poisoned chalice, it comes with so much baggage, like when Xiao Zhang almost got cancelled because his fans started a war, and he had done absolutely nothing! For DYX - he is not really a traffic star, so to be given big budget projects, I think reflects on his acting capability, but the big budget comes with a lot of pressure, which I worry he does feel. So perhaps slow and steady does it, and hopefully this so called “flop” doesn’t affect his ability to get work. It’s the first show I have watched YCY, and she and the whole show has grown on me. I started watching because of DYX, then persevered because of the hate, and now even my husband who had zero interest, and could only tolerate 1 episode at a time, requested we watch 3 in one go last night! It’s just so so beautiful, I love the clothes, the scenery, the sets and the story. The moments of tenderness in ep 25 were so sweet and 26 was just lol!
Now my biggest hope is that in the next life, the demon one, the leads will team up with Zihui, Jin Luo and Jin…

You are right, come to think of it, even the props people get dragged in and issue apologies. It does reek of exploitation - basically once they stop making money for them they are cast aside and never see the light of day. I just enjoy sharing thoughts with like minded people, I am too old to be properly chasing stars 😝
