The is the best DRAMA ever, it totally beats Bridal Mask, Secret Garden, Signal, Boys over Flowers, City Hunter,…
Hi, sorry for my late answer, I just got back from my trip to KSA.
I went for vacation and Umrah. It was a great spiritual trip.

Your mom is not American? wow that's cool. What about your dad? I love when people have different backgrounds and represent more than one culture. It's seems very interesting and rewarding.

I fully understand how hard is it to learn Mandarin, I tried to learn Japanese few years ago and it was the exact same problem for me. It got more complicated when I found out I need to learn 3 different sort of "alphabet" and one of them is Chinese. That means every word can have 3 different transcriptions and the worse is that Japanese use all the three in the same sentence because depending on the word it is more common to use this or that alphabet... In short, a real galley! It made me run as fast as I can haha. But as crazy as it sounds, I still hope one day I'll be able to learn Japanese and speak it fluently.

They didn't kiss? really? Yeah cool! haha I'm just kidding, I don't know, this Tokyo Bandwagon seems bland even for me. Family drama are not my fav, some are good some others are really boring. The only thing that got my attention is the word "mystery" but if you can put it on hold, where is no mystery in it, lol. This reminds me of "white Christmas" it supposed to be mysterious and psychological but for me it was a boring nightmare. I download it before going on a trip with no internet, once I got there I was stuck with it with nothing else to watch, so I forced my self to finish it... bad memories haha.

I'm not watching any drama for now, I'm looking forward to watch Tunnel and Whisper but they are still airing and I'm not the type of person who watch currently airing drama, I need to marathon the whole thing in 3 days. I'll check my PTW list to pick something to watch for now.

Since the only show I have seen from the list is Strong women Do bong Soon, I agree with your rating. I would rather say there is no bromance at all. The only thing that link this two is their love to the girl and her love for them. They are practically enemies till the end.
I gotta say I was expecting a real bromance from the show but it seems like it's the first "realistic" show about love triangle. I never understand triangles with cool friendship between the two guys. I mean I like bromance but only if it's without stupid love triangles.

I don't know, I think Japanese is cute. Some Korean sounds really get on my nerve. Wae sounds like a country boy trying to say "Why". Specially that Koreans' English accent sounds terrible on TV. I have this weird habit of saying "Hay!" for Yes and "Anyeo" for No, my parents who have no idea about what I'm watching, now understand perfectly what I mean when I say it lol. I also say things like Arigato unconsciously when I'm really happy with what I received. And when I'm pissed I say Ah chincha! When I don't know something I say "No lo sé"... And each time I use a foreign words beside French or English with a member of my family, they have this "O.K. we already know she's crazy" look, I guess I'm a weirdo haha.

I think I get the submission thing. I heard something similar in from 5 to 9. There is a girl who read some creepy manga on the drama, something called Boys Love and she talked about this dom/sub relationship. anyway, thank you for the information. Of course, there is no way I would watch or read this stuff.

I'm going to KSA, (Medina, Mecca and then Jeddah). Holidays are already over? Are you going back to work next week?

My language learning depends basically on the sound of a language, some are very poetic but some others sound too weird. For example, Mandarin and German are the last thing I would think of learning lol.

Thank you, that's nice and encouraging.
I love languages, I want to learn as much as I can, specially Spanish and Japanese. As I mentioned before, I didn't like Korean when I first heard it but now I think it's a fantastic language that I would be honored to learn someday. Visiting Japan and South Korea is one of my dream. The trip is very expensive as eastern Asia is very far from here. I hope you will enjoy your vacation there, I'm happy for you :)
You made me laugh about SLS, it does bother me when a guy (or worse a girl) keep insisting while he (or she) is unwanted but sometimes the lead has no charm and the second lead is more attractive, because honestly when I love an actor I might watch some of him drama even if I don't care much about the story line, I just wanna watch him on screen haha so I bared some romantic drama only because of the actor but my poor oppa happens to be a SL, and sometimes I can't seem to connect to the other new guy so, I can't help it but being sad. Of course it doesn't happen all the time. By the way, my problem is not that the SL doesn't get the girl, I don't like triangles, it's only that he's not on screen all the time. I prefer when there is an additional couple in the drama and weirdly they always seem to have much more chemistry than the leads to me. And I don't know if it's made to seem more realistic or if it's just that the writer is stupid, he seems to allow the leads to be together but separate the other two. So unfair lol.
I know what submission means, I'm just not sure about this context. Does it have something to do with abusive men? When I googled it all I got are some biblical phrases about Paul and Ephesians. I have no idea how they are so I'm more confused now haha.
I would like to watch When a Snail .. but I'm going abroad next week so I'm not sure if I'll be able to finish it before, because 21 episodes are a bit too much especially that I need to take my time to get used to the language. When I don't understand what I'm hearing at all, I feel too dumb and I get angry haha.
Welcome to Morocco anytime my dear.

