He acts like he is scared to death of her. What did she do to him while they were married?!?!. He seems like he…
Yes, it's as if he's afraid to offend her. I mean, what's up with that???? And when he took her hand off his, to run back to MR, he didn't say 'NO I AM NOT INTERESTED IN YOU'
I'm one minute into Ep 106 and I had to stop.KS makes me SO MAD!!!!!!He just stands there like a mannequin while…
HE IS SO WEAK!
Gawd, I can't take much more of him. This whole episode he is so frustrating. SJ must have had him completely wrapped around her finger, so no wonder she wants him back. And she has an inheritance? Who is this Mr. Kim? Her sugar-daddy??? Was she married in the US, and thus an adultress herself, much less bigamist? Now we know why she's being so cagey about the last 10 years.
And he shouldn't have just flopped those papers on the desk. Slam them down, or shove them into her hands! Show strength and resolve! Oh, wait, it's KS we're talking about here. And don't get me started with HD.
When your girlfriend and ex-wife are more dynamic than you, you've got a problem. Right now, I'm just waiting for HR to come barging thru the door at the academy and blow up at SJ and reveal the JD truth (with JD conveniently in earshot).
Thank goodness it's the weekend, I need a break from this. Unfortunately, my 'break'consists of TRHC, another exercise in frustration.
I'm one minute into Ep 106 and I had to stop. KS makes me SO MAD!!!!!! He just stands there like a mannequin while SJ blabbers away to a shocked MR. He can't even make eye contact with her, much less tell SJ to shut up. MIRAE DOESN'T DESERVE HIM!!!
I stopped watching shortly after their love confession at the camping place, so kind of early on. Should I pick…
Dalia, BT below has a guide she's given prior posters with the same question, hopefully she'll see this. But, IMO, you dropped it back almost at its high-point. The car camping scenes were my favorite. Watch for a few more episodes when she realizes and confesses her feelings to him, and then you're at the decision point, because later on, at Episode 33 the show starts to fall apart and is no longer pleasant to watch. We're thru Episode 44 now, and if you browse the posts below, you won't find a bunch of people rejoicing in the fun and romance here. Be forewarned: they tried to fix the show around Ep 40-41 but the writing has been inconsistent at best. You can pretty much forget the romance aspect for this series.
Tejas made the argument that this story would have worked better in a reg kdrama with 16/20 eps. However i would…
Here’s my unsolicited .02:
Everything that has been said in this thread is correct. So why, I wonder, are we at this point?
I still maintain something happened behind-the-scenes that we are not aware of, that has affected the writing of this show. My gut tells me that there was a change in writers just before or when InOk went nuts (ep 33). From that point on, the cohesive story line went screwy and has a disjointed tempo. The “feel” of the show has changed: It seems to be written by committee now, rather than the One Clear Voice that guided it at the start.
Writers tend to write these shows around 1 or 2 characters that are their own “heroes”. They understand this person they’ve created and champion them. This hero started out as YD. The show was HER story: A feisty young teacher who was abandoned by her boyfriend & mother and now faces pregnancy alone; who is determined to be a single mother and successful teacher. But she has been lobotomized since she knelt down at that convention center in front of InOk. Ever since then, the story is TK’s: How he’s coped with her leaving him, his family issues, and her return as an indifferent person now…and of course his love for Haneul and attempt to be a stand-in father.
Shows don’t change heroes like this. They stick to and tell the story and show the growth of the person involved. But not here. If you were to chart the development of this show by episode, highlighting the major plot points of each, you would see a consistent flow up to about 33. From then on, it’s all over the place. We get a good episode tossed in (41) and then a bunch of irregular and inconsistent episodes amongst it. This is NOT the same storytelling as we saw before. And YD’s character “development” is the perfect example of that. She is a shell of what she once was and when she is brought together with TK she is hardly affectionate, despite what they’ve endured together. I would say they were closer as a couple back when they had the car-camping trip and TK told her he would pursue her until she was his and she agreed. Now, it’s as if no one at the production company can decide what to do with them (again, as if it was being written by a committee instead of someone with a clear vision).
This (original) writer has been very clever. I’ve repeatedly cited how he came up with the weird plot line involving YM meeting Jae’s parents. Think back even before then: In the episode where YD and InOk ate dinner in the food tent (Ep3): There he continuously built up the tension where we waited for TK to enter the tent to find them. He’s done similar things as well to play with us and to mock the tropes so commonly seen in K-dramas. Do you see this level of writing now? I don’t. When you pitch a series to your producers, you don’t say “Well, I’ve scoped the first two-thirds and it’s dynamite, but I’m still on the fence with the last third, but they end up happy-ever-after, so don’t worry”. No major network would green-light such a proposal.
Thus I feel that at some point the person behind the writing either left the show or was demoted and more than one person is writing it now. I can’t think of any other reason why it’s fallen so far from grace other than lacking the original writer's leadership to guide the story to the end. Plus, no one left on the writing team really understands the characters now (especially YD). Sure, I get the desire for ratings (which hasn’t spiked, despite the attempts to fabricate SHOCKING DRAMA), but if you’re even pissing off your domestic audience to the point where they are calling for the heads of the production team, you’re doing something wrong. Further evidence of this is the inability of the plot to commit to just a few main characters. I won’t repeat myself about the surplus of couples in this show, but that’s another reason that things wander around so much. We keep ‘exploring’ the other couples but that’s it – we shouldn’t be doing this at the END of a series…the beginning was the place for it. But because nobody writing this show can agree on anything, this is what we’ve been getting.
