AH FAJKASFBJKSDBFJFBDU This fucking drama has been in a chokehold. I love every minute of it. Damn you, Ling Bu Yi! This motherfucker has NO CHILL. He is openly staring into Shao Shang's little soul. The girl is confused, scared, and seeking a safe zone from him. That edict scene, bruh LBY YOU HAD TO BE THAT OBVIOUS IN FRONT OF EVERYONE?!!!!! my poor heart couldn't take that scene with that stare. And my girl, was like listing what the emperor said with hella confusion like, "he called me kind, gentle, knowledge? he is talking about me?" hahahaha
This drama has my complete attention. It truly is a clear-cut story with development being set up. There are so many great details and each character stands well. It is one of the few dramas where I'm not willing to skip a single scene.
My poor little Shao Shang. I really loved what they did with the imagery of seeing her as a child with the candy. I am slightly annoyed with the mother because in the books she already calmed down by then so keeping her like this seems a stretch. Then again, personalities don't change that quickly, so it makes sense. The mom, in this case, isn't that wrong when it comes to the engagement with Luo Yao. We see that clearly with how Shao Shang answered whether she loved Luo Yao, she is quick to accept this marriage because she is afraid she won't find someone nicer. She doesn't even want to delay it because of that fear. Luo Yao is also a simple person that she can clearly request anything from and that is a reason she is willing to marry.
Loving this drama, can't wait for the next episodes.

The second uncle is the one who divorced Madame Ge. Madame Ge has a sister, who goes by Aunt Ge and she helped raise Yang Yang. That lady who was sweet will come back. Mademe ge (who is now divorced, will not come back). IDK if the guy gets re-married or not. Third Uncle, who is considered handsome is married and his wife is kind to our FL.

Sorry, the incident with desk, featured Third Uncle's wife (and her aunt) she was invovled. Aunt Ge (other one not Madame ge (that is what she was called) should definitely make a return.

She gets engaged to Lou Yu (sml) technically. The 3ml also tries to proposes, doesn't get far before the ML beats them all to it. None of them really fight against the ML later. SML gets married to another girl. The 3ML idk because I haven't gotten far

There is a scene in the book where CSS is punished by her mother severly. This and another incident where she wrongly blames CSS, she realizes (thanks to aunt ge that she was being bias against her daughter) she slowly loosens the reins on her and lets CSS be more free but i would say it was a turning point to to her CSS's mother. From there, we slowly get better but it is still not the best. THere is one scene between that was cute.
For those who have read the novel, at what point does FL reach an understanding with her parents and how?
FL gets along with her siblings and father pretty earlier; at first, it was not sincere, but quickly became sincere. As for the mom, I would say after one major incident, she improves and they slowly work from there.
As someone who is reading the book, I MUST SAY....without spoilers, I still could not understand CSS's mother's choice in treating CSS. She neglected her own child, and she KNOWS it. She also knows that Madame Ge would not teach or show compassion to her daughter. CSS is illiterate for crying out loud. She fights for basic things because that is how neglected and mistreated she was. It is visible to any receptive character and YET she shows no compassion for her daughter and DARES to claim another person as her daughter too. Like BITCH? NO. Would her daughter BE in this position if NOT for the schemes of everyone near her? Would her mother have been happier if she has died considering how she nearly did? I get that the mother "loves" her daughter, but I'd pass on her too. When CSS listens to Aunt Ge, she realizes what care, patience, and love for someone are. Aunt Ge takes care of Yang Yang like a daughter compared to her own mother. And her mother legit DISSED her in her face in front of everyone. UGH.
[Side note: this is so well-acted, loving the drama! It just re-ignited my rage from the book]
Wow watching how shao shang's mom treated yang yang over her OWN damn daughter BURNED MY HEART. Had she even shown that to her daughter in the first place instead of being strict. She had NO ONE and fought on her own and RIGHTFUL want justice!!! It enraged me that the mom COULD BE THAT stupid!
