I think that romantic wishing from her came more from a place of abuse. She probably married in good faith and then he started beating her. She wanted to leave him then found out she was pregnant. I bet her mental place of peace was going back to the innocent time that she and the Crown Prince were happy and it spilled over into a reality. Misplaced emotion on her part doubled up by dirty deed Crown Prince always flashing her looks of longing. He's the true dish wad in this turmoil.

His face told his choice and truthfully, I've watched that scene a coupe of times. I don't see regret in his expression either.

Me either. CSS is not a forgiving person and with what she has to go through without his "protection", she might forgive him but it will take a lot for me to soften towards the character.

I truly cannot imagine how this show could be topped. I read where actors, after portraying a character in a well written show, experience depression for months afterwards. I now understand the reason why.

I agree. SS is not the forgiving type and if that part of the story arc doesn't make character sense, I sense pillows being thrown at the screen on my end.

If I'd had to choose between the two when I was young, passion would have won hands down. At my current age, having someone with a personality in common would be the lead horse in the race. I've loved his character since moment one on screen because the actor absolutely nails this emotional conflict even without saying anything.

I know. I would have probably thought up a two paragraph reply if someone had asked me that, her simple words of "it's all about what is most important" really boiled it down to the truth.

He's been an interesting character to me since his first appearance. He yearns for and dislikes (at the same time) a lady of fine manners and etiquette. His internal conflict has been apparent since moment one with SS.

Episode 40 is extremely interesting in detailing that life for Ling Bu Yi is about choices. He can live in the darkness of the past or choose the light of a future. Hats off to Leo Wu in his portrayal of the character because his facial and eye expression says it all.

She's an enigma to me. I have absolutely loved the two times she has cut and defended those needing it (hello old Princess Consort), but her motivation to reacting to the moves and countermoves is interesting. Sort of like the spider watching all the insects that fall in the web to see which one is ate first.

I think out of all the characters, 5th Princess was my least favorite but also flawlessly portrayed by the actress. I've met a few entitled people just like her in my lifetime and it made my blood boil to watch her maneuver and denigrate. I truly cannot imagine having a birth mother and an Empress share my father. The struggles and power plays between camps had to be real because human nature, unless innately passive, is to compete and conquer. I'm personally not smart enough to be patient and execute plans against an opponent, so there's no doubt I would have been killed or imprisoned in the first round.

I believe she surrounded herself with people who voiced and incited her feelings of unfairness. In real life, I call them "harpies" and all they do is parrot the nonsense of a pack leader.
