So, let's remove every kissing and bed scenes in romcoms as well, because there's no actual point to see those,…
If you don't have a real argument, why are you talking?
A romcom need a kissing scene? No! It doesn't add anything to the story, other than making fangirls crazy over it.
A historical drama can be made without nudes scenes? Yes, but if the story requires a real storytelling where the writer actually want to show how messed up a character is, it's necessary. If the scene is not included, you have to rely on your imagination. It's like saying we don't need to see how a character kills another, because it's enough if they just announce it that the characters were killed.
If you don't know anything about writing, please stop talking! I have a feeling you're too young to understand this anyway, based on your pfp.
Are you talking about MDL ratings or ratings on TV, because it's not the same thing! Also, it's nothing new that…
Hon, read my reviews, I NEVER give lower score than 3, and I always write my fair opinion about everything. If I want to see nude scenes, or I only watch something to see boobs and sex scenes, I can watch porn. I love every genre, even ridiculous soap operas, I just finished a hot mess "Nice Guy 2012", because I love Moon Chaewon, but I didn't like the show. I love Sohee (your pfp) as well, but her "Gyeongseong Creature" was also a mess, especially the 2nd season. I only care about the story, not kissing, bed or nude scenes.
Seeing how they managed to make one version without including nudity, it seems like the nude scenes are unnecessary…
So, let's remove every kissing and bed scenes in romcoms as well, because there's no actual point to see those, we can understand the story without it. Nude or sex scenes are not something like a porn. Most of the time it's actually meaningful for the story. Especially in shows like these.
Are you talking about MDL ratings or ratings on TV, because it's not the same thing! Also, it's nothing new that…
I deleted my comment by mistake, but anyway...đ
If they have a REAL opinion, sure, I don't care if they give -10/10, but pretty much all of them rate every mature show 1/10 because of the nude scenes.
Yes, people blaming others because they actually deserve it! They did the same with "Queen Woo" and other shows.
If you rate a show 10/10 because you loved a bed scene in a romcom, like in the new overhyped mess "When The Phone Rings", but you gave 1/10 to this show for the same reason, your rating doesn't mean anything, you're a hypocrite. You don't care about the story, you only want kissing scenes and hot actors.
I wish we could bet with real money on how people will rate a Kdrama on MDL, I would win a lot of money. đ I knew people will rate this much lower, because of the nudity. Even tho they got the "KID VERSION". Funny how the same people give 10/10 for "When the phone rings" because they loved the bed scene, but here, it's a problem. So many Kdrama fans are hypocrites.
I don't care about nude or sex scenes, but man, when artists have to release two different versions of their work, because some people acting like Saints, and calling every scene a "porn" while they're drooling all over their TV's if they see a bed scene or even just a kissing scene in a romcom, and instantly give 10/10 ratings, even if the story is crap!
Madness! What's worse is that people who actually want to see the original version, we can't, because platforms like VIKI follows these idiots, and they only bought the "Kid version", because they don't want to enrage the Fairy Tale fans who still think the prince on the white horse are still real! They want to watch a historical drama, but want to exclude what actually happened!
I'm starting this only for Moon Chaewon, but man, I've only seen 22 minute of the 1st episode and I'm already want to throw out my tv. What the actual hell is that scene with the ML and his girlfriend in the hotel room?
Jesus, the long essay again! Okay, let me answer one by one. đ 1. This wasn't a big deal for me, but I would…
"This ability is first brought up within like the first or second episode, so I feel like it could have been utilized more."
100% agree! I'm pretty sure the writer either forget about or just didn't want to use it anymore because it's too OP. Anyway, if we really want to, we can find loopholes, but I don't think this should be OUR job, the writer should do a better job telling us how the rules working in her show. They never really stated any rules other than the time freeze thing and that's all, basically. So technically they can do anything, and for me, that's just lazy writing, to make your job easier.
"Reading over some more of your reviews you don't hold back/sugar coat things, but you're never cruel or dismissive so, respect."
Nah, I don't do things like that. If I'm really trashing something for real, it's actually hot garbage. I don't think I've ever given a lower score than 3 to anything, not just Kdrama. Even that crap "Twilight" movie series is only 3/10, even tho I hate that series. đ
I think I only give 1/10 to actual trash movies that you can buy for 1 USD or something. There was a time when I tortured myself with movies like those.đ
Anyway, I'm always fair, even if my wording sometimes can sound like I'm a hater. At least, some people say that. I mean, if you look at my fave actors list, you can find some of their works were rated low as well, so I'm not biased. One of my biggest faves are Park Boyoung and SNSD's Seohyun, yet I rate "Abyss" 4/10 and "Private Lives" 3/10.
I work in this industry as a sound engineer and video editor, so I know how hard to create shows and movies, and I'd say 80% of the time, if something is bad, it's not because of the actors. They're basically puppets. Even in "Lovely Runner", the actors were great, the chemistry was great too. The OST was decent, so if the writing wouldn't've been a bit better, I'd give 7/10 easily. But I still think, 5/10 is not a bad score, because for me, 5-7/10 is pretty much "average" score.
