"I definitely don't want to see a grown ass 27yo (who's turning 28 this year) man forcing himself on a 16yo" good…
if u can not dissociate acting from reality it's on u. does it make better for u that a 16 yo forces himself on another 16 yo? why doest it matter for u if the other actor is 27 yo? the action itself is despicable; the focal point is that they are acting...
are u gonna accuse bruno ganz of being a dictator, a mass murderer and racist cause he acted as hitler? no, it makes no sense. he was just acting.
sure if it was reality one would have been a child abuser and the other the victim, but they are acting and portraying characters of the same age. noone is SA noone in reality. nothing of what u see is real, is all finctional. they are acting conveying a story.
also the scene is not even out and u do not know how they will portray it.

eh? are minors not allowed to act in thailand? i do not get your point. was he forced to act? was he/his guardian unaware of the script? how was he not consenting.

eh sorry i'm not gonna read all your comments. disliking a show for the plot is ok, but why are u watching it then? u said u read the books so u knew what u were going into.
actor's age really should not even bother u, they are portraing a character not themselves.
also u make it sound the age gap is bigger than it is, they ony have 11 years gap. if i go to the homepage and check the most popular show, there is goblin, their main actors have a bigger age gap... is the show bad for this reason?

i didn't say u defended the plot of the book, but after reading it, the only problem u have about the adaptation is the age gap of the actors? really?
In the book gu hai raped bai luo yin at least twice to not count the torture luoyin had to endure caused by gu hai's father and cousin; damn gu yang tried to kill him. how a younger actor portraying gu hai would make it better in your eyes? again they are acting, if u feel uncomfortable stop watching it. there is no scene yet between the 2 and u already feel uncomfortable, ok… that seems totally on u and it's ok but u can not go around and say ppl "defend a very concerning and problematic plot" cause they have a different opinion than yours.
u can watch ep. 0 to see how they ended up casting these actors
P.S.. the only problem the 1st chinese adaption had was China censorship, the series was a popular drama at that time and both actors got lots of notoriety from it despite the chinese's ban from performing together.

bro u read both books and u talk about defending a problematic plot? no adaptation will be wild like the books, rest assured, everything will be toned down a lot (the uncut version of ep 1 has a kiss on the cheek and this says a lot). and the guy is right, u are free to not watch it if u do not like the age gap of the actors but to let u know, they are actors and they are acting in a fictional plot.
Can smone explain what they mean for "boo"? I might have missed it, if they ever explained it. I can only think of moo that wants Kang to be his boyfriend so he changes his own name with the "b" of bf
