This series loses steam real fast. Timelines intersect that is just so confusing to watch; hodgepodge of ideas…
Their chemistry and their acting are the only things I like,I find the FL and the ML good together as friends/work partners. My problem is the weird editing and the fact that I can't decide where I'd like this to be a slice of life drama (where all the ranger team is happy together saving people) or a thrilling supernatural crime drama. While the latter suits the mysterious mountain background,I am leaning on preferring the first. You can do both, shows like Life on Mars worked perfectly but this one not so much...

I believe it was because unlike in the west, girls couldn't inherit at all (I believe it was the same in France…
It was difficult but it wasn't impossible the way I see it,it was more of a worst case scenario that a woman inherits the throne.Even Empress Mathilda believed she had a claim to the throne back in the Middle ages,if that was impossible I doubt she would.I haven't read of any daughter of the Chinese Emperor who thought the same,I believe ancient Korea had a queen but that changed with Joseon dynasty where it was a no no,and Japan had more female rulers that England ever had for example, which is fascinating, but things were more complicated since the emperors daughters would marry close bood relatives.

I was worried she would discover the truth mid drama but thankfully it's more fast faced,I really want them to show the whole story or at least most of it.I would also prefer them to include the prince's wife because I feel like we almost never get to see a concubine's life,I don't want them to make her the main wife.

Loving this. But I’m curious why in China, Korea etc all kings / emperors had to have concubines . Why not Queen…
I believe it was because unlike in the west, girls couldn't inherit at all (I believe it was the same in France but I don't know of any other country in europe with the same issue),therefore they had to make sure sons would definitely come. The empress was usually from a very powerful family and their marriage was an important political alliance, they couldn't just divorce for not having sons. The harem solves this problem of course, plus I do think it must have been a status symbol (omg the emperor has hundreds of women).Lastly, they had no Christianity to impose the one wife/husband rule. BTW in my eyes the actress is actually beautiful and has an interesting face,I usually don't find the overly cute faced female leads they choose attractive (not so much nowadays, now they are pretty, but in older kdrama).

The title could be the red ink, because of all the revisions that he made for that one apology letter. Hahhaha.I…
With the pace kdramas usually have,I don't think they can show their entire life together (although I'd really like that for once!) unless they make 50 episodes.I believe it will mostly be romance with some politics until they end up together-the end.If they really do opt for a change and show the history and how it happened I'll be greatful.I like actual historical dramas based on true stories, both western and Asian.

Random question before I start the drama, will the FL really be a concubine? Like does the ML has his wife and…
I think the FL is supposed to be the concubine this king loved the most, that's what I read.

Of all the ongoing dramas, this one has charmed me the most so far. I look forward to next episodes. Friday can't…
Same,I didn't even have this in my to watch list,I was bored and I decided to watch and now I can't wait for the rest of the episodes. This and Jirisan for me,I know many people aren't impressed with the latter but I really like it.

This isn't like a classic drama,at this point I am thinking the ML will never wake up again and his soul is just there until they catch the killer so he can be free "to go" after.I actually feel really bad for both leads as they are especially likable and like one commented before, they deserve none of this.

Not a fan of the fact that this is the 3rd period drama lately to start with the children's story...However,I am a sucker for the "I don't like you now but I'll be whipped for you later" trope and how you see it coming so even the predictable "we know each other since childhood" can't stop me now, haha their chemistry is good so far.

I actually like the drama,I was a bit sceptical at first because the genre isn't what I expected but I only find the editing weird after all.Episode 7 was great!I also don't mind the ML not looking much younger than the FL,imo not only he does look younger with his hair down but also it doesn't matter that much because their dynamics is more based on the fact that she is more experienced on the job and he is more clueless and it works because of their acting.

Person Ju Ji Hoon
Apart from his incredible looks and sexiness,he has acting skills that are not easily found in drama actors (not saying that drama actors are bad but especially the ones of his generation tend to act less realistically). If it wasn't for that scandal with the drugs,he would have a great career now I'm certain, but Korea is very unforgiving....
On The King's Affection Nov 9, 2021
Uhm what is going on?What is she going to the other lady once they get married and the time for you-know-what comes? Why does the ML still believe he is in love with a dude after episode 10?!I feel like there is no direction at all,I don't even understand the ultimate goal here.Does she want to be king?
Replying to Michael Park Nov 8, 2021
I think the King really does know the his daughter is the Crown Prince.
Yes,I think so too.I just don't understand why they insist on her being the crown prince instead of appointing a new one using any excuse really. They could send her off somewhere to live the rest of her life comfortably.I don't doubt her skills of course but it's obviously not possible for her to become the king, she can produce no heirs with another wife and a king is attended by so many servants,it will be impossible to keep this a secret for the entire palace. The current king should have explained the situation to the grandfather.

Ep 6 was somewhat like a filler, but I actually liked our first love guy Cheol Kyeong. It would have been great…
Ι think the leads are just friends and colleagues and with time they become good friends. We are supposed to be around the middle in the 2018 story so their relationship isn't more than it is with any other of their colleagues. All the team members seem to be as close to each other as people who spend a lot of time together would be.I don't necessarily feel like we need more depth for now at least. What I agree with is that the editing is indeed weird,I thought my laptop had an issue with the frame rate lol.

It's not entirely improbable, plot twists that make no sense have happened in kdramas before. But I wouldn't personally appreciate it much.

I don't actually mind the FL in the wheelchair ,unfortunately this happens to some people irl and they have to go on with their lives of course. But the ML being unconscious is an issue.

It could happen but it would be one of those drama things that make no sense.I mean, one would think they would have double checked if the girl they killed is actually dead, and then the queen would also make sure that the actual crown prince is gone,it is kind of a big deal.Plus, why wouldn't the crown prince return to claim his position?

Yes,that's what is happening basically.Although that girl did tell him his soul would roam the mountain even after his death,so there is still a chance he is actually dying although they would have probably already killed him if that was the case.I guess he is going to wake up and they will find the killer together with the FL.

I feel pretty confused about this.I am one of those people who liked episode 1 but I am not sure about the rest,I did not expect to have Joo Ji Hoon lying in a hospital bed for the rest of the story lol (yes I know it's a double narrative and we'll get to see him a lot but still,I was surprised and I'm not sure whether that's good in this case).I don't mind the lack of romance but I really thought we were going to follow the team's adventures on the mountain.I am going to keep watching, the story might be good after all.