This is my system, btw:
1-2: Terrible, crap, garbage, whatever you wanna call it. 3-4: Bad, or below-average 5-7: Average 8-9: Above average or great 10: Perfect
PS: I fixed my first comment with the Spoiler as well, you're right, if someone read the comments, it's irritating to scroll through the "Wall of Text". đ
Just a reminder, caps mean italic not yelling.1st reason: I personally never really found that to be an important…
Jesus, the long essay again! Okay, let me answer one by one. đ
1. This wasn't a big deal for me, but I would appreciate simple information.
2. I'm not talking about the police, I'm talking about the 2 main love interest. I'm pretty sure she couldn't even write a single sentence about the future, but she can tell she's a time-traveler? Makes no sense to me. I'm pretty sure she mentioned the ML that he's gonna die, even tho I don't think she said how. She couldn't mention the name of his band, but she can tell that he's gonna die? Makes no sense. Anyway, let's say, they find a loophole. I still think it's nonsense. They only did this, to make it harder for her to save the guy. I could come up with a better way to handle this. I've seen it multiple times in other shows and movies.
3. It doesn't matter which version of her was in the past or got kidnapped. The police guy, the 2nd ML's father was there, also the ML, and neither of them said a single word. The law don't say the police don't have to tell the family that their kid was kidnapped and almost got killed. The police would tell this in every scenario, especially, because in the worst case her own family could be a culprit as well, so they need to investigate them as well. This was just lazy writing to create more unnecessary drama.
"The only excuse that I personally came up with on why future Sol's acting the way she does toward the end of her time back in college is the built up trauma she is not processing by finding out that surprise the person that you just wanted to help not get depression and self exit is actually constantly being killed because you got off at the wrong stop on a bus and he witnessed a crime against you. (that run on sentence is a lot, but I thought it in one "breath" so it is what it is at this point.)"
Honestly, I don't even know which part of the story are you talking about now. đ
"The dementia plot point was to express that memories don't just disappear they are still within us waiting to be remembered. Dementia can bring a person in their 80s back to a memory from when they are 5. Memory isn't a linear construct. Memory doesn't just bring back an image of something from the past, it can bring back emotions, scents, touch and taste."
That's cute and all, and it only applies to dementia, not time traveling! Doesn't matter who you are, you can't remember something that NEVER happened before. Sol literally erased herself from other's memory, she changed the original time-line, not just one thing, ergo no one should remember what happened. If her grandma and the ML can remember, the others should too, but they didn't. Again, lazy, inconsistent writing to solve a messy plot fast enough before the finale.
"What the overall take away for me was that...love, and what we experience while in love, is so powerful that even time can't completely erase it, even when our memories get tangled, and you can't pull a perfect image of their face anymore...those impressions still remain a mark on you."
Again, this is only true when we're talking about ONE TIME-LINE, not multiple! The original time-line don't exist anymore, ergo what they felt don't exist either.
It's like when you write the number "3" and you can make to an "8", you won't erase the "3" so it will remain there, and you can remember it, BUT if you remove the "3" and write the "8" from scratch, it's another thing.
"So yeah, a bit of fluffy bullshit, but it resonated with me as my parents get older, and I listen to my father's stories from when he was a child, teen...etc. "
I'm not saying it didn't resonate with me or didn't have a meaningful message, but it doesn't matter how meaningful a story is if it's inconsistent. I can't focus on the message if the way they write it is messy.
"PS: Also side eyeing the crap out of you for that 6 on the OST...bops sir, they are BOPS. đ"
The songs are good, I only gave 6 OVERALL, because there were like 3 OSTs I can remember, I'm pretty sure I heard the same 3 all season. I mean, other than Eclipse songs, but I didn't like those that much other than the ballad that was written for Sol.
Also, it's not only about the songs, when I rate the music it's about the Score as well. 6/10 is decent, but compared to Legends like Castaway Diva, Hotel del Luna or Mr. Plankton from last year, this show didn't deserve more than a 6 for me.
Honestly, sometimes I felt it was repetitive and the fact that I had many problems with the writing and even the FL, it didn't help to love the songs more.
I'm planning to watch this, but reading some comments kinda making me ignore it forever. People giving 9-10/10 because of kissing and bed scenes. What the actual hell? The same people give low ratings for more mature shows. Madness.
So, tell me! Who's worse? The haters or the blindfolded fangirls who always give at least 9/10 to everything,…
Yes, I finished it not long ago, and I know how many idiots camping here on MDL, and not only under this drama.
I don't want to dictate anything, even tho I think the ratings on MDL is messed up, almost as much as on VIKI where you can't even find a single Kdrama with a score lower than 8/10, I won't fight with people every day because they rate something 10, I don't have that much free time.
Like I said, my main point here is that in the past couple of years, MDL is a mess in terms of comments and ratings, and it's not just haters, it's hardcore fans as well. They are just as bad as the haters.
