I"ve watched that episode 3x and still am not any clearer on any of this.

One thing I forgot the mention that was bugging me: DH looked like he knew or recognized SJ when she was talking to HD/YJ in the greenbelt. He even glanced back at her. But he only saw her backside, and maybe profile at best, in the dark. What was that all about? Was she involved in the SK underworld when he was? How does that fit into the US Passport & her narrative? Too many questions!!

At least they found a polo shirt for KS to wear!!!!

So, another good but bewildering episode. The good news is that they aren't dallying around; things are happening fast. The bad news is that too much is being skipped over in the process. For instance, I've never liked how they brought SJ back, BOOM, just like that. We know she's been stalking JD (knows her dress size, etc) so why haven't we seen a mysterious woman lurking in the background? Yet here she is, and already in today's episode she meets KS. Obvious question is when does KS tell MR about this. PLEASE don't hide it from her, KS.

SJ is being cagey about her past. She's never really explained her faking death. Or what happened after. Or how she is so well-off (thank goodness YJ is at least questioning things). I mean, HD walks into a luxury apartment where SJ lives and says NOTHING?

Is it really her? Well, I think so, but it really bugs me that they put all this weight on her feet being so distinctive and yet, still nothing about it. As far as YJ goes, it appears she was never that close with SJ? Have they even told the other sister in Canada? (In retrospect, it is kind of interesting that character didn't fly back to SK for the funeral).

I'll leave the Grand Conspiracy Theories to Loelha and Sher, they have a much more fertile imagination than me. At this point, something stinks. But I still can't make sense of what is really going on.

That is an understatement. It's like a comic book writer trying to write a sherlock holmes mystery.

My problem with the 'break up him and MR' scenario is: let's say that they convince KS to give up on MR for the sake of JD. Then what? SJ leaves and goes back to the States (because you know she ain't staying to play mommy to a 15 year old, and she isn't smitten with KS either) . So KS goes back to MR and they pick up the pieces. Do they really think that in that interval littleDong will be able to marry MR? SJ aint staying in Korea that long.

But I do agree there's more here than meets the eye. I wish you and Sher were writing this show, it would have a lot more intrigue and depth than what we've seen so far.

Given how weak he is, and his ability to send mixed-messages (like to HR with his peach-slicing), I think he needs an ultimatum as a swift-kick-in-the-ass to wake him up.

That will be SD's job. He won't stand for this (losing his son's chance at a meal ticket) and is the only one who will stand up to her. There has to be a reason he's still featured in the cast, other than comic-relief. This is his chance.

So I'll be the bad guy and ask this:
Would it be so bad if KS said, OK, you're back, take your daughter and raise her well. And he left to start a new family and life with MR? And cut all ties with in-laws? I wonder how the domestic audience would feel about that?

I hope so. MR is the bold one in that relationship, certainly not KS. She also has to give KS and JD an ultimatum too. "her or me"

I haven't seen the subbed version yet, so I'm hesitant to comment. But if they blow this chance for HD to realize what a bad person her oldest daughter is, and apologize to KS, then it's hopeless for them. And thus, KS will bow his head, sacrifice himself and his happiness, etc etc etc.

In reality, saying you regret you adopted someone would leave a scar that wont heal easily. But, this is dramaland.....

I think that was just the plate of side dishes (sweet & sour pork?) in front of them, but if he swiped it from SS, then I like him even better!!!

The young actress playing JD was good too. That scene by the river was her shining light in this drama, except maybe for the funeral. She was really very good and believable.