Oh you have no idea how I hate it. I don't know what's wrong with the computers these days.
Your drama story is fascinating. I didn't know festivals can be that instructive.
I remember gooddrama.net, I used to watch dramas on it after Dramacrazy.net was down. When I became hooked to dramaland in 2014 and spend all days watching dramas I discovered Viki.com where I can watch drama with any languages subs so I start to watch it in vostfr (French subs) because let's face it, my English is terrible x). By the way, I'm so sorry for making so many mistakes. When I read your reply I was like OMG, she's American, she must have been so annoyed with my awful communication level.
I speak Arabic and French, English is my third language and as I'm learning Spanish, my English is not evolving any soon. :p
Is Jung Woo Sung the guy in Athena? If it's the same man, He's good, he did really great on that show. I heard of Padam and automn concerto but never thought of watching any of the two. Lucky you, if SLS was a real disease I would live in a hospital. haha
I don't know indeed what a submission theme refers to, but I guess nothing good lol. I checked Sealed With A Kiss synopsis and it sounds like a telenovela which I hate of course.
I totally agree with you, it's so hard to find an interesting drama that sometimes you just want to drop it all.
We don't celebrate Easter, every time I hear about it I picture chocolate, eggs and a pink rabbit haha I have no idea what it is about. You should have come over here, the weather is beautiful and sunny, it's encouraging to hike or walk around.

I experienced all of the three.

1/ Even if I split them into categories, I'm still confused which one rocks in each category. Too many goes in the Cute baby faced guy, too many in the charismatic bad boy look, and some others in the handsome psychopath killer, yeah I love psychopaths x)
2/ W- two worlds is the best example for me, I like complicated plots but this one made absolutely no sense to me. I like all the actors and they surely did a good job but the story line was too ridiculous. I didn't expect it to be over-rated and win prizes.
3/ I have about 100 dramas in my Plan to watch list and some I'm eager to watch but every time I finish a drama I spend about 3 hours looking for what to watch next and most of the times I pick something I never heard of before x)

Thanks for the article, good job!

I think my first drama was in 2009, it was Ryusei no Kizuna. At that time I didn't like TV shows and watch only western and local movies or Japanese animes. I remember my brother gave me a DVD of a Japanese historical movie that I loved very much but I don't remember it's title. I've been looking for it for a long time but I couldn't find it. The movie was the reason I accepted when my best friend asked me to watch Ryusei. It was different, weird, had many flaws but It was watchable and I enjoyed it. My J-drama journey started in 2009. I was a busy student so I didn't watch it regularly though. Then, One day in 2012 I discovered that one of my friends was a K-drama fan. I have never heard of K-drama before then, she told me about this "great school drama" so I tried it, it was Boys over Flowers, I think it took me about a month to finish it lol. School, kids, romance, childish behaviors and above all Korean! It was too weird and so not my cup of tea. I hated how Korean sounds. Few months later this same friend recommended to me "City Hunter" saying it's an action drama you will like it this time etc. So I tried again (because I'm open-minded and flexible haha, I'm kidding, again, hein :p). The action was overdone, every time I see Park min young I want to shot her but it was O.K. It made me think that At least Korean invest more money in dramas than Japanese does. Production seems almost as good as American productions. You're in Movie industry so I'm sure you noticed. So I started watching things based on my own researches, I watched Iljimae, TBD&W, IRIS ... I do breaks when I'm bored, sometimes for few weeks and sometimes for over 6 months. I started Western tv shows in 2012 too, few months after I was tired of Asian, because I wanted to watch something new. I watched some teen's shows based on recom like Vampire diaries, Supernatural, Arrow etc. Then crime series cause it's my fav, Mentalist, White collar, NCIS... I switch between Western and Asian shows every time I'm bored, sometimes I don't watch anything at all so I read or take Spanish classes... and every time I didn't feel like watching a complicated plot and I just want to relax I watch romcoms because I want to experience something new, or because of availability, actors or friend's recom. I've watched romcoms and supernatural K-drama starting 2014, in that year, I gotta say, I did watch anything and everything because I took a sabbatical.
I can't explain why I didn't like him, I just didn't. I mean I only met him in the first 20 min of Chaser and I couldn't stand it. Maybe I was too young back then haha.
It's so natural to be more picky as we grow old. There are so many things I wouldn't have watched if I had the same mentality as the one I have now. We gain in maturity each day.
By the way what kind of movies are you working on? Would you mind if I ask where are you from unnie ? :p Happy Easter !