There are some people who actually want to talk about dramas and rate them properly without being biased or don't mind if someone has a different opinion.
For example, I rate this show 5/10, I didn't hate it, the main plot was okay, the actors were good just like the OST, but the writing was below-average, hence the rating. Yes, I think this show, and a LOT of others, don't deserve high ratings, but ratings won't change my opinion, so I don't care. Honestly, it would be nice if MDL removes the whole rating system. That's the root of most fights.
"I'm talking about the people who jump on comments of someone enjoying the project just to tell them that what they like is crap, actually, and they are stupid for liking it."
I agree!
"I don't understand why you are separating two different annoying groups like they aren't the same problem when they go into spaces that don't bring them joy."
Haters and blindfolded fans are the same. They may be not writing stupid comments all the time, but they are the reason so many dramas are overrated, and honestly, I've seen a lot of them attacking reviewers if they rate a show lower than them and dare to criticize it.
"My criticism isn't for the people who simply watched the show and didn't enjoy it for valid reasons. My issues are with the ones who are harassing people...this includes "fans" of projects as well."
So, we're on the same page.
"I have used my critical brain to analyze multiple aspects of this show. So please do not try to say I am a blindfolded fan because the leads are attractive. "
Never did that. I read your timeline tracker, but that doesn't make the show better or well-written. The thing is, the time traveling aspect of the show is inconsistent and makes no sense. Time traveling stories are my biggest faves, so I have high standards, even if it's just a Kdrama. I don't expect a high quality Sci-fi show, but I expect the writer to follow her own rules, and she didn't do that. You can read my review and see what was my problem. No timeline tracker can save this mess.
" Which I'm sure you've noticed, being a member since 2012. (I'm assuming we are similar in age)"
Yes, I know, that's why it's rare to see me writing a comment. I'm 37, btw. I usually skip hyped shows for a long time. Unless my fave actors are in it. I mean, I watched multiple mainstream shows years after the release. That makes it much easier, because I don't see any fan wars.
"There was a show that I was enjoying until fans of it went into OTHER shows comment sections just to put the other projects that were airing at the same time down...it was weird behavior, and those are the people I don't associate with."
Honestly, I don't give a damn about what others say, if I like something, no one can ruin my fun. The only thing that can affect my expectations a little is the hype around a show or a movie. That's why most of the time I watch them later. I forget all the fuss.
So, tell me! Who's worse? The haters or the blindfolded fangirls who always give at least 9/10 to everything,…
Like I said, no one is better. You're acting like if the people who rate 10/10 every show because of a cute boy or a girl are any better when they give low scores for more mature Kdramas and trashing it on the comment section. I don't care if people will give 1 or 10 points but stop acting like this is just a one-sided thing. It's not!
Rating something 10 or 1 is just DUMB! Most people don't know how to rate and doesn't even care. It's not about what they like. Idiots who rate something 1 wanna fight with the other idiots who rate everything 10. Two sides of 1 coin.
Also, it's not about who is the "target audience". A story can be great, even if it's made for little kids. If the writing is crap, like in the case of "Lovely Runner" it doesn't matter who was the target audience, it won't make the story better or more consistent. The writer didn't even care about her own rules. Never followed it more than once!
I agree that there are a LOT of haters who doesn't have a real opinion, but as I said, you can say the same about blindfolded fans as well. Most Kdrama fans don't care about the story or the writing, if the main couple is cute, it's enough for them.
At least I have a real opinion and know how to rate things. My point was never about ratings anyway, I'm just saying haters and blindfolded fans are the same! That's all.
Things I will never understand. Users who create accounts just to leave hateful reviews but use no other aspect…
So, tell me! Who's worse? The haters or the blindfolded fangirls who always give at least 9/10 to everything, because it's not nice to give low scores? What's the point of rate something? Not everyone is a hater just because they have a brain and can tell if a show or a movie is crap. Also, many people using fake accounts to give high scores. So, both party are the same.
I deserve an Award because I finished it! Absolute mess and inconsistent writing. I think this is the most overrated drama on this platform, like ever! It's madness a badly written drama can have a 9.0 score. The prime example that most people don't care about the story.
I respect your opinion but if you think this is messy, you have yet to see A Time Called You. That was the most…
Yeah, I'm not planning to watch that. I think 1 inconsistent time traveling show is enough for this year. Lovely Runner isn't confusing at all, it's just badly written. Honestly, I prefer a confusing story if it's consistent and don't abandon its own rules every minute. The writer should be banned from writing, especially time traveling stories. The love story was average at best.
Or that, yeah. Could've been so much better. Also, the animated part was a bit boring in the 2nd season. It was original and fresh in the 1st season, but in this, it was overused, I think.
A romcom need a kissing scene? No! It doesn't add anything to the story, other than making fangirls crazy over it.
A historical drama can be made without nudes scenes? Yes, but if the story requires a real storytelling where the writer actually want to show how messed up a character is, it's necessary.
