I have a theory. It is clear Chun Yu's dad designed the game but there was a serious dispute. For whatever reason, the president NEEDS Chun Yu's dad who has gone MIA. (likely is the guy speaking with Gao Xuan) So obviously, the president decides to pull Chun Yu in the game in the hopes that her dad appears as well. I think Chun Yu's dad is the reason that Gao Xuan is in the game. He is using Gao Xuan to dismantle the game. I think the game has an internal design switch that near the end, allows the gamers to disconnect their chip. But the president may not know about it.
Not entirely sure how I'm feel about the progression of this drama. They aren't solidifying any information of value and the "bad guys" so to speak seems to unlimited resources and powers. We are already half way through the drama, I hope it fixes things.
Best Characters this season: Hyeseon, Ha Jeong, Jin Seok, Si Eun [adorable and lovely to watch] Bland Characters: Min Woo, Woo Ik, Min Young [didn't bring anything to the table] Worst Characters: Ha Bin, Gyuri [ left a sour taste in my mouth] Villains of the Show: Gwan Hee, Min ji [shady little red flags]
I really like Hye Seon. She always keeps it straight and doesn't let someone else's emotion infect her. It is a shame there are no interesting guys this season beside our drama king Gwan Hee.
Ha Jeong seems to have resolved herself, at least I hope so.
Oh, Gwan Hee. You will talk yourself in circle not knowing anything but what you feel in the moment for one person. He asks roundabouts questions to trip people up in their answers in order to really find out how they feel about him. And considering his profession, it makes sense. He also wants a lady to chase him because he thinks he can gage her interest in him better. He is also afraid if he pursues, he will be manipulated which he probably has in the past. The "poor boy" needs therapy guys. Yes, he is a red flag, but he needs therapy bad. I feel sorry for anyone who crosses his path.
Minji either gets attached and emotional invested too quickly or she is acting it up. She randomly cried after the loss in the game, which even had the girls confused. She started grabbing/tapping Gwan Hee's arm knowing he wasn't interested in talking with her than starts crying about it. What confuses me is why she chose Min Kyu anyway when Gwan Hee requested her to pick Jin Seok. Yes, she has the full right to pick anyone, I don't care about that. Gwan Hee doesn't have a right to request jack shit from anyone with his red flag ass. I am fully aware of that. But still, why would she pick Min Kyu? Because he is committed to Gyuri? So? At least with Jin Seok, she can clear things up with him if she was dead set on Gwan Hee, but she chose someone UNINVOLVED entirely, to whom, she didn't even speak with because he was committed to Gyuri? I'm sorry, that doesn't make sense. I can understand if she enjoyed talking with him before or because she was interested in him, but neither was the case. She also didn't build any sort of friendship that would've been okay to choose him similar to last season. So that was confusing to me. Others were also confused by her pick on the show. Her also guess/knowing he was a basketball player was sus, than again if she was trying to be a reporter, she may have already known him thus also knowing his age so her guessing his age bit was entirely fake.
Gwan Hee is an interesting character this season. I can see why the producers give him the most screen time. Outside of Jin Seok, all the other guys are boring while all the girls are really interesting.
One thing for CERTAIN compared to previous seasons, this season was more obvious everyone is here to get attention which I think really makes it less entertaining. Previous contestants put more of an effort of being involved in actually dating and getting to know the other person. I feel like I don't really see it at all this season, I see more of , "well did you like me, what you did made me jealous, i'm more attracted to you" convos but all we see aren't even remotely deep conversations for us to feel like we can understand WHY you are interested them. It could've been cut, which sucks if it was. But
Ha Bin is started to feel like a producer add in actor not a contestant LMAO. When he said Hyeseon was into Won Ik, I was like, WHEN? WHERE? ON WHAT VIBE LEVEL?
I feel like I'm most annoyed with the LEVEL OF EDITING this season compared to previous. Am I the only one who feels like things are choppy? It also feels more directed than last season with cameramen and producers whispering, go there, be there.
LMAO 100%! That is the issue when you play that card so many times, you make your audience less invested and only…
Don't think I got passed episode 2 for NIF and LMAO I also tried JOL 2-3 times and couldn't go pass first 2-3 episode but thats because I don't get the humor. It feels like something is lost in translation for me with that drama. I do want to give it another try as well especially with season 2 is on the way.
LMAO 100%! That is the issue when you play that card so many times, you make your audience less invested and only…
Oh I completely understand! I can't STAND groundhog day type movies or dramas. I think this filled my quota for at least 10-15 years because I really dislike that theme. Drives me crazy.
