I don't even watch the show BUT it seems clear to me that those offended have A CLEAR reason to be offended and chose to warn and push people away from this drama. Those that are defending should calm down and just watch their drama since they want to watch it anyway. What on earth is the point of you defending something to the ground simply because YOU DON'T find it racist? The media is always portraying harmful and racist narratives, it's a problem FOR EVERYONE. This is why we have to call it out even if it means "we can't enjoy our drama" for some changes to happen. Everyone should make it known to production, writer staff, and more through letters to have that kind of content removed (as Wanderer suggested).
And a fellow user Kate pointed out, that the comment section should be of civil discourse. Those rightly offended wanted to watch and enjoy the drama as much as those who are enjoying it BUT they couldn't for a good reason.
Just seeing this article now XD well done on it. I am a BIG BIG BIG fan of the manhua which I read and read more times than I can count so I, unfortunately, did not like the changes in drama. I was also upset that the ML was there from the beginning and made interactions with the female lead from the start. The bond they made and how Ashile Sun treated her is important. Him knowing she was a girl also annoyed me. I personally couldn't detach the drama from the manhua for this one. But the acting and look were done well. There were just some important beats I wanted kept in there but they did keep some of the essences. I wish they lowered the romance of it because it honestly wasn't a thing. The whole story is about each character developing and coming to realizations, especially Chang Ge. The only hint of romance came near the end of the manhua (where it technically forever ended because of the writer) and still, it was very questionable in my opinion.
I really hope they adopt this completely, small changes are fine but I love the novel. I just know Leo Wu and Zhao Lu Si will do it justice. I'm so excited, they are perfect for these roles and will steal hearts~

For clarification, I'm talking about the gaming scandal within the story, I don't care nor am I aware of outside of the drama news about celebrities for this drama. As for Cheng Xiao, she may be a beginner but she is the lead actress, nonetheless, and so she gets the same treatment I give to all actresses/actors. She does not get a pass because she is a beginner since there are plenty of beginners who have done well.
