True. They literally should have dubbed Song Yi. Her voice is not at all authoritative. And the bow was just ridiculous. Made me scream 😂. The only attraction of Shadow Love is Cheng Lei and the romantasy tropes are done really well. The romance is mid. I only found sparks between the leads in the last few episodes.

Same. I need sparks even if the kisses might be fewer in number. LOTFG is sparks galore. The chemistry is fabulous

I get it. A very big reason I could enjoy shows like A drean within a dream or The Princess Royal was because of how annoying the SML are.

It is one of the highest viewed series. Its still in top 5 on TV. And it has around 1.2 billion views. Now its also on Netflix in some countries amd I know it in top 5 in Netflix Singapore. The viewership numbers are not exagerrated

Shadow love has more kisses yes. But barely any sparks between the leads except the last few episodes. Cheng Lei is the attraction for that show. The slow burn romance and chemistry between both leads is exceptionally better in LOTFG

The FL in shadow love uses a bow for close combat and you are talking about how fight scenes in LOTFG are casual 😂😂. SHE USES A BOW IN CLOSE COMBAT. that is enough to tell you that the fights are not the hook for Shadow Love.

Its romantasy. That genre does not appeal to a wider audience. Also the two shows are literally poles apart. What is even the point of comparing.

Well honestly every show usually has a SML interested in the FL or vice versa. I think shows without a SML or SFL are rare to almost none. But in this show the FL has only platonic interactions with the SML. And like I said his only dumb scheme to separate the leads backfires quite epically 😅

I see that you like kdramas and considerimg your list and the shows you have rated highly, you should have no problem with the SML in this show. But yeah upto you.

Point 1) she was with Xiao Jue when they were early teens. They never fought in the same army. He Yan left school for the army at 15 and met Xiao Jue directly when they were adults. There is a certain thing called puberty so when the mask comes off there is no reason for Xiao Jue to suspect that He Yan grew up. At Mingshui Xiao Jue was holding his dead father, surrounded by his dead friends. Do you really think he was noticing He Yan's voice or height? Then they meet at court when the switch has happened.
Pont 2) And Like I said in her first time it was a life/death matter for He Yan to protect her identity. This time around she is not taking the same serious precautions. Earlier she had no friends no close ones. This time she is making bonds. Ofcourse she will get discovered easily because she is closer to so many people while last time she isolated herself. She mentions all this in the show

Whatever your personal preferences, you seriously cannot be calling out He Yan's voice baby voice and then mentioning LLTG. LLTG is a great show, one of my favs but come on Zhao Lusi literally has the babiest voice. 😂😂I struggled to get past her baby voice and dropped LLTG twice before finally binging it after somehow getting used to her voice. He Yan sounds much much more mature than Zhao Lusi in LLTG

Xiao Jue never fought alongside He Yan disguised as He RuFei. They were never even in the same army. Xiao Jue was in the Xiao Army. He Yan was in the Fuyue army. They protected different borders. He Yan dropped out of school and joined the army at 15. And after that she only met Xiao Jue years later directly at Mingshui. Xiao Jue was literally holding his dad's dead body and was surrounded by his dead friends, do you really think he had the capacity to notice her height or tone of voice at that time???
After that day they directly meet in court and by that time the switch has already happened.

No SFL and the SML is a passive one sided delulu lover. yes he does interfere but only in the last 2 episodes. However, the leads still stay together and barely separate for 20 mins.

I think your review was very well written. It highlighted your own preferences even if I do disagree with it but yeah the issue is that there are so many rinse repeat negative reviews that it is frustrating positive reviewers and confusing new watchers

Yes it was so sad that she had no one except her mom and even she could never love He Yan completely. But I think the found family that He Yan gets - her squad, Xiao Jue's family, TaoTao, Lisu they make up for that

Agreed like I said every person has a different perspective on romance. You offered your perspective. So I am free to give an opposite view right. And I also did tell her to make up her own mind after a viewing a few episodes. I think the romance is absolutely top tier and clearly so do alot of others. Its fair to show her both perspectives

This is literally one show which everyone will tell you does not even have an inkling of a love triangle. Like the SML is not even an option. For the FL, its always the ML.
I don't know how this vincenzo person views male - female interactions but its clearly not with a progressive mindset. If you enjoy uncomplicated romances, you will love this show. Its low angst and literally no one can keep the leads apart.