This was one of the few times I truly tolerated it and enjoyed the drama. I think the mystery helped and that someone pushed it on my rec challenge. Otherwise, I would never have gone into this drama because of my hatred. LMAO 😂😂
But hey, if its not your vibe, you will live fine never watching it 😂
It also got tiring how many times one would nearly die throughout the drama.Haha - I thought I was watching a…
LMAO 100%! That is the issue when you play that card so many times, you make your audience less invested and only waiting for how you going to repair the issue this time around. Near deaths should have the same stakes as someone's final death. It should make audiences concerned not bored that they pulled that fake death trope again.
One of the most recent dramas that pulled it off well for me was Reset (2022) which manages to make me invested. Highly recommend it if you haven't watched it yet!
It's funny because I think the issues of this drama could've been reduced dramatically by changing a few things.
1. Li Tongguang character should've been steady and progressed passed his obsession and into his strategic mind as someone who is goal oriented. Additionally, I think Yang Ying and him should've developed as their own romance instead of Chu Yue or Yuan Lu.
2. The story progression in the end was super erratic and it would've been better to resolve the issue with Emperor and his son carefully, kill the captured emperor Wu earlier, allowing the other brother to take the throne while our heroes are focused on the Emperor An. Remove the other prince's (brother or emperor wu) arch because there was no time to develop it anyway.
3. Lastly, shift to the countries joining forces against the outside force. They wasted time showing us this but just do an entire time skip with our characters and have Yang Ying telling her children (her and Li Tongguang) about these great heroes by their grave. The ML and FL aren't dead, instead we end it on a cottage house filled with laughter of two children and listening to ML instructing his kids to behave while the FL is busy helping former Scarlet Gardens in a village nearby.
4. Cut out all the, "I'm dead, JK i'm not dead " scenes only leaving 2 at most. That was tiresome for me.
Anyway, I feel like this would have been enough fix that I would've glossed over the other stuff and rated this way higher.
For this season, my Favorite Guest on Hello Saturday has to be: Zhao Lu Si (appeared only twice, but I legit rewatched her episodes because she was so funny and the cast was on a roll) Meng Zi Yi (always funny whenever she comes on) Wei Da Xun (legit he felt like a regular member at a certain point) Yang Zi (she really plays well with everyone)
There are couple more but these were the ones I couldn't forget and names I remember.
honestly idk how to feel abt min young like i loved her but she makes me so confused like what is going on inside…
Min Young wanted to hold on to one guy, to say she was bagged one but because she didn't know what she bagged was the actual best, she wanted to see others. In doing so, she dropped the one she bagged. It's perfectly fine, it happens, but her expected that the bag will always be hers is where her senses are lost.
Well look at that. Gwan Hee got tagged as a red flag by the girls during their girl talk. HAHAHA! Ha Jeong seems like the only girl still playing with him. IDK why but I loved that she spit fire on his ass and told him how it was.
Jin Seok is getting love, and I'm here for it. Nothing against Min Young but if you are always chasing to see other options, you tend to lose what you know is good already.
Min Ji is a cute addition to the show, can't wait to see more of her interactions.
This two episodes seemed like they were the most cut/editted version, it was really patchy. Jin Seok and Gwan Hee (unfortunately) are the most interesting to watch. The other guys are boring.
Honestly just want more of the girl talk moments where information gets exchanged. Gwan Hee lost so many points with all. Ha Jeong (FOR WHAT REASON) remained interested, may have to be because she wants to catch him and throw him away. IDK.
SIDE NOTE: Bruh, how many damn models or fashion industry people are going to be on the show? I think the show should strictly pick non-entertainment industry contestants personally.
Still Gwan hee is the only one who got two date so girls like player they don't like guys who will be loyal I…
Again, you can't blame those who are manipulated for their manipulation. I have seen 40-60 years old get tricked let alone 20-30 years olds. Not everyone is self-reflective to the point of seeing those patterns especially if it has happened to often to them.
Also, this is "dating show" Hye Seon wasn't upset with him saying to see other people, she also agreed that she wanted to see other people. This season more than most has everyone wanting to see other people compared to being fixed on one person. Ha Jeong is playing the game, she doesn't even seem like she is offended, she seems like she was hoping to lock him in but it didn't work.
We have so much of the show to get through and yet to understand everyone before making a complete assessment of their characters. So lets just keep watching.

Min Woo better not hurt Si Eun.
Anyone the script for this season is interesting.
