Amazing actors with a messy script, I swear this plot is so typical of the 2000s dramas where there was so much…
Don’t know if anyone here has seen the older ones? (Autumn in my heart, Winter sonata) This show definitely gives off that nostalgia vibe, which is why I think the ratings are so high. Tiring for us, but I see why it’s getting so much love (especially domestically).
Character development who? We don’t do that here apparently… I noticed this episode that I understand Eun song more as a character than Hae In, since they never actually talk about her issues or pov. In ep. 14 she’s still being rude to him?! And Da hye is still trying to leave without any communication?! Just TALK! The hospital bed scene was PERFECT to clear up misunderstandings, talk about their failed marriage, miscarriage etc. they could’ve done so much there, I’m not sure why this show doesn’t want to give us any closure or development, or why the female characters are so immensely disappointing, but there’s certainly no redemption here in terms of plot. We don’t even know why the mistress/ES mom is doing all of this. Anyways, both Hyun woo and Soo cheol are excellent men in different ways, and Eun song is very hateful but they’ve built his character up so much I understand what made him this way. The dads and the moms are great too, and had lots of great development. It’s almost as if different characters were written by different people.
my god how is this below that childish my lovely runner drama here rn
Lovely runner is only on ep.4 right now. On ep. 4 of QOT, I was crazy for this show. Give the kdrama writers some time to destroy their own masterpieces lol. (I am watching Lovely runner and loving it so far, but I don’t doubt by ep.14 like all shows it will be poorly developed)
Is this really worth watching?(Critical opinion without bias pls)Not really liking the written plot (not that…
I am usually super critical (even of some of the most popular dramas right now). But I have to say, so far it great! It’s a nonlinear narrative (which is not easy to do). The FL character can be a little childish but she isn’t immature, and she’s very protective of ML. The ML character is extremely lovable. I love their themes of depression and the importance of reaching out to someone. It’s only on episode 4 so of course we don’t know how it will develop, but so far they’ve written extremely well in terms of plot development and flow. I think it will get quite predictable further down the episodes, but that’s not a bad thing in a time travel story, it just means they’ve set the stage well for the climax. For me who judges kdramas very harshly, I would say 9/10 is desevered so far.
I loved this show so much for so long, the disconnect I feel with it now it very sad tbh. I can’t even point to why, they have so much chemistry but their scenes together aren’t enough of satisfying. The family is super entertaining but they miss things constantly. For example, what happened to the aunt at the end of todays episode? Wasn’t she saying she’d go back soon, but only the mom and dad arrived at home, and she was missing from the rest of the episode. What happened to the brother’s wife and with the child? (Are they really trying to pass off the cheating as a romance?!) They never mentioned the miscarriage/loss of child again either. Instead we get the delusional creep stalking the main couple to Germany (why won’t the villains die?!). At episode 13, the show shouldn’t feel so frustrating and they should’ve answered at least a few questions. I love the cast, direction and actors, but the plot development and pace is exhausting. At the beginning, I thought I’d be so sad when it ended, but now I actually look forward to it… (won’t mention the cliche tropes, cause as people say, they can be done right for sure. But I don’t think the narrative is strong or tight enough to carry it well)
I think you will be unhappy then. The ending was fore-ordained from the 1st two episodes.
No I’ll be happy for the characters, but very unhappy with the narrative. I loved the non conventional endings of both CLOY and My love form the star, so I’m hoping it won’t be a HEA, since that doesn’t make sense with the way the plot is being developed around her illness.
would you like the romance more if they had more scenes together?
Definitely, but Park Ji Eun didn’t write it that way and we’re already on ep. 12, so to maintain the narrative now, I think it’s better to end with death.
That’s not what people like to watch or wanna see. We wanna see miracles, happy ending, etc. Real life already…
But that’s so many shows! There’s already plenty of kdramas that do miracles (you can see My Demon and many older ones). Once in a while, a show with real mature characters comes along and I just want it to be bittersweet (they redeem their relationship but she dies anyway). It’s a another level of writing which is pretty rare for kdramas, so it would never nice to see.
I’ll be going against popular opinion here, but I hope the main couples in this show actually don’t end up together in a happily ever after. The childhood saviour trope is certainly very cliche and kind of cringe, but what I like is how they show that even fated people can end up divorced and sad if they don’t communicate well/maintain their relationship. With FL’s illness, I would honestly like to see her live for a few more years or simply pass away. While yes incredibly sad, that would make the writing much more unique and break all old tropes. Sometimes fate can just be cruel. Soo Cheol and his wife should absolutely not end up together. He can still love her like the fool he is, but she should at least go to prison for all her crimes (literally tried to kill Hae In!) and he can raise the child since he’s very attached. For me, the romance in this show isn’t that great honestly, so I’m watching for the excellent storytelling, which I hope doesn’t fail as we get closer to the end.
