Cute for a short story, although plot wise it did get a little confusing. Very rarely does short stories get praise and high ratings, but for what it was, I give it a solid 7. Wish there was a second season because they didn’t give much backstory to the characters especially since it involves it. If you want something sweet and silly to pass the time, then I say go for it. Although one of the comments below does mention a microphone coming from the ceiling and lo and behold, it was there and for a good while too 😆
Only watched the first 5 episodes but it’s pretty entertaining so far. Sometimes you need silly comedies to end the crazy week. I’ve seen ML in My Bossy Wife season 1 and 2, but I don’t recognize FL, even though according to MDL, I’ve watched 2 of her dramas. Must not have been a memorable role if I don’t remember her. She does remind me a little like Teresa Li and Zhang Yu Nan put together. So far I give it a 7 (maybe I’m being generous). Since it’s a short drama I could probably finish it tonight and change my rating depending how good or bad it gets.
Count me in. Ironically the first time I saw the actor that plays him was in a SWAT/military series and he was…
I need to check that out. I watched him in Truth or Dare and his character was a bandit, but with a conscience lol. Completely different from his character here.
I have not paid much notice before to Ding YuXi as an actor, only in Tiger and Rose and I didn’t like the last…
I love Ryan Ding. He was great in Romance of a Twin Flower and Just an Encore (the latter, he was such a green flag uwu). And I’ve only seen Ding Jia Wen (Cui Bei) in Truth or Dare and his character there is completely different from this one. Cui Bei is so cute 🥰
I am enjoying this so far, but I got to ask, is Wei Zhe Ming playing a villian? I also can't get over the fact…
Same. I’m always used to Miles being in modern dramas so seeing him in an ancient drama is different. I’m simultaneously watching him in this and 19th Floor, and seeing him playing a modern good guy and an ancient bad guy (not sure if he’ll stay good/bad in either drama) is making my head spin lol.
Okay, after finishing the final 2 episodes at 2:30am, which was approximately 16 hours ago, I have come to terms with the ending. It didn’t make any sense whatsoever, but at least Amai didn’t end up with that loser of an emperor. Seriously, how did he go from a funny, loving, upstanding, albeit dumb marquis, to a cruel, stupid emperor? How could he take the words of his enemy as truth and hurt the person he cared about most? Make it make sense! Even with the 3 year time jump, he still wanted to get back with Mai. Did he forget he has an empress and concubines? Also, in the 3 years, why didn’t crown Prince grow? Kids usually have a growth spurt around that age, but he still looked the same. Meh. Also, why did 2nd ML only get like 5 minutes of screen time at the end? I liked that he proposed twice, and she still said no (I volunteer as tribute to be his wife! lol). Still gutted that Tang died, even Chen Qi. Again, he listened to words of his enemy not even verifying if it was true. As much as he was a jerk, he did care for Mai. Speaking of Mai and the 3 year time jump, did she never think of traveling the world and being on her own during all that time? Why all of a sudden after 3 years did she decide she wanted to be alone? Really makes no sense, unless they make a part 2, with new writers hopefully. But most dramas rarely have a second season, so I guess I will be content with this ending. I don’t normally do reviews but I might for this one, in case anyone goes into this thinking it will be great, but might end up disappointed like a lot of us in the comments.
