I have a lot of respect for Hate Watchers. The fun you must have! I tried to Hate Watch "Love At Night" because the leads are very attractive, have good chemistry. I wanted to watch it for them. But it was soooooo boring, I couldn't stand it. I guess I'm more of a dropper.
Loving this drama. Entertaining and sometimes funny.. the male lead and the female bodyguard offset each other well. He tries to get her to quit but... You'll see.
And yet it's confirmed that nothing offensive was portrayed. Stop embarrassing yourself under the guise of your…
Actually, that wasn't confirmed. Here's what the court said in explaining it's decision: โ๐๐ฏ๐๐ง ๐ข๐ โ๐๐ง๐จ๐ฐ๐๐ซ๐จ๐ฉโ ๐ข๐ฌ ๐๐๐ฌ๐๐ ๐จ๐ง ๐ ๐๐ข๐ฌ๐ญ๐จ๐ซ๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐จ๐ ๐ก๐ข๐ฌ๐ญ๐จ๐ซ๐ฒ, the probability that the public will blindly accept [those distortions as fact] is low.โ

The court said that even if the drama distorts history it would not block the drama. That so many in Korea object to the drama, that major sponsors dropped it, the petitions and ranking as very controversial speaks volumes. Mostly it's viewers will be the international audience and fans of the actors. Actors who said they learned about history from the script! Contrast to "The Youth of May" where the cast are not idols, and who took the time to learn the history of that era. S. Korea only recently became a democracy, but forces are trying to pull it back to the authoritarian ways.
This week the disgraced former Pres Park was pardoned. Her father was a dictator. Millions had taken to the streets in protest over her corruption and now she's out and here we have a tv drama with very attractive actors in a show that rewrites key elements of the year of Korea's democratization.
Even the female lead character in Snowdrop has was given the same name as key historical figure. And rather than falling in love with a North Korean spy, the person was married to a democratic activist who was ultimately tortured and murdered by the NSA. The NSA would frame students and activists of being North Korean spies so as to block the Democratic movement.
oh it hasn't moved. Site I'm using is up to 36, and if last ep is aired tomorrow it will probably be a few more days before all eps available where I'm getting it from.
Nobody watching the drama. Also, distortion of a real case of state murder of a catholic professor labelled as…
Based on how South Koreans are insulted by this drama, will the actors forever be known for their part in it? This has to be a bad career choice, at least in South Korea.
Koreans find the drama to be a distortion of their recent history: Here's news article posted ep 4 aired, Controversial Korean drama โSnowdropโ gets lowest rating to date: "According to Nielsen Korea, โSnowdropโ episode 4 got a nationwide rating of 1.689 percent in South Korea, its lowest among the four episodes. This is lower than the rating of 1.853 percent for episode 3 which aired on Dec. 24. .. ... After the first episode aired, a national petition to stop the airing of 'Snowdrop' was filed on Dec. 19 on the website of the office of President Moon Jae-in, accusing the drama of distorting Korean history by disparaging the pro-democracy movement in the country and beautifying the image of North Korean spies and the former Agency for National Security Planning (ANSP), a government agency which was linked to the torture and killings of activists in the past.
The national petition has garnered 349,752 signatures or recommendations as of past 9 a.m. on Dec. 26. Under the rules, if a petition reaches 200,000 signatures, government officials and the Blue House (the office of the president) are mandated to make a reply."
why people are rating a drama that's not finished yet ?
It's due to effort a fanbase to strategically offset the opposition to the drama based on it distorting the history of the Korean democratic movement of 1987. They've been on many rating sites including IMDB, giving the drama ratings you'd expect of a lifetime masterpiece. The protests against this drama are not about taking down Jisoo or Jung Haein. There are valid reasons this drama…
The drama is clearly propaganda. Imagine if Hitler and his buddies were portrayed by handsome and beautiful actors in a nice romantic story, 40 years after the holocaust. And the story was changed, he was a nice gentle bookworm dedicated to his work. But it was still Hitler, still the time of the holocaust, but the producers said oh noe it's just fiction. I'm in the US and I can say that most of our country are very ignorant about real history and they don't even know they are being propagandized. I'm not surprised to see Disney involved in this, I worry that Kdramas will get distorted more by US/Hollywood. Most of our crappy tv are propaganda to make our wars and torture seem heroic.
Throwing the bait and leaving? ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐
Hi. There's a good thread on twitter by @gatamchun ์๋ํ who was born to protestor parents, her first memory was visiting her father in prison. She describes the NSA as being similar to the KGB, with it's classic trait to infiltrate student movements. People were tortured, disappeared, waterboarded to death, sexually abused.