Appreciation post for the starting credits! In all the shows I’ve watched, I’ve never watched the credits of every single episode with no skipping. The blurred effect, the music and their pictures/moments on screen are perfection!
Also, for todays episode, I knew right away it wasn’t KSH, he changed his demeanour/acting so slightly, but it was so visible. (This is why they pay him the big money lol)
I always see the same plot in Chinese and Korean dramas where Malaysia is portrayed as a hub for money laundering.…
I think it’s become a stereotype after the 1MDB scandal because of the involvement of many many foreign companies and governments, and due to the Malaysian officials role as well. It’s certainly not super corrupt, but since one of the biggest banking/embezzlement scandal was there, it’s easy to write in most stories I think.
I love the small details in this show. Does anyone notice how in the promos it’s the two families dining separately, then in ep. 9 Hyein and Hyunwoo sat at the opposite ends of the table. But now, Hyein always sits on his family’s side with him. I don’t know if they plan such details, but it’s very cute.
It’s very strange, she spends all day with his mom learning to cook, is super nice to his family, defends him…
Actually lol, my own grandma was exactly like this. She’d always yell at and critique my grandfather, but wouldn’t let anyone else say anything or judge him. Defended him a lot with her much richer family (he came from a poor one but was smart). I think it’s actually pretty common with the older generations. Honestly, I don’t understand this type of person at all so I get what you mean, but I’ve definitely seen it happen.
Trust Haein to gaslight and hurt hyunwoo with her words every single time. There's literally no need to say, of…
It’s very strange, she spends all day with his mom learning to cook, is super nice to his family, defends him in front of her own. But just cannot say a nice word to her husband. In the end when she wanted to wait for him to eat, she actually reminded me of one those Grandma characters /older wives, who would do everything for the husband except be nice to them. I realized that they’re very old couple coded despite the modern/gender bend story.
This show is so incredibly frustrating honestly. I like them so much, but they’re all very annoying right now. - Firstly, I wish they’d stop wasting time on the SML/Villain. Why is he even one of the main characters, he almost has more screen time than the main couple combined. His creepy obsession is not entertaining and the show is NOT about him! - The FL is so likeable, but has 0 development so far. She’s dying, how does it matter to show emotion or not?! - I cannot stress on how dumb the grandpa is/was. He signed convertible bonds and issued a joint security — basically made his whole family very broke (they’re all real finance terms, but you’d have to be super dumb to do that). We’re more than halfway through the show, and I love them and want to see so much more of them, but the progress and pacing are extremely disappointing. Honestly, they might as well kill the FL cause they’ve spent no time on bettering her life/relationship.
hating on the drama way too much is not fun, it's cringe and weird
I see you under so many comments lol. I’m never one to hate on any drama (dislike yes, hate no) but I’ve decided to make an exception for this show. Mainly because they take an interesting premise and then destroy the hell out of it. Incompetent writers shouldn’t be writing and taking our money with giant budgets. Even the hate the actress gets is because of the person who wrote her character to be that way. If they want to make a “smart” complex show, then they shouldn’t fear criticism.
Some weird dudes on here told me that this drama wasn't a fairytale and too deep for me to handle, but seriously,…
Lol some people are just very delusional, and I guess they think no one will ever question the garbage “business” stuff (maybe cause they didn’t understand it themselves?). Honestly I refuse to believe that chairman was running such a giant company for decades. He has no employees that he can truly trust before our genius boy came along. What did he even do before Taeho? 😂 I wish the writer would read at least one book, any book!
I see quite a few people here asking why this show is getting much more hate/anger than scripts that are written worse. IMO this is much worse than the bad rom coms, mainly because other types of dramas can have unlikeable characters or slow/strange plot progression, but this show has the *pretentiousness*. Characters you can’t root for, no emotions, no relatability, they won’t even explain motivations. The thing I hate the most is that Kangho could’ve been any type of business that sells real products to customers, but they chose the investment firm route, and then spent most of the 10 episodes (after 1 and 2) saying complete BS. They actively try to make the viewer feel stupid or to just give up with more complex terms, but you’re not! Writers are the stupid ones, believe me! It’s like a sad counterfeit or dupe of Succession/Billions style tv shows. Anyways, good riddance and happy freedom from this show to us all lol.
