Thank you! Yes I noticed a lot of people kept saying the low reviews were because of the ships and love triangle,…
crazy, i never even bothered looking at TKEM's page bcs I didn't even have anything to say XD that's how bad it was for me.

As bad as start-up may be, you got to admit it still managed to at least be a show that's buzz-worthy. Whereas TKEM was... confusing...and forgettable

Yeah, it was nice discussing the show with you as well. And yeah, I will respect your opinion, as in any Kdrama,…
yeah, i personally rated them about a 3/5- one is too much haha. agreed.

also, was wondering what's your take on itaewon class? I think it suffered a similar treatment as start up as well. As in the first few episodes established the characters well and the plot of underdogs starting up a new business intrigued many. but i think in the second half the characters became more and more 2D as well. But i still find Start Up more enjoyable than Itaewon Class bcs the characters here hit closer to home than Itaewon Class :') (as in they're more likable haha)

I enjoyed this review, but I have differing opinions from you. I really think this is a matter of interpretation of the show. I would still rate it about a 8 though, for reasons which I would disclose in my full-length review XD
Don’t wanna bombard you here.

Nice meeting you though ~ I really appreciate how you’re not just angrily ranting like...some other reviews who rate this show with a 1.0?? That’s so unfair. 1.0 belongs to shit shows like TKEM LOL

I understand how TKEM sucks, but start up is different. It may be immature and a lot of times problematic, but at least it’s not completely dumb and of no value like TKEM.

And sadly Start Up’s rating is the same as TKEM’s now. I’m appalled. I enjoyed Start Up so much more than TKEM

Hey guys... just as a friendly reminder... irregardless of your frustration or disappointment to the show PLS PLS be mindful of your word choice in your comment.

Don’t call someone tasteless/immature/retarded just bcs they liked a character you didn’t like. There is something called preference. I can vouch for them that none of the characters in the show was an adulterer or a murderer so pls just let us like who we wanna like.

Don’t shame the actual actors pls. Please respect the actors at least. If you hate the character, cool, but that doesn’t mean it’s the actor’s fault k. They really did try their hardest, give credit where credit is due. Please stop being delusional and have a healthy separation between kdrama world and reality.

Ok bye just wanna keep MDL healthy and wholesome uwu

I'm reading through the reviews with high ratings (9+) and they're all saying team dosan... obviously they only…
And it’s also a coincidence that everyone who’s complaining about this show is HJP fans?

Not everyone here is that superficial yo, there’s something called preference.

I was team Do San at first but slowly the arguments just became absurd. DalMi never even saw JiPyeong as a love interest, they were just playing up the love triangle cos The writers thought that that was the only way to increase airtime and prominence for HJP’s character?.?

It would’ve been so much better if they were all just friends lol. Like ep 1-4
The dramas between SST and HJP and NDS is Sooooo unnecessary

I still don't think it's worth the hate it's getting though. It's disappointing but it's not trash

Sailing Without a Map is only possible because they have people to cushion their fall. It's actually a ridiculousness…
What if it’s a calculated risk? That’s how most start-ups started anyways. Pandora, Apple, Spotify, etc.

I agree that NDS has made bad decisions, but that does not therefore conclude that he will forever make bad decisions.

And you’re right- it’s not WIJ’s company that he’s dealing with- but rmbr in ep14’s last scene he is a major shareholder in DalMi’s company bcs he used 2STO’s money to buy shares. So he can make decisions.

Anyways, you have your point too I’m just showing how NDS is not being delusional at this point, he’s actually taking heed of HJP’s advice but giving him a different perspective.
SDM’s dad didn’t have a completely fool-proof plan either. But he had a good business idea with calculated risk.
It’s not about being reckless. It’s about being willing to fail bcs that’s how you learn and improve- anyways the idea is sandbox. They can afford to fail, so fail to learn - while at the same time don’t fail deliberately, try your best with calculated risk.

