Where is Mr. Du in the last episodes? Did anyone mention him? He was sick and unwell but with his personality it's very weird that he wasn't there when YY went He County.
Episode 39. The moments between NYZ and RRY was really cute and romantic. I know Yu Shishan died but I think he…
Very well said especially about the difference in NYZ and Ruyi's teaching styles 😅 though I must say even after meeting him, Ruyi tended to act alone. How many time she went out to take her revenge or investigate alone only to have NYZ come to save her in the last moment?
I finished last episode a couple of days ago and really didn't know what to think of that ending, especially since…
I don't think LTG will be the regent for only 10 yrs, it was the emperor's coming-of-age celebrations but still a 10-11 yrs old couldn't rule alone. Idk how legal age works in the drama though, normally they have regents until 16-17 when they marry🤔 LTG said if the 3rd prince take power they wouldn't have to worry for at least 10 yrs.
The last thing is that I know this is called "A journey to love" but the amount of cheasy, fluffy, one to one coversations between the leads and that even in the worst situations they'd found time to hug and behave sappily several times per episode is only equal to the best of rom-coms.
They could tone it down and use the time to actually move plot forward so the last episodes wouldn't be this packed.
The whole point of this drama was to save Wu Di and after his redemption arc (which I like very much) he transformed from a reckelss leader to a capable one but they unnecessarily killed him off and made a villain out of the third prince only to have NYZ and Ruyi go all the way from An to the Wu capital during all those chaos and play patriotic heroes and kingmakers.
BUT at the other hand, unlike An royal family, Wu people turned out to be such graceful losers. Prince Danyang who'd done everything he could to prevent his brother's return had made peace with giving back the throne willingly and he proved to be a good ruler (at least stayed true to his alliance and fought bravely)
The Empress who rejected Danyang's (probably mutual) love to have the regent's power voted for him when she came to know her baby is probably a girl and she can never be the dowager empress.
And lastly the prime minister who orchestrated the gang to go with YY in the first place finally understood he can't have the power forever and returned the other will to NYZ. If only the 2nd prince was this accepting🤦🏻♀️🙄
Firstly: I love CY and I particularly liked her scenes with LTG, I didn't ship them romantically like I didn't with YY and YL, but enjoyed their banters endlessly. My point is that, she as a character isn't that important, aside from making truth ouf of all those forshadowings about the great playboy SS falling in love and die, she didn't add much to the story either , nor was she close to the delegation, only going to their mansion once.
CY just got to know the remaining trio and YY during the war and short months of the ending episodes so having her of all people just walking around and fantasizing about not only SS but all of the gang 10 yrs later doesn't make sense, it's also very cruel to show she hasn't been able to move on from a youthful crush/love. (Though I think we can't be sure she isn't married but still)
I think aside from the theory that the boy was angel of death and she dropped dead after asking her guards to leave her and joined them in after life, we can say that place could be the battlefield a/or it was the anniversary of the war so she had the memory of her first love, battle, war, etc already in her mind hence she was thinking about them and the accidental similarity of the boy's name with her dead friends made her that emotional.
She was there when NYZ died (again we can't be sure his corpse wasn't collected off screen🤔) and she was told Ruyi exploded the tent, believing they have been alive for all these years without telling them is weird.
I'm not a fan of epilogues as a whole but if they wanted to do it, they should've done it with YY and LTG. It was appropriate to show them working side by side to keep peace and teach the young emperor to be a capable ruler, especially as it was his coming-of-age celebration so they had reason to think about the past and the long way they've came, not to mention they were closer to the gang.Personally I wanted a scene of them as a couple and I'd also like to see YY and LTG were happy together and had came to love each other and not only being respecful and polite.
What bothered me about it most is she chose to die. What kind of message does that send to everyone that loses…
I feel the same. Although I don't like lovers dying in each others arms, usual BGM, sappiness, etc it but they go to fight and die together is a far better ending that she killing herself.
As you rightly said in your other comment, this ending isn't in line with such a girl power drama. The feminist motos sometimes, too many time imo, were so bold and glaring like they were reading a statement and not just talking casually but then at end the lone wolf FL becomes a romantic and die of love😂 If I am to name 5 worst things about AJTL, one is surely this...)

Exactly Not only it's a bad message it's ooc for her. Before and beyond everything she's a calculative survivour, dying because she's too lonely without her lover is so off.
I feel like Lu Zhi was the only interesting character and wish they did better his turn to the dark side, and…
Lu Zhi is the good example of being under bad guidance, no one thaught him good honest ways and he only knew tricks and dirty acts, also people around him not only didn't dissuade him of learning others' secrets and weaknesses, they used it to their own benefit and at the end this very knowledge cost them their lives. The same happened with Sangeng, he too knew peoples' weak spot and preyed on them.
The characters were interesting enough, though they had space for deeper diving.
NYZ must've given him this good beating when he tried to kill YY adter he puahed his face into the water. Although with this inconsistancy in his character I don't think the would take the message.🤦🏻♀️😂
They could've done it so he wanted to save them but did that😬probably just to have the leads finally marry as she was dressed already and YY could propose to LTG in a very cool manner.
Very well said as always. 👌🏻 YY had the most connection with the delegation and if they wanted to make a final scene with someone remembering them it should've been her if not along with LTG. CY was an outsider who barely knew them, even Shisan. Showing her unable to move on after 10 years is a bit brutal, not to mention unrealistic (not in dramaland but RL)
I personally loved YY attitude of moving forward, she was betrayed by a love, fell again only to lose again but still stood her ground and made the best desicion she could. I'd like to see her and LTG being happy and enjoying peace after 10 yrs. Though being dramaland again, I'm afraid they'd show them not in love and still mourning their own lost loves.
