Oguri Shun and Sato Takeru, I'm not surprised they're under almost every single genre, they've been my favs for over 10 years for a reason lol But oh my, so many years have gone by and I can't believe I started my Japanese drama journey back in middle school of '07. So many good dramas! Can't wait for the new ones!

I'll definitely have to rewatch some of these classics.

how come I never knew they made Hell Girl live action?! I was so immersed in anime back then I probably never thought to look up a drama version haha

hahaha true. honestly, I fall into this category because I really want writers to create strong female lead, with…
Oh I despise the I'm strong in the beginning female lead who then gives up everything for her male lead or just goes along with everything without making her own decisions, which ultimately makes her a weak character in the end. It has to be consistent to be realistic. There are mistakes but then there are just out right stupid decisions that could be avoided if they thought through it.

I think South Korean dramas mostly don't have steamy or actual kisses because for its older audience. Older audiences…
They didn't have steamy or actual kisses because of old customs and how it's viewed in their culture. It was not something you did in the open or expressed passionately. That's why it's great to see it now because there's nothing wrong with showing passionate love as long as it doesn't go over the top.

I was told Koreans don't openly express their affection. I'm living in Korea now and all I see is open expression of love with kisses on the streets. So it's definitely a change in view of their own culture and breaking free from old traditional culture.

I'm starting to see a pattern of a lot of people putting down strong female characters because they don't see them as 'their' definition of strong. Or have never had to understand certain hardships.

Women come in all shapes and forms, and are strong in all their OWN ways. It's not just about standing up for yourself, there's so much more to it than that. So when I see a multidimensional female I get so overjoyed ^^

And also in real life, when these women are being portrayed realistically, women aren't out here to please everyone. We make stupid mistakes and at times deserve to be forgiven too..just like the horrible male leads in almost everything -_-

That’s why Secret Romance was so different!
Unfortunately, for me, the cliche moments overtook how great the story could have been. But it was a great portrayal of how adult romances could and should be ^^

I really appreciate the newer direction dramas are improving on. I go back sometimes and wonder why I liked such cliche, low self esteem dramas about women back then. It was pretty demeaning and hard to watch again after so many years. It was so hard to come by, if at all, a drama about any woman who could speak up for herself and lead her own life without being called the B word.

There are so many of them now and I'm overjoyed by it!
I also really enjoy having a second pairings done right. They don't take over the drama but keep it moving as you look forward to their scenes as well.

The kisses, oh the kisses. I always knew they would come by episode 6 but they were either always really bad or just light pecks. I was waiting for Korea to understand, these are grown adults in your shows a majority of the time. I get not living until marriage, old customs and all, but who doesn't kiss after dating for months on end...like what? LOL so I also appreciate the new kisses, like REAL kisses, and the fact these adults have needs and wants that get clearly satisfied now LOL XD

They tried and I can’t say the movie is bad cause it isn’t but a 2h movie cannot do this story justice. As…
Completely agree with you. I could not feel any of the emotions, other than Yuu near the end, that I felt watching the anime multiple times.

Title My Queen
Can someone tell me why the original episode count is 21 but when I watched it, it was 34 episodes long on Netflix? I'm so confused lol

These are exactly all the reasons I can't stand love triangles. Then I'm targeted when I say I don't like certain dramas or I skip them because they have love triangles...they seriously ruin the show for me.

uh so I'm just gonna throw out there that not everyone shares the same experience. Some people, like myself, do…
I do agree and understand your other position, but these shows are based off of monogamy. If there was any instance where they hinted that everyone would be happy being together all as one or dating others, some people would probably understand. But in reality you do have to choose, and that's where things get frustrating. It is wrong to string someone along and then not choose them in the end. Having feelings for two people where they both are expecting a monogamous relationship from you can get really messy.

Well written article, Another drama which I felt that dragged on the falling part was 'Whats Wrong with Secretary…
I completely agree. The ending took its sweet time and made me want to skip through the last episode.