I might watch PB when all episodes are aired too, maybe not as soon as it's aired. I'll think about it later, but yeah, S1 is the best season indeed.
I've been watching some western series and then I started to drop them one after another because at some point I get bored. That's why I enjoy more Asian drama. Western tv shows are better produced but are too long. I'm not the kind of person who will follow a show for 10 years.
I'm sure we are talking about the same Soo Hyun Joo, I didn't know his name I just copied from Golden Empire's page. The first time I saw him was in Chaser but I barely watched 20 min of the first episode, I couldn't stand the man so I switched to another drama. I like everything about Golden Empire but the actor. So I'll give it a try anyway.

Hi, sorry for my late answer. I sent a long text yesterday and then I realized the connection cut and I got a bit angry so I didn't want to write it all over again.
The way you described it, I'm sure I wouldn't like the original version of Fated, so I'm happy I didn't try. You mentioned Lovers so many times that I want to put it on my PTW list.
If someday I thought about C-drama again, I'll definitely ask you for a recommendation, thank you :)
Funny how my answer is shorter than the one I wrote yesterday, guess I forgot a couple of things. I'm a Goldfish x)

I don't mind when romance is there either, I'm just not specially happy because it's there. I don't care about it that's why it's hard for me to watch something with nothing but romance. So I understand perfectly your view. I don't like Son Hyun Joo but the "zero romance" is appealing haha, I will definitely give it a try. For me zero romance means a serious and mature plot. No 10 min of why did you smile to the delivery boy silly fights who will end up with a kiss or a hug anyway.
Gangster/crime is also interesting, I'll add lovers to my PTW list.
I love Prison Break too, but I'm not sure about the new season, I'm not considering it for now. I don't like stuff like Game of Thrones and Vikings and all this old unreal kingdoms or savage people turning into heroes. I don't know Spartacus but it seems historical too. Crime & Thrillers with a side order of romance, yeah that's a perfect combination indeed.
Stay away from people you don't like, it's more healthy that way haha.
Heavenly Forest, Noriko Goes To Seoul, Nineteen, Unforgettable, Train to Busan, My Annoying Brother

Haha no, absolutely no because you don't enjoy noona romance. I meant to say that even if I don't like romance, I watch it as you noticed if the story is very great. I don't like sex scenes but it doesn't stop me from watching a great show. Its like a necessary evil haha. So what I mean by being flexible is that if I wasn't opened about all genders, I wouldn't bother watching something with "Cinderella" as a title. I can watch a drama of any gender if you recommend it even if it's not my favorite. When I say I don't like romance or intimacy, I mean I don't judge a drama based on this things. I did love Fated to Love, it's not perfect as they are many flaws but I liked the comedy and also the tragic parts. I like Jang Hyuk but I hated the way he laughed and the childish interactions as you called it. I liked the story though. If it was a novel I would have read it and I think I would have enjoyed it more. I know this version is just a remake. I don't know how close it is to the original but if it's very similar then all the credit goes to the original one, because, what I liked is not the acting but the story line.
The C-drama I dropped after 4 episodes is : The Starry Night, The Starry Sea.
I know exactly how I was born, I studied medicine, thank you x).
Ah, and I'm Moroccan by the way.

I don't watch C-drama, I recently wanted to try and the most popular seemed to be Starry night, starry sea, or something like that. I've watched 4 episodes with many breaks, I couldn't get used to the Mandarin and the show is too slow for my taste so I dropped it and dropped the idea of watching C-drama.
The problem with CC is it's seems like the writer didn't know what to do at some point. It's like he wrote an 11 episodes good drama and then realized he needs to make 20, so he added one or two obscene romantic scenes and thought he gave us a love story. Then he started with the everyone is a cop thing and ruined almost 50% of the main plot, just to make more episodes.
I don't like noona romances either, I don't like romance, I hate drama with too much bed scenes and I don't like classical Cinderella kind of story. I keep wondering why I did watch this drama. Something about the show kept me interested though. I don't remember exactly what was it but I remember the actors did a great job. What's interesting about J-drama is that they feel so real, unlike Care Bears K-drama love stories. I personally don't mind watching things that are far from my cup of tea as long as they are really great, great enough to impress an outsider like me haha. I'm open-minded and flexible lol.

It's true that it's hard to imagine IRIS or TBD&W without love story. It sure made things interesting. However it's doesn't make the other shows less good. By the way, I think Voice is better than Signal. I have to say that before watching Voice, from what I read I didn't expected much but I was surprised by the show. Signal is really good but I had this weird feeling like something was missing from the beginning to the end.
Now that you mention it, she may seem pretentious indeed specially in Secret Garden and Empress Ki I guess as she's an Empress. I don't watch Asian movies in general, I rarely like some Asian movie, it's usually all about sex and violence with no serious plot. Feels to me like watching random scenes put together lol. Anyway in K2H she plays a female North Korean soldier. She's physically strong but she's very kind and innocent.

