Fina Verdict: This drama is a masterpiece! Fantasies are the toughest genre that can satisfy an audience because it is very hard to make a story that resonates. They accomplished that here. This was such a uniquely crafted story - so beautiful! Even the last set of episodes were done very well - it did not fall off a cliff. I loved both the endings because they both work well for the story. Either way they both fought their destinies to be together . Ending aside. The journey this drama took us on was absolutely intense and amazing! These two leads are such powerful actors. Both brought their characters to life on screen and translated this story diligently for the audience. Their natural chemistry is something I enjoyed. This could be Chen Feiyu’s best after Lighter and Princess. Amazing performance. His character had a lot of depth and complexity. And his portrayal was seamless on screen . Duan Xu was not weak- it takes a lot of courage to live the way he did . He actually fell in love with a spirit and was slowly giving her his life little by little- which human being can even sacrifice themselves like that? His character had multiple facets . Dilraba of course was awesome as the Ghost Spirit Queen . He Simu was really formidable and that came across . She looked gorgeous throughout the drama and her acting ofcourse was fabulous. She gave us a solid performance! And having a powerful villain like Yan Ke made it even better . Miles Wei again slayed that role. The only other drama that evoked such strong emotions in me was Till the End of the Moon. I will put this one up there with that. I loved the melancholic undercurrent of this drama . The gothic feel (TTEOM had a similar feel) with darkness and death was beautiful and resonated with the dynamic of this story. This drama was really a class act from the script to acting to cinematography and OST. I am giving it a perfect 10! I will be rewatching this one .
Some people said they felt sad for that power hungry creep Yan Ke. He honest deserves the worst most painful death. His so called ‘love’ for He Simu was to destroy the Void and Mortal World and then own her as an accessory. That POS wanted to rule He Simu - nothing else matters to him. On ep 38- they really gave us this really despicable, powerful villain who is hard to destroy. I am actually loving this. A good fantasy needs this and the writers and Miles Wei have done an awesome job. So that immortal kept Feng Yi alive to save the mortal world by giving those soldiers the power to destroy the evil spirits. It all makes sense now. And this is why Duan Xu is who he is and why he has the sword. This is his destiny! These last episodes are so intense! They really want to rip the viewers apart!
Fang Xianye RIP: he remained DuanXu’s loyal friend to the end . That late emperor- I guess his brain was fried and paranoia kicked in big time - to give such a twisted edict. Duan Xu lost another person really close to him- probably his only dear friend/brother. I felt bad for the new emperor at the same time- he lost a trusted friend and a loyal confidante
Well ep 36 and 37 shows to what lengths those two pathetic monsters- the brainless LuDa and the creep Yan Ke would go to destroy the Void and the mortal world for their sick desire for power. He Simu was showing her muscle as the Ghost Sovereign. Dilraba has been absolutely breathtaking in these two episodes. Her emotions are on point. You can feel everything she is feeling! Duan Xu is fading - and Arthur Chen has portrayed this chararacteer’s helplessness, the longing and the frustration so beautifully- Again you can really feel all those emotions from him. These two lead actors have embodied their characters perfectly and have translated those emotions across the screen brilliantly! What a stellar performance ! That scene where He Simu poured out her true feelings for Duan Xu was so heartwrenching! Their inevitable deadlock still exist, with added complications!
I am done and sincerely I never expected this much from this drama which is why I have one question why the heck…
Yeah the ratings have honestly puzzled me. People have rated real trash dramas more than this. And when they try to give us something that good- even exceptional in this case - they don’t get rated well. To me - I am at ep 35 - this drama is at least a 9.5 and that will not change with the ending
He is a very versatile actor with lots of talent. And neither money nor nepotism has anything to do with it. His…
People are just not content with what they have this kind of complaint is just plain ridiculous. It’s just sad that people even have to feel guilty about their backgrounds in this day and age
And now I can really say people who hate Chen feiyu in the name that he is a nepo baby y'all need help y'all need…
He is a very versatile actor with lots of talent. And neither money nor nepotism has anything to do with it. His talent will take him far . Audiences don’t go watch actors because they come from a good home and he need not be shamed for being fortunate in life
I guess I can’t stop myself from commenting after all. Just putting a comment on top. Ep 35 is so emotional! So once Duan Xu got hit by that poisoned arrow he was almost done - his body is already weak from exchanging the senses and now this arrow. No wonder He Simu wanted to put a stop to the whole thing. She has always wanted him to live . Seriously that LuDa - after Duan Xu helped him! What a POS! She also felt Yan Ke’s meddling in that arrow
