Sure but we aren't living in the 90s. It's a show that's releasing in 2025 and obviously catered to the young crowd, specifically young girls. Most young girls watching this aren't going to be looking at it as "oh this was just how it was in the 90s, not my reality in 2025".

I wonder if it's because he's awkward with romance? Coz his comedy scenes in this show were much better for me. He seemed much more natural there though I haven't seen his other projects so can't be sure...

This drama got like two different MDL promo articles about it, and the only reason I heard about it. Anyone know why they pick and choose which dramas get additional hype on this site? Or do they do it for all upcoming dramas

This is not always the case. It's just about who seems like the better character. Like the second lead in True Beauty is obviously the more interesting character with charming quirks while looking like a typical brooding bad boy on first glance.

People root for interesting characters that don't bore you, main lead or not. If the main lead has the personality of a brick and the second lead is as charming as a cat or has a better backstory or because they obviously seem like the better fit for the FL, then we know who will get the audience's attention.

I personally haven't rooted for too many second leads just because most of them are written to be filler characters with no growth beyond existing to make the main couple's relationship move forward.

Probably because she's always paired up with men half a generation older than her for romance...which is why I wish makers would do age appropriate castings more coz those generally always work. Like her with wi ha joon and even lee min ho...

I think we as a culture have gone too far in empathizing with characters (and people) who do shitty things because oh poor them they have a bad past! No, abuse at the hands of a miserable person is permanent for the victim, there's no two ways about it. The county princess is a grown woman who made the choices she made. Not everyone who goes through crap ends up being a pathetic excuse of a human, so while it's great for the actress to empathize with her character, I don't think we need to be excusing her behavior like some of the words from the actress in this article make it sound. Now it could be the fault of the translation, but the point still holds either way with regards to the general public discourse around "villains" in pop culture these days...

How is the romance in this show? Is it slow burn in the background or they get together from the get go? Also who pursues who or is it mutual?

Literally none of them are any better or worse than Byeon Woo Seok...the same rigid monotonous acting...your argument would make more sense if it was someone like Ji Chang Wook or Park Seo Joon, objectively better performers, in the running...

I knooow! Loved him in Midnight Runners tho that was more comedy than action. He could definitely pull off something like Vincenzo tho. A full action thriller tho is something he's yet to do so I won't make any judgements yet with that...