About the P.S.
It seems like he always play a haughty guy, it's kinda boring. There is no way I would watch another drama with him in it. I prefer mature actors who show us different sides of them and different kind of characters.

Bad Guys is the kind of investigation style drama that reminds you how ugly our world is and how crazy some people can get. I like it very much so far. The actors are really good and true, even if I expect Park hae jin's character to get better and the female lead is as useless as usual. I hope one day Asians will understand that a woman is more than a loving heart and a beautiful body. If you like this gender as much as I do, I would recommend Voice and Signal, but both with no love story sorry lol. If you want something with romance, I would recommend IRIS and Athena.
Why do you hate Ha Ji Won? She's one of my favorite actress lol. I'm not specially fan of Lee Seul Ki either. But he's character evolves is a great way in K2H.
I woudn't recommend my GF is Gumiho. I was forced to watch it by my best friend, literally forced. It's a silly none-sense drama and a very childish kind of romance that you wouldn't like.
Madame Antoine was absolutely crappy, I guess I should've asked you before starting haha

Don't get me wrong, I didn't hate DK I just didn't like the idea of loving someone out of pity. I didn't like the way he ruined someone's life but it was OK. What I couldn't stand at all was desperate, shameless, without self-esteem OHY. Specially after the strong woman show she gave us at the two first episodes. I was very disappointed. But I don't blame the actor, I blame the script writer.
I don't know about you but I'm 27. I like old actors too like Jang Hyuk and the legendary Lee Byung Hun. I give young guys a shot too though.
You're right, I watched a lot, mainly because it's hard to avoid romance while watching any gender of Asian dramas. My favorite gender are action, thriller but I also like comedy and supernatural. It's even more interesting when there is a little of everything. I rarely watch a pure romantic drama or melo, this is also one of the reasons that made another miss oh boring. No one is trying to kill the poor OHY, she's not trying to arrest a powerful corrupted deputy who's running for presidency, nor the dangerous serial killer who killed her parents, she can't see ghost, she's not falling in love with a vampire and she's not even funny so. I'm crazy, I know x)
Time between D&W is a perfect drama, so is IRIS trilogy (I1, Athena and I2). Cruel city's romantic part was weird though. It felt both fast and incomplete to me. Most of the time I even forget there was a romance there, just about 5 min of intimacy in some episode I had to skip and then all clear, action and guns everywhere, happy me x)
If you like couples who get intimate try Last Cinderella. Maybe you will like it. This is the gender I dislike the most, nothing but romance, yet I enjoyed it somehow.
By the way I have a tendency of over-rating dramas. I saw your points legend on your profil. For me it's like 10 is perfect, 9 is good 8 is watchable, 7/6 poor as I regret even watching it haha. less than this is a disaster, if I didn't know I don't drink I would've said the only reason I started it is I was drunk. x). The only drama I really liked are the one with 9+ rate. sometimes I give an 8 or 8.5 just because I'm in a good mood knowing it deserves less.

If you didn't mention it I don't think I would even hear of it. And from what I read there is no way I would think of watching something as poor as a submitted man's story. Don't worry.
Shin Se Gi is of course my favorite too ♥ I guess we'll have this fight after all haha. I'm currently watching the drama Bad Guys, these are the real F4 for me lol, what a great pleasure.
Thank you very much for the list, I'll definitely put all these dramas on my plan to watch list and enjoy watching them one after the other, or at least that's what I hope for. By the way, Have you watched King 2 Hearts? It's one of my favorite.
I thought about the worst main male lead for me and it has to be Sung joon (I'm sure you guessed haha) in Madame Antoine.

If Eric plays a bad boy in Que sera sera and if it's a good drama I might give it a try. I looove bad boys haha. In fact most of my favorite actors play bad boys roles. Like Lee joon ki, Kim woo bin, Park hae jin etc. I checked your drama list, we don't have much watched dramas in common so yes, there is no way we're fighting for a same guy, we don't even follow the same actors haha.
I understand, some actors have a low rate of activities so they don't give us a lot of choices of dramas.
About Sung Joon, I probably didn't notice before I don't care much about romance and kisses. I enjoy more dramas with zero romance lol. I've watched Flower boy band, White Christmas, Hyde Jekyll me and even a few episodes of Madame Antoine (a poor drama like this one or rather a bit worse). So as you can see I did give this Sung Joon guy a try. I had to bare his psychotic face 4 times lol, yet it happens to get on my nerves every time. Rather than the charisma of a bad boy, he has this haughty, arrogant, spoiled boy look. No matter what character he plays, he always give the impression of someone who think he's the smartest guy of the room and the worst of all is that he makes is so obvious that he's acting.
