It's difficult to not get teary-eyed watching the end of that episode. So intense.
I just wish she had told that whole bunch how she was ashamed to be part of that family, given how they act. THAT would have cut them to the bone.

Just finished Ep 20.
Holy smokes.
If that was the series finale, I'd be happy. That ending was one of the most beautifully done I've ever seen. And everything about it: writing, acting, direction, photography, was PERFECT. How can the viewer not be emotional after watching that? I just wish that InOk had walked outside and saw them hugging, when they did the pan-out shot at the end (I was hoping that this as seen from her perspective and we'd see her silhouette as we were behind her).

And the "cherry-on-top" was that just before, SJ had to stand there and watch YD defend her man (not sure why she was there, but we seem to be asking ourselves that a lot).

Thank you TK, for finally overcoming your fears and taking the leap that love demands and opening your heart to her.

In my mind, the Bridge of Confession (TM) scene in IBN was my benchmark for best scenes in a Kdrama. And although here we don't get the sly humor in that one, the sheer emotional impact from our leads here is overwhelming.

I have a feeling that the servers that host this series are going to get a workout replaying this episode.

Just checked, in Ep 13 DW told YM "I have a daughter that's 7 years old"

her trajectory is a negative one, for sure. I can't imagine redemption for her character unless it has something to do with how their family company went bankrupt. Something tells me we'll get a subplot about that towards the end of the series and there may have been subterfuge going on that caused it.

after watching the episode in full, I don't think they'll ever be alone. But I do hope to see them getting a chance to raise Real as a family. It's Beautiful Now didn't give us that & 3BS only gave a couple of minutes of it.

I really wish they would go back to the nice apartment he was going to lease and just live there. Now that subs are out I have to concentrate on vacuuming and mopping and dusting otherwise I'll never get done. ARRRRRGHHHHH

Thank you, your recaps make my weekend! I love your sense of humor...when I did the long form reviews for IBN, they were mostly analytical of the characters and not anywhere as entertaining as what you are giving us. We'll have a whole week of trying to break this episode down and celebrating the ending.

The only thing I can think of is this: The only person that hates SJ more than us is the writer. He keeps building her up to just knock her back down, and harder every time.

The early speculation was that she'd lose the baby and she and TK would quickly conceive their own child - their "real" child, and that's what the title meant. We now know (or think) that the title refers to this baby's nickname. Or do we? Dont trust this writer!!!

How is this possible???? We still have FIFTEEN WEEKS to go! Are we really going to (finally) get to see them raise Real for a few eps at the back-end? What is the writer's plan????

You're all onto something. They'll have to use a surrogate Father, and that has to be kept ultra-secret from the family to avoid the "not from our bloodline" wrath of Granny. So that means they go to another OBGYN to get it done, and THEY screw it up somehow???? And I'd guess that his old flame and his search for his child somehow figures into this: the timing is too suspect.

I agree with just about everything you said. The best part of the ep, for me, was at the breakfast table with the other women....when after Granny babbling and bad-mouthing TK, she just put her spoon down and everything stopped. And then let that old bat have it. It was really moving.
I've figured all along that the split will come somewhere in the mid-late ep 30 range, and last at least around 5 eps minimum. This would depend on how much happiness they want to give us at the end with the baby.

There has been a time-slip about the time when they changed fathers. That was supposed to be an extended trip abroad, but he was back in the next episode, so I've lost track now of where she is in her pregnancy. But I am looking forward to your next summary tomorrow!

PS - I know where you're coming from, I did long form reviews here for It's Beautiful Now and it got to be exhausting: 1000-2000 words at a crack and I took a couple of days to crank them out. I swore "Never Again!" I don't know how you do it in just a few hours.

Bloomingtide's review was so complete, I have nothing to add except:
- Where was BongMin & her Bullhorn? Granny just broke the agreement by being mean to them. GO BONG MIN!!!!
- Don't trust the previews as far as their short-term future goes.
- That scene on the bridge was so beautifully shot. Just amazing.(reminded me of a similar bridge screen in It's Beautiful Now.) Downtown Seoul is a beautiful city at night. Kudos to the film crew and Dir of Photography.
