I agree with some points - this situation indeed messy. But also don't forget - Li Shuang family status kinda complicated. So what happen if she get involved in such messy palace intrigue on behalf of the Li family without her father approval? Imo it'll become much much more messy very fast.

There is a bit of nuance in difference between villain and antagonist. He def not villain, but he was antagonist for Li Shuang. After all he was opposing her, working with this spy abducting her brother and creating conflict for the plot. But I'm glad they go this way with his redemption arc. I really like Liu Yi Hong - he has range as an actor, and I'm glad he's not just 'one of the bad guy' plot-wise.

Imo she is perfect exactly like this - smart, resourceful, calm and focused but not overpowered Mary Sue. Of course she have plot armor - she FL after all, bt it's not overdone and i really appreciate it.
