What bothered me about it most is she chose to die. What kind of message does that send to everyone that loses…
I feel the same. Although I don't like lovers dying in each others arms, usual BGM, sappiness, etc it but they go to fight and die together is a far better ending that she killing herself.
As you rightly said in your other comment, this ending isn't in line with such a girl power drama. The feminist motos sometimes, too many time imo, were so bold and glaring like they were reading a statement and not just talking casually but then at end the lone wolf FL becomes a romantic and die of love😂 If I am to name 5 worst things about AJTL, one is surely this...)

Exactly Not only it's a bad message it's ooc for her. Before and beyond everything she's a calculative survivour, dying because she's too lonely without her lover is so off.
I feel like Lu Zhi was the only interesting character and wish they did better his turn to the dark side, and…
Lu Zhi is the good example of being under bad guidance, no one thaught him good honest ways and he only knew tricks and dirty acts, also people around him not only didn't dissuade him of learning others' secrets and weaknesses, they used it to their own benefit and at the end this very knowledge cost them their lives. The same happened with Sangeng, he too knew peoples' weak spot and preyed on them.
The characters were interesting enough, though they had space for deeper diving.
NYZ must've given him this good beating when he tried to kill YY adter he puahed his face into the water. Although with this inconsistancy in his character I don't think the would take the message.🤦🏻♀️😂
They could've done it so he wanted to save them but did that😬probably just to have the leads finally marry as she was dressed already and YY could propose to LTG in a very cool manner.
Very well said as always. 👌🏻 YY had the most connection with the delegation and if they wanted to make a final scene with someone remembering them it should've been her if not along with LTG. CY was an outsider who barely knew them, even Shisan. Showing her unable to move on after 10 years is a bit brutal, not to mention unrealistic (not in dramaland but RL)
I personally loved YY attitude of moving forward, she was betrayed by a love, fell again only to lose again but still stood her ground and made the best desicion she could. I'd like to see her and LTG being happy and enjoying peace after 10 yrs. Though being dramaland again, I'm afraid they'd show them not in love and still mourning their own lost loves.
Thanks for taking time and reading them. It's a pleasure...
LTG's obsession arc is annoying but a complex and understandable thing at first (I have another rant on that🤦🏻♀️) but it's repetitive after he shows that he's came on term with it only to go crazy again several times.
Aside from MLC having a satisfying ending, I agree with all you say. I think they were too scared of killing LLH…
The must but between you and I, would it be as well-liked, popular and well-recieved if they'd show DFS and FDB finding his corpse in the special or God forbid drama itself?😂🤦🏻♀️ They have to please the HE lovers majority so they sacrifice their own authority.
They either could lessen side stories and add to build up for the big ending fight to have more impact or keep the story light and actually let them all be alive.
With the way story went, Wu di rescued, YY marrying into An by her own will, Soldiers going home and Ruyi die for good, they could make it a light ending imo. Only problem would be Danyang at home not returning the seal to his bro and that was royal family problem not Liudao hall's.
The episode count are more than enough honestly, the problem lies with the script writers., not just this one but many other dramas have this problem.
They should plan out the story to fit into the episode count and then add fillers, not that from the start go and add subplot, ministory and character arc as much as they can then run out of time for the climax and what leads to it.
I said it before, AJTL started fast paced, love came in early episodes with no break up or lying around or serious thrid wheel (LTG doesn't count) Then we had plots wrapped up quickly and without much hinderance beside an bloody and heroic fight like that embazzlement plot which could'vs been a big conspiracy but was just a greedy person stealing, or LTG's father could be an important person but he was the nobody eveyone knew to be (I haven't seen the last 6 but I don't think it came up) or Empress lying about her pregnancy to buy time.
Drama went on this merry path enjoying lots of things along the way and suddenly everything needed to be wrapped up quickly, hence the packed plot.
Like I was sure at least half of the main cast will die, I even counted LTG or YY as casualty but not in a war with people showed up in the first half then disappeared for 20 eps and return to kill them all.
Why are some people saying it's the best drama of the year? Because that's how they feel. of which they are entitled…
You described him well. He'd never known any love in his life and was bound to live a pitiful life and die just to guve birth into devil god.
I can understand why he's like that after falling but despite this understanding, I didn't like how his cunning manipulative nature turned into a mess after YXW's death. Those several eps. between her death and 500 yrs later were awful, I just skipped through them all. However I rather liked that despite having a devil bone, he didn't become a devil god this time.
All dramas aren't appealing to everyone, some more than the other, I guess it was in that category.

This is an interesting take, staying alive just to seek justice for his fallen friends. I don'd mind his death (though I think they said he's alive) but I'd like it to be more obvious.
What?! They skipped? How can anyone really enjoy a story by skipping eps especially the last few. 🤯
Skip to see the ending. I think 20-30 minitues after package express, I saw the first reaction of ending here. The flew over to last 15 min of ep.40 to see who's in the epilougue.
