I was quite annoyed when Lin Yusen in ep 27 said he’s going back to the medical field but then he said “I…
I also noted the "I cannot be a doctor" statement, and do not disagree with the fact that he does not have to be a neurosurgeon.
However, we have to remember that his career and "life" as a neurosurgeon". Clearly, to him surgeon and doctor were one and the same. When he could no longer operate, he no longer thought of himself as a doctor. My daughter is a general surgeon, and I really do not know how she would react if she could no longer operate, and how long it would take her to overcome that loss.
From the episode where he tried to play that game while XG was in the hospital, it's implied that he cannot hold…
In flashbacks in earlier episodes. it seems that both his fine motor skills and his vision were affected. We have to remember that he was a neurosurgeon, not a family doctor, and that requires exceptional control of his motor skills and excellent vision.
how come fl wearing skirts in winter. I'm feeling cold thru the screen lol 🥶
I quickly checked the weather forecast for both Shanghai and Suzhou, and the daytime temperature will be around 9 C tomorrow. Definitely not tropical, but within "skirt-wearing" temps, at least by Canadian standards.
I really enjoy this drama from the plotline to the relationship between the mainleads, but what's getting to me…
Having lived in Hong Kong, I can attest that the food there was much better than in most Westernised Chinese restaurants. Mind you, there is a a very large Chinese diaspora in the area I live in (Markham), so the food quality is closer to China quality.
In case people think that the "the food abroad is terrible" statement is merely for dramas, my ex-wife, who I met in Hong Kong, stated that her mother made better moussaka than they had on a 2-week trip to Greece!
Ahhh there’s nothing more relaxing than watching a romance with a mature man who is confident in himself, knows…
From the other side of the aisle, it is really lovely to see a confident woman step forward to show everyone and their cousin (puns intended), "I am by his side. Do not mess with him."
Why is this drama so poorly filmed although the lead actors are both quite good/well known??? Like I can literally…
I suspect that the budget did not extend to flying the actors and film crew for such a small part of 1 of 36 episodes.
And to be honest, a green screen is not the most egregious thing I have seen regarding depictions of London. As a born and raised Londoner, possibly the worst was an action film where the lead was seen driving north on Tower Bridge only to end up in the Surrey countryside. This is impossible for two reasons, Tower Bridge is in the centre of London and kilometres from any countryside, and Surrey is to the Southeast of London.
If I recall correctly around episode 23, the overview of the solar panels opened a subject that I wasn't expecting…
Earlier this morning, I posted the following in reply to a similar discussion about the PV and renewable energy industry. [Apologies if you have already seen the material.]
Gu Man obviously lacks some medical school knowledge and have her shortcomings in background Research hahaha,…
I do not disagree that the pathway is problematic. For me, the issue is where/when did he do his clinical training/residency. The problem is that he is listed as an attending physician. If the resume had said resident physician, then it is slightly more believable.
I said this and was attacked. It’s the truth, these people overrate every drama and now the ratings aren’t…
Respectfully, you do not own the site any more than the people who like the show do. I have to marvel at the irony of your name being Praise and you stating "They’re ruining our site!!!"
Everyone is entitled to their own opinions and views. These are usually based on personal experience, perspectives, and beliefs. I am one those who is enjoying the overall pace of this story. There is something somewhat relaxing and relatable about gentle interplay between the characters as they have gone through the different stages of their relationship. In my experience, there have been many series that have gone from the first meeting to the full blown relationship/marriage with very little in between.
Fair point. I have not seen the actual scene; I was recalling what had been said before and extrapolating. I deliberately put good father in quotations to show that I do not think he has been one.

I did a quick check. Like the U.K. and Europe, medical degrees in China are undergraduate, not post-graduate. So, yes, Yu Sen could gone straight into a PhD programme at Johns Hopkins after completing his Chinese studies.
This is the link to the international student undergraduate degree at the Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine: https://www.shsmu.edu.cn/iso_en/info/1029/1381.htm According to Clause 5.17, they will accept applicants under the age of 18, which would fit what Yu Sen said about starting school earlier than most.
That would be a nice thought, but I recall several comments about him having financial troubles (including delaying payments to Shengyuan. So, I suspect that he is just trying raise cash rather than be a "good father".
I don’t think 23 and 24 are fillers. They both needed to sort things out - and we got to see exactly how awful…
Completely agree. The episode was essential to show how the two of them processed the knowledge of what really happened. If the story had skipped straight to them getting together it would have made a mockery of Yu Sen losing his career and life's direction. We needed to see the two of them working through the situation and get to the point where they can actually move forward unincumbered by the past.
Ep 23 was a filler i guess BUT ep 24 was so sweet and the confession was sooo beautiful, they are so sweet and…
I have to disagree with the thought that ep 23 is a mere filler. It was necessary to show the fallout of them discovering the lie that Ma Nianyuan had told and to show how the two of them dealt with the consequences.
Yu Sen had lost his life's direction as a result of the accident and had resented Xi Guang for not visiting him. He had started to wall off that resentment as they got to know each other. The fact that all of that had been predicated on a lie would have been a profound shock to anyone. He needed to time to process how he felt then and how he feels now based on the truth. Anyone would do the same.
Xi Guang was understandably angry given that she had been "blamed" for something that she had nothing to do with. How do you deal with finding out that the person you are attracted to has blamed you for an accident that changed the career and life?
