Honestly hope they tone down the whole tutor storyline since it’s very not good. You would think those toxic…
Yeah… but it shouldn’t be glossed over or make it sympathetic for the abuser. Also, just because it happens in real life doesn’t mean it should be the default. Especially in fictional depictions.
I know that the tutor akira backstory was integral in the manga to depict "contrast" between (1) the light…
Spot on! I was so excited to see this series until those scenes with the tutor. Naively, I thought it would be a misunderstanding trope but then I read the manga…
Like bro couldn’t get with the legal brother so he takes advantage of the younger brother who was in an extremely unstable condition after being bullied for his affection? I don’t care about your sob story especially when you use a minor to “keep balance”. I’m glad they left his ending and opened because the last thing I wanted to read was the pedo getting a happy ending.
Oh god… if they give him a happy ending or expand on his story in the adaptation…
Rating when only 2 episodes are out ... that's not rational.I think it's always a bit weird that a drama can be…
Usually I adjust my rating as I update the numbers of episodes I watch. But yeah I agree, they should let you only rate when you mark it as completed. I know from reading comments on other series that most low ratings don’t even finish it and they drop it. I think they should show a percentage of how many people dropped the show and keep the ratings to those who have finished it.
please yall need to watch more korean BL ... there are a few more daring and explicit ones from the past years.…
I was about to mention Thundercloud rainstorm lol.
Also, I rather have intimacy scenes that serve the story than NC scenes for the sake of NC scenes (there are sites for that and I actually want to watch a drama with a good story).
I find that there’s so much beauty in how the intimate scene was made and edited in episode 2. Even though it…
Your analysis is spot on! Had me seeing that scene in a new light!
Usually I just skip through those "NC" scenes because most of the time they don't serve the story and usually exposes the stereotypical role the characters will play. Then the story becomes rather plain and predicatble.
At first I thought Haneul was testing Saebyeok when he asked if he liked him when that scene started but now there's a different tension to those words and the answer. Seems more like "make up" intimacy and makes you wonder... what happened? Could it be related to why Haneul's brain is trying to delete those memories?
In the second episode, while they’re walking along the shore, the beach starts moving toward them and the waves…
So... that is called a wave break and happens when waves encounter shallow water. Not all beaches have waves crashing into the shore. Also, I watched that other scene and he is just picking up the phone normally. I don't see where his fingers go through the screen.
I remember reading the manga a long time ago and I thought (or hoped) that maybe they changed it a bit but no,…
Yeah I just read the manga after watching the first two episodes. I was hoping the “tutor” was a misdirection/misunderstanding subplot but unfortunately I was right on my initial hunch.
Yo! Looks like another amazing BL from Japan! I’m really liking these down to earth relatable stories. The slow…
Honestly hope they tone down the whole tutor storyline since it’s very not good. You would think those toxic tropes would be gone by now but the manga was written so long ago. If they keep it… would’ve been a 10/10 series for me but I dislike minors with adults
Yo! Looks like another amazing BL from Japan! I’m really liking these down to earth relatable stories. The slow burn romances are so refreshing. Can’t wait for more!
Man… I liked the cute and funny moments from the new episodes but it’s just piling on the questions and I’m wondering if we’ll get an explanation for the color blindness. I hope this wraps up nicely with just two episodes left… I’m praying because it started of strong 🙏
interesting! great production and acting so far. Can’t wait to see where the plot goes with the high school storyline, the amnesia plot, and the secret memory that one wants forgotten are all intriguing. Hopefully it all plays out well
I understand you! The first episode I watched gave off different vibes than what I expected from a BL too but I do love those comedies. I did notice a lot is lost in translation because most of the BL elements comes from the dialogue and even most official subtitles don’t clarify the significance of certain words or phrases. I think I’ve seen two dramas that clarified the context of the phrasing and that reframed the entire scene. Hopefully when this gets an official international release they’ll have good subtitles.
I do like how they aren’t pushing the intimacy but give hints to something more since like you pointed out, one is still in high school and the other is older.
Not to be that guy but… those posts literally state BL-Flavored or is that a mistranslation? I mean from the marketing and instagram posts it’s obviously more than just a “Bromance”. Also the apparent subtex in the dialogue referenced by other comments points to this. First saying it’s no BL to it’s not explicitly BL? I understand tempering people’s expectations but it’s definitely BL light unless those special episodes changes things. Personally, I prefer the slow burn romances which is why I avoid certain countries bl content because it collapses into NC scenes and little story other than to lead to more NC scenes. I’ll definitely finish this series once the official subs comes out.
Bro the comments are insane, literally is a good show for me, it shows subjects like depression, feelings like…
Wholeheartedly agree! This is probably the best vertical drama I have watched. The heavy themes, how they were explored and resolved were executed so well. The soundtrack was amazing and the cinematography too. I wished I didn’t put it off for so long but thankfully I came across it on IQIY.
Yup. I was so excited when this show first dropped because of the twist in dynamics and it’s an omegaverse but…
Trust me, I’m well aware of the genre’s roots. But acknowledging that a genre can and should grow isn't “revisionist”. Revisionism would be me claiming those toxic tropes never existed! Which I clearly haven't done lol. I’m simply noting that we don’t have to rely on those same tropes to create tension anymore. You’re conflating the history of the genre with its evolving identity, and using a revisionism argument to defend a lack of consent is a pretty shaky rhetorical reach.
There’s a massive difference between not understanding a genre and simply having a standard for it. I’ve seen the full spectrum for over a decade within multiple fandoms, and I’ve found that ruts and heats are far more narratively rewarding when written as scenes of vulnerability and trust rather than a shorthand for stripping away character agency. Seeing the genre mature past its most harmful tropes is a mark of progress.
We can agree to disagree, but I’ll always take a well-written, healthy relationship over a toxic power imbalance disguised as “core tension.”