So, here we are with 6 episodes left. Like many of us, I’m so emotionally invested in this mess I’ll see it to the end, out of curiosity. I’m no longer expecting a brilliant script to suddenly turn this around and fix everything – too much damage has been done for one to be believable. At this point, I’m guessing they are filming Ep. 50, or pretty close to it and the scripts have their final drafts done up to the finale.
It really is a shame. YD was so interesting and fun. Watching her boldly go to the wedding and claim TK for herself, to be determined to raise her child despite the odds, or bravely scream at his family for their mistreatment and disrespect of TK, she was a breath of fresh air for a female lead, unseen by me since Dong Hee in Bravo, My Life.
I should feel better getting this off my chest, but meh. That’s how disappointed I am in TRHC. It could have been a great 50 episode series. Instead, it was a good, though unresolved, 32 episode one.
Agreed. The writer has problem with continuity. The show has a lot of material, the writer does not make full…
To continue the food analogy, He went to a buffet and filled his plate with one of everything, instead of concentrating on the few things he knows he likes. Now he's so distracted he can't appreciate any of the food he has.
After seeing this episode and the preview, i bet SS filed those divorce papers for KS months ago. I bet KS is…
i watched it one last time before I shut down for the night (I'm talking to myself, since most of you are already asleep). Put me in the divorce papers camp. His body language and the way he dropped them on the table screams "read it and weep". Plus she says ".....so we can start over" and the day before, introducing herself to MR as his wife. She pushed him into a corner, which is the only way to get him to act sometimes. I'm not sure of the legality of the papers, which would depend on when they were filed (before or after she came back). If he filed while she was gone, then they ARE divorced, period. IF he filed after she came back, then he is suing for divorce, which she'll contend, and it will be a mess. I hope it's the first case, but the 2nd would make for more "drama".
Of course, by the time everyone reads this in the morning, the episode will have already aired and I'm probably wrong... Good nite, folks.
His dad is a hot mess. He is definitely a gold digger and can’t seem to get his life right but when it comes…
I'll give the writer this much credit: He does not create one-dimensional characters. SD is a pretty complex person, with both bad and good sides. Of course, a lot of motivation for his good side, is bad intentions, but you take what you can get, LOL.
I still can’t stop think about her conversation with HS:HS: I thought you were dead, how did you come back alive?Sun…
Yeah, there are a couple of ways to interpret that. My initial one was "I tried to die but someone saved me and prevented it", which would match her story. Then, there's the more skeptical one "I tried to die (pretend) but HDF (via the missing person box campaign) harassed me and forced me back to my identity". If that's the case, her line should have been "Turns out you can't be dead just because you want to", which may be a translation error?
They are moving so fast here. Ep 105:-I agree now with Sher, JDs lineage reveal is likely to happen at end of…
plus another possible continuity error: HS told SJ that MR was a conglomerate heiress. So her shock and surprise at the family table when SD told her that should not have happened?
They are moving so fast here. Ep 105: -I agree now with Sher, JDs lineage reveal is likely to happen at end of tomorrows show. -I really liked that pink blouse SJ was wearing at the end . I guess that's pink? -SD will meltdown when he finds out about KS not being JDs dad. Today's blow-up was nothing, compared to how THAT will go down. And he was perfect today, saying all the things I'd hope he'd say. -I find it odd they showed that scene (which resolved nothing) with HR and HS. I thought they might be planning something to protect MR at work. But nope. -Well, at least they've bought KS a few more collared shirts. So he's dressing better, at least. - Depending what that document was that KS slapped on the table, will determine if SJ spills the beans tomorrow.
"STOP SIGHING AWAY. SAY SOMETHING, YOU FOOL" - Line of the week.
She knows WAAAAY too much about everyone. Where is she getting her information???
What was the date on the Passport? Early April? I assume she got it, so she could come back to SK, and I'd guess she'd be ready to go once she got it in the mail. So maybe since May/June???
I’m putting this out here for all to see. You know how much I really, really, really, dislike little D with…
IIRC, Big Dong gave her the seed money to open the shop. But if he closes it, that would do her a HUGE favor, because there's nothing tying her to them now. She can just open a new bakery with DH elsewhere, and the live their lives. She has the experience now of running a bakery, and she has her expert baker.
Thinking about it, here are just some of the scenes we never got to see, because this writer cannot pace a drama:
• KS contacting the detective assigned to his wife’s case to inform him of the suicide note, witness statement. • Detective interviewing witness & evidence and closing case, filing death certificate • Chairman getting new healthcare worker who cannot compare to KS • CR firing healthcare giver, having to listen to and agree that KS needs to be brought back • CR thanking KS in hospital and giving her blessing for them, reluctantly • Rest of OK family greeting and ‘welcoming’ KS back and giving lukewarm approval of their relationship • Mysterious woman in USA booking flight to Seoul (this would have been our first glimpse of SJ). • SJ’s obligatory walking in the Incheon Airport arrival area. (we need to know when she arrived in SK) • SJ stalking the family & MR (she knew about MR and where to find her)
Gawd, I can't take much more of him. This whole episode he is so frustrating. SJ must have had him completely wrapped around her finger, so no wonder she wants him back. And she has an inheritance?