A lot of ppl are misinterpreting the “sail off without a map” quote!
I really thought that the conversation in the lift (the preview) was done really well. I thought I would cringe at either how they play up NDS’ maturity or play up HJP’s wise-ness in order to force the plot down our throats/do fan service. But the conversation really showed NDS and SDM growth as a character under HJP’s care. Instead of just blindly agreeing and listening to everything he says (ep1-6), OR instead of opposing and ignoring everything he says (ep 7-12) - NDS is actually listening to what HJP is saying BUT STILL being experienced enough to come up with a counter-point and showing him a different perspective.

So the quote “sail off without a map” DOES NOT mean to ignore all warning signs and red flags and recklessly do what you want. But rather it is saying how, even with a map, it does not guarantee 100% safety in a stormy sea. What you need is experience and skills and calculated risks and to typhoon-proof your ship.

Both NDS and HJP have valid points. HJP is arguing that you should be up to the level to succeed- if not you will get hurt and die. Whereas NDS is saying instead of waiting till you're completely sure that you will succeed, try it out now when they're competent enough to NOT DIE so they can learn the mistakes and what they did right. His point is more like "we're bound to have some mistakes even when we're up to that level- why not try earlier so that we can be better in the future". Yes, HJP is right that SST is actually not competent enough to make it a success. But NDS is saying SST is competent enough to not completely die off and can afford to make this their first attempt knowing that they will fail, so they can learn from their mistakes- that is how they're gonna succeed in the 2nd time.

I must've missed this where she's being looked down on for being a dropout? Ppl are questioning her decisions…
yeah it is- but their point was more like "this show is so stupid and unrealistic" and also "SDM was only CEO bcs of NDS' feelings for her"

Interesting. I didn't see it bounce back, only seen it drop to 8.4 then 8.3 and now at 8.2. Personlly, however…
hmmm i'm usually quite a sensible viewer myself- as in i actually could see through the BS in TKEM and ROY and immediatley dropped both shows mid-way. They clearly just felt like shows that hired two really expensive leads and had alot of budget to add effects and props, but had zero substance
Whereas for start up, as frustrating as it is, it's still pretty fun to watch overall and i don't feel like it's a complete waste of time. i guess an 8 is fair still, but i will be appalled if this has a lower rating than TKEM... TKEM was really bad though

Saying this after I saw a lot of fans trashing nam Joo hyuk and even bae Suzy and even the writer for casting…
Yo chile, i think you misunderstood what I was trying to say. I'm not saying you CAN'T say anything remotely negative about the show and what kind of messages it's sending. I'm just saying if you want to do it, criticize the show according to how the writer has intended it to be. respect the author's work- bcs in the end this is not YOUR OWN show.

It doesn't take much of a scroll to see comments like "this is such a shit show" "this is the worst show" and their basis? Bcs HJP's didn't turn out to be the way they wanted it to be, solely bcs of their biases for HJP....revolving solely around HJP...That is where i think HJP fans might have overstepped and made this show to be about their own fantasies of HJP.
To clarify, not saying that this is every HJP fan or that this is you. I know that most HJP fans are not like this. But it is still quite a huge majority and i am quite tired of baseless criticisms on the show from HJP fans just bcs they don't get what they want.

again to be extra extra clear, im *NOT* saying you can't criticize the show and have your own opinions-- You CAN-- my problem is with people having BASELESS criticisms solely bcs they are not getting what THEY want, as if the characters and the shows were THEIRS.

he was!! i rmbr feeling like the only likeable characters was him and his gf. The leads were quite problematic. But he wasn't outstanding there, he had very little lines and a very simple character.
if you like his acting, i reccomend The Light in Your Eyes, his acting was superbbb there!

Agree ! Some people gave really low rating after seeing how they mistreated their favourite character, be it HJP or NDS or SDM or WIJ
But tbh this is better than a lot of drama out there already.

it's true, NDS's character was so likeable for the first 5 or 6 episodes but then he slowly came off as really inconsistent and conflicting/ as well as needy.... basically wahtever you said haha

Also, on an unrelated note, NJH was also in CITT

I’m not saying we can’t criticise art. Just saying we need to evaluate it objectively for what it is, instead of scouring over how it’s not the ending you want and therefore concluding that it’s a bad show, projecting your own desires and expectations on the show.

Not pointing fingers at ALL HJP fans. I know you are one of the better ones too, I read your comments a lot. Just trying to include more different perspectives in this comment section.
