Yes he is protecting her in subtle ways because she also needs to learn and grow independently. He knows her very well for sure and giving her that space. Actually it is nice to see. I think we need to be patient with the FL. She has been indoctrinated for too long. Moving out is the first step. It will take time but we will see it

It is true though that kids whose moms have an aggressive dominant personality
Like hers end up too soft and complacent with people pleasing personalities . They cannot say no and have a hard time building boundaries
