That other response isnโt accurate. She actually spends a lot of time with the SML, sharing drinks with him,…
Emotionally affected by the SML ๐๐๐ Desires๐๐ What century are you living in if you think any of those scenes show that the FL is interested in the SML.or desires him. Get out of the stone ages. They are all extremely normal male female interactions. And every emotion on He Yan's face in ep14 is about how she was mistreated by her family. Its pain and sadness and has literally nothing to do with desire. ๐๐

Did you only watch some scenes and not others?? Because she explicitly thinks that she is going to get information from Chu Zhao. I think you are the one who has been living in stone ages and expect FLs to be all shy and closed off to all men except the ML and very clearly your mindset has biased your opinions. You are literally the only person here saying that the FL was even remotely intererested in the SML. Lol ๐๐

That person has not understood the show at all. The SML has no presence between the leads. He is like one sided delusional lover and gets no time of the day from the FL. Remember that she has been acting as a man half her life so ofcourse she is not shy or coy infront of men like other FLs. Here the FL even calls out the SML's misogyny.
people are disappointed and rightfully so. Lotfg is lacking in so many areas lolThe romance is meh at best. If…
Also wanted to mention even the action sequences are quite romantic. They have been choreographed as duets and are really really well done and also short. None of them are dragged more than half an episode. Rest is mostly really beautiful interaction between the leads. I would suggest you can check out the episode discussion on Reddit. You will find enough gifs that you can see whether its the kind of romance you like.
Don't listen to reviews.. The series is good, it's just that the show has a lot of haters.
Ofcourse every review is not but there is enough similar worded comments and reviews and comparison with the same 3 shows going on that makes it pretty obvious that this shows is being targetted. Let's not even mention the Bullied FL tag because that is absolute nonsense and yet an off putting tag like that got added. So yess there is definitely something fishy happening here
As someone who grow up loving the story of Mu Lan, and watching any drama that hinted at it, I was very excited…
When she comes back as herself she is no longer making the same effort to hide her identity as she did before. The show made this point really obvious. Also they explained how the switch was not caught. Maybe you just did not pay enough attention.

I don't know what the person above considers as romance but the romance in the show is really good. Its heartfelt and sweet and the leads have extremely good chemistry. even in many negative reviews the chemistry has been appreciated. I would suggest you try a few episodes and check it for yourself

Go watch timestamp 10:56 of episode 14. She is using the drink to ask questions about He Ru Fei. And yes she gets too drunk not because she has "interest" in Chu Zhao but because she remembers how she was mistreated by her father and the pain makes her drink too much. Go watch timestamp 15:31. They literally show her chilhdood trauma. Had nothing to do with Chu Zhao. Maybe you should first watch the show properly
Do you know what nuance means??? Because what you just described is not a nuanced scene, its outright spelling things out. How the show conveyed it through little things that is what nuance is- subtlety. What you described is the opposite of nuance - its in your face. You are literally invalidating your own point
The first time she wears it she does it just to protect herself without thought. And if you did not understand how her trying to seek approval of her appearance when she dresses up for Jiyang was a depiction of her insecurity then again you prove my point. Oh and they also show that hesitation in ep 30 when she has to finally shed her men's attire. So yeah clearly nuance is lost on you.

No I did not. I have just rewatched it. And umm what first half?? The FL does not even interact with the SML till ep 10. (As a woman) And did you not notice how uncomfortable his comments in ep 10 made her and how she immediately left with Xiao Jue or did you just not see that at all? Lol ๐๐
Like I said, metaphorical depth and nuance is clearly lost on you. Because we actually do see her overcome all of this. But the entire found family that literally highlight in ep 33, her reclaiming herself as a woman were all very clearly shown. But yeah I cannot explain a show to you if it goes over your head
Well clearly you either watched a different ep17 or you fail to understand metaphors and symbolism. From looking at her dough figurine as a woman, to questioning her many masks, to being worried about everyone forgetting her name, to basically crying out that no one has ever chosen her for herself, each moment is a very poignant description of her identity crisis. The way she looks at the Princess with her daughter clearly showed how lonely she was. This is just 2 episodes. I could write a description for every episode. But I do not think there would be any point in spending that effort on you because its clear that you prefer everything to be spelt out or I guess metaphors go over your head
Honestly the comparison with POB don't even make sense and let's be honest we all know why it has a 8.9 rating.…
Ohh well you might not know but there have been some commemts comparinh the two shows previously with people putting down this one and hyping the other. Which is why I mentioned this point
I am actually thinking of writing a commrnt about depth that they probably did not grasp the depth because it was not spelt out but shown in metaphors. Ep17 in itself has more deep moments than some entire shows. ๐
