the series indeed has an open ending. but u said his wish was fulfilled and the guy was saved with no hint from the show, this is far from an open ending, u are kinda confused here.

don't be a smartass lol. unless it's shown, it's just their interpretation, he could have died from his Illness or they could be both dead from the meteorites as far as we know. also if u need to watch a live of the actors to understand the ending it means it is just bad.
