Hasn't got a page yet but this kept didi one Title: Hiding a pride in a golden cage/Sugar Mamma and her kept man Chinese title: 金屋藏骄 FL: Deng Ling stars as Cui Yuntan ML: Wu Tian Hao as Zhou Xi/Shen Yan
My least favourite version of this storyline so far (Hong Luan Yin still tops). FL seemed less strategic and more impulsive (doesn't burn the carriage just takes advantage after seeing signs it might combust), less in command and more sulky- less flirtatious and more trying to make the General jealous/regret. More a starter aquarium than a reverse harem. There was no Pei Xuan Prime Minister beyond a passing profile shot and mention of tea. The hot tempered childhood friend was good in this though, and it was cute that she made the collar herself for her didi (with gems General gave her so yet more slaps to his face). Worst ending so far-yawn.
Leaky blue umbrella? I only saw a rucksack full of bricks?. This had more depth than just a racy affair, revenge or smitten didi come to repay his debt of gratitude- more than just visuals. There were consequences for wielding a double edged sword and I enjoyed both of them exploring all this. I even teared up a little. Also enjoyed the 2ML and ML's assistant (especially when having a cake moment: his grin was infectious).
This was a mess and I angry watched it to the end. Disappointed that none of the tensions and fun suggested by the premise were even slightly delivered on. It didn't know if it wanted to be toxic obsessive or sweet healing devotion so there just wasn't enough of either imho- just a puppy-eyed cowardly brat and a capricious flirtatious brat with a good kick/motorbike dismount.
Glaring continuity errors with her wound and wearing the same outfit in front of ML in both identities. I try to turn off logic for VSD but can't ignore nonsense of ML ending up in a hospital PJs in bed for an already treated tiny graze on his lip whereas more bruised 2nd brother is fine.
FL was annoying af - and whined a lot more than I expected from her wild era- but at least they gave her background context for being a dick. ML doesn't have any excuses. Apparently his dickishness is because she drove him crazy with love. FTS.
ML has no boundaries with any of the women around him, only allowing them free reign then reacting with ambiguous violence and no consequences, which she witnesses first hand yet he expects FL to believe his sincerity and trust him. She never makes any such hypocritical demands of him. He sleeps with his wife and tells her whilst still in bed with her that he has fallen for someone else- isn't he honourably honest?!. But retreats all hurt when she says she slept with him for fun. At least he was fully clothed when she said it and not rejected straight after dtd.
He learns about her childhood trauma but chokes her anyway and doesn't self reflect on why she might have proceeded with the matchmaking. Instead, only more violence, throwing himself into humiliating situation by trying a public emotional blackmail, then blaming, freezing and hurting her when it inevitably fails . Should have tried this sudden show of pride with his "childhood friend".
In the end, he tries to "heal her" by using a few gifts and photos to prove that her abusive father loved her. Not only gaslighting and manipulating unconditional forgiveness for abusers but also feels like piggybacking on the emotional can of worms for his own agenda.
I don't buy that a person growing up with that representation of "bipolar" would accept these messy push and pull behaviours from him nor that any of his "romance" gave her enough security to drop her defensive wildness or made her feel worthy of love.
The only thing I liked was when they weren't talking to each other but still each beat up the sleazy businessman in defence of the other and heedless of the cost of losing the deal.

The one ending gb5O0 (4th link) has slightly better subs than IxVQ (1st link). The middle links are either gone or behind a paywall.
Loved this review so I just watched it and thoroughly agree with all points. My eyes have no regrets but my brain is still trying to make it make more sense.

I really enjoyed this, thanks for this post: your description of logical intrigued me and I kinda agree. The only thing that slightly bothers me is that no-one clocked that his hair had suddenly grown so much seemingly overnight.
No-one has written anything yet so I will, because I'm bored. I found it pretty mid with some good moments.
FL is a film ?producer? who transmigrates into the script set in a border military camp, somehow turning the MC General into a woman and attracting the suspicion of the Deputy General ML.
She doesn't suddenly inherit the original General's fighting prowess but she's undaunted, smart, resourceful, a quick learner, decisive negotiator and apparently also farmer and douser.
The tone is kinda silly comedy which didn't meet my mood so I mostly watched x2 speed but there was the odd actual laugh regardless.
I was hoping for more tension but felt like this was more about her flexing producer and self-sufficiency skills in historical context than hidden identity/forbidden love/female general badassery.
His kisses were pretty good though; he can put tender hunger in fairly puppy-esque eyes quite convincingly. Hers not so much- like she was directed to just grimace for some surface area to show off his jaw work.
This drama had the stupid Grin And Spin moment over a simple occurrence (you know, petals, snow, rain, fireworks, cakes, pretty view: "so beautiful I have to twirl so you watch me and not the scenery" :eyeroll: ) that says Yes I Can Flare My Skirts So Now You Are In Love With Me and I'm there like "girl, respect the Desert ffs!".
He was pretty cute with his persistent need to keep the sun off her that bewildered even himself. My fave scene was when her act of making wine to deal with a salt crisis conspiracy (reasons) drives him into clingy mode and she's impatiently shrugging him off with "stop making all the alcohol evaporate". He realises sweat glistening on his collarbone is too subtle to compete with her work focus and douses himself with water instead to sledgehammer the point home. I'm like "boy, respect the Desert ffs!".
Not the best romance but quite a good vent on abusive directors and exploitative filming conditions. I did like all her workers rights advocacy and "different context, same stench" when all her achievements were ignored only for a man to take all the credit.
ENDING SPOILER:
Open ending leaning sad but conducted by an amusing dancing fairy.
Her wife and the ML mourn as she returns to her world via poison.
It's more like "oh, we actually got the actor who formerly had scheduling issues, win for the project" than "reunited, my beloved" but the girl has backbone and nous, I'm sure she can bring home both the film and the idol.
