I finished my rewatch and it was so good. And yes I really loved the FL’s character. She was beautifully written and everything she did was to make sure that they did not lose each other especially after the trafficking incident (I wish they had explored that a little more - because that really damaged him big time) Chen Yi was really in a very dark place and he felt that his life was done. He was stagnating/rotting in that place - and a lot of it were his own choices. The saddest thing about Chen Yi Is that even though he gave everything up and gave everything to Miao Jing so she can have a better life, he had no one looking out for him. Even the cop and his wife worried more about Miao Jing rather than Chen Yi. So he was very close to slipping to the dark side. It was his own determination and conscience , who his dad was and Miao Jing that kept him on the right side. Miao Jing’s trauma was very obvious in how she craved for a home. She could not cope with the outside world and came back to the only semblance of home she had with Chen Yi however imperfect it was But she had to fight for it and make him understand how important they were to each other . After the second watch - I still did not mind the presence of Cen Ye because Miao Jing knew all along what her goal was and she never wavered. What she did was to make Chen Yi see that they were each other’s home and that he should not be destroying himself for her. To me this drama is still a 10/10 and the leads gave a stellar performance . SWL was at his best!
There is no ‘good toxic’ and that is why I said oxymoron. Anything toxic cannot be positive . And since that is not what I was implying it is not the same direction

I rewatched and yes the editing is watchable but there are places where scenes end abruptly and that whole Tu Li and Cen Ye meeting was one of those . Regardless - this was an excellent drama. Probably one of the best
Rewatching episode 15: the shards of mercury trying to come together in that bottle of water pretty much tells the story of their relationship. Together - yet not together . That was brilliant!

Well regardless I absolutely loved this drama. The best of 2026! I am rewatching and I am amazed how nuanced SWL’s acting is . He is conveying so much so subtly!

Yeah the continuity in the story is lost . And important pieces for context are missing too. It would have been great to see that side of Tu Li and people could have understood Cen Ye’s intentions more
